“ Brand: Waitrose / Type: Cleansing Wipes / Suitable for: Face / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Cleanses, „
I picked these up at my local Waitrose when there were on offer. The usual price is £1.59 (which isn't bad) but when I saw there were 2 for £2, I couldn't resist. They cleanse, tone and remove make-up including waterproof mascara and they really work. I often struggle to remove all my mascara - I think I've done so but in the morning still seem to have traces of panda eye! With these Waitrose wipes, this doesn't happen. They leave my skin feeling refreshed but not dry. Generally I think wipes dehydrate the skin, and although I still slather on moisturiser after using these wipes, they don't have that drying effect that so many other brands have. They come in a white pouch with a resealable pullback tab. Part of the essential range, there's nothing fancy about the packging but the tab does seem to reseal well - the clear plastic cover is larger and stickier than others I've tried. To be on the safe side however, I always keep in a resealable sandwich bag once opened. This way I've found the last in the pack is just as good as the first (the packs come with 25 wipes). Great for everyday use but I usually buy them for holidays or trips to save lugging around eye make-up remover, cleanser etc. I also like the 4 in 1 vitamin E facial cleansing wipes which are very similar but instead of the cucumber have added Vitamin E which is always good for the skin.
I don't often shop in Waitrose but on one particular day I found myself in this store and I needed some more face wipes so when I saw these I thought I would buy them. At the time they were on offer for 2 packets for £2 which I thought was a very reasonable price to pay. They are usually £1.50 which I still think is not a bad price to pay really. I like to use facial wipes to clean my face and also to help cool down my skin when I'm warm. I try my best to carry out a daily routine of cleansing and toning but don't always have the time so on days when I'm more rushed I use these wipes as they are faster but I think they are just as efficient. They come in a small plastic packet which is really simple in design, just white with pale green writing. It's nothing special and it doesn't have to be either. They open like baby wipes using a peel back strip on the top and the wipes are dispensed like that. The wipes are really nice and moist. They are more moist than other wipes I have used but in a good way, my face does feel a little damp after using them but the dampness soon absorbs and leaves my skin feeling nice and fresh. They are only thin and I find they work really well at removing make up and cleansing my face. If I have make up on I tend to use two wipes but if I don't then one will suffice. I think that my skin is cleansed after using these and I always feel fresher after using them especially if it's a warm day. They have a slight smell of cucumber about them but it's not very strong and it's not one that lingers either, it just is a fresh smell which is nice. I think the price is very good and I'm pleased I bought them, I will buy more next time I am in store.
I prefer to use soap and water on my face on a day to day basis, but if I am going on holiday I do take facial wipes as they are easy to use if we are on the plane, or if we stay in my parents caravan much more convenient than going over to the toilet block or trying to crumb into the tiny toilet cubicle in the caravan. As I mainly shop at Waitrose I by the Waitrose Essential face wipes. It always find Waitrose's essential collection to be of really good quality and as I expected these wipes are good to use. The come in a plastic re-sealable package and there are 25 wipes to a pack. These are 4 in 1 wipes containing to cleanse, remove make-up and moisturise and my face does feel fresh and soft after using them. I use one wipe per "wash" so a packet last me a whole two week holiday and usually I can buy them on offer for 2 packs for £2, so the cost is good too. At full price they are about £1.50 per packet. The wipes are thick and soft, prop "materially" wipes not t tissues. These cucumber ones smell really clean and refreshing and it's nice to use them as a refreshing wake-up in the mornings. I don't wear waterproof mascara and make-up so can't comment on how well they remove that, but they very easily remove my non-waterproof mascara with a couple of gentle wipes. They must be quite sensitive wipes as I am prone to sensitive skiing and they do not irritate me nor do they dry my skin or make it feel greasy. These wipes nor the packaging are recyclable so I always put them in a bin and not down the toilet as I am afraid they may block the toilet up. These, shown above are the 4 in 1 cumber scented version, but I have also bought the others in the series, the 3 in 1 unscented and the 4 in 1 vitamin E wipes, all of which I like and work well, I just get the ones that happen to be on offer! For a going away face wipe these are perfect for my needs so I am going to give them a 5/5.
I'm not brand loyal when it comes to face wipes, I'm happy to use whichever wipes happen to be on offer, and as such I've tried absolutely loads of different ones. I've tried some which have quickly become favourites, these essential Waitrose 4 in 1 cucumber facial cleansing wipes are definitely one of my favourites, and I've tried some which I'll never buy again no matter how cheap they are. I do always look out for these wipes on offer, the full price is £1.59, but more often than not you will see them on offer at 2 packs for just £2.00. You can mix and match the 2 for £2.00 offer with Waitrose's 4 in 1 vitamin e facial cleansing wipes and their 3 in 1 facial cleansing wipes. I've tried all 3 varieties of the face wipes from Waitrose, and I actually like all of them. Each packet contains 25 wipes. I don't use face wipes every day, I'm normally a wash off cleanser kind of girl. But I will use face wipes if I've ran out of cleanser, or in the evenings if I'm too tired to go through the whole cleansing and moisturising process, or to freshen my face and neck on a hot day if I'm not wearing any make up. I do always take face wipes with me when I travel or stay over at a friends house for the convenience factor. The 4 in 1 cucumber facial cleansing wipes from Waitrose refresh skin, cleanse, tone and remove make up, including waterproof mascara. I don't think that these smell like cucumber as such, and I also don't think that they smell like other cucumber face wipes that I've used. I just think that these have a very fresh fragrance. The fragrance is quite subtle, it's not too overpowering, and only a hint of the fragrance lingers on my skin for a little while. I find that these face wipes are really gentle on my skin and don't irritate my skin at all. They actually leave my skin feeling quite soft and smooth, and ever so slightly moisturised. They don't replace a moisturiser, but if I'm tired and I just use a face wipe before bed then I don't find that I wake up with dry and taut skin. I find that these face wipes work well at removing the all of the days grime from my face, and they remove all traces of make up as well. If I've had a lot of make up on then it can take two wipes to remove it all fully though, however they do remove waterproof mascara with a just a gentle rub over my eyes. Even rubbing my eyes with these wipes they still feel really gentle on the delicate skin around my eyes. These leave my face feeling really clean and refreshed, and they get rid of any greasiness on my skin as well. They are so easy to use, I just need to gently rub a wipe all over my face, eyes and neck. The wipes are fairly damp and so will clean and mop up everything that they need to without any vigorous rubbing. The packet is resealable so that the remaining wipes stay damp until I've finished the packet. The seal does actually reseal every time, unlike some other wipes I've used where half way through the packet it stops resealing and so my remaining wipes dry out. I do really like these face wipes and I always pick up a couple of packets if I'm shopping in Waitrose and I happen to see them on offer. I tend to always mix and match and choose 2 different packets, as I like them all, and for the variety - it's nice to have a change. I'd definitely recommend these, I think that for the low price, especially if you've bought them on offer, that they are brilliant. I've had more expensive face wipes which don't work half as well as these.
===Motivation=== If you read my review of Essential Waitrose 3 in 1 Facial Cleansing Wipes you will know I recently took advantage of a 2 for £2 offer on Waitrose facial wipes. In addition to the 3 in 1 wipes I also bought a pack of Essential Waitrose 4 in 1 Cucumber Facial Cleansing Wipes which I will now review. ===The Packaging=== Like the 3 in 1 wipes, these 4 in 1 wipes come in packs of 25. They come in the same white plastic pouch with a resealable tab only this time the lettering is green. These claim to refresh skin, cleanse, tone and remove make-up (including waterproof mascara). The back of the pack contains the standard information including the list of ingredients which can be viewed on waitrose.com. I can only assume the package would have performed like it did for the 3 in 1 wipes (kept my wipes moist until I had used all the wipes however towards the end of the pack I noticed the resealable tab was sticking less and less well. By the end, I'm not sure I would have trusted it to stay shut if thrown carelessly in a suitcase or gym bag) but I disliked these 4 in 1 wipes so much I threw nearly the whole pack away. ===The Wipes=== The first thing that hits you when you open the package is a very strong, sickly sweet smell that reminds me of the very nasty, artificial green apple candy I hated as a kid. The smell is vial and gives me an instant headache and turns my stomach. My husband even commented on the smell from across the room. To make matters worse the scent lingers on your skin. Like the 3 in 1 wipes, these measure 15 x 18cm and have the same texture that seems reasonably soft to my hands but slightly more abrasive on my face which is most noticeable on the sensitive skin around my eyes. These wipes removed the majority of my (non waterproof) mascara but when I followed with my normal eye makeup remover it showed these wipes had left a small amount behind. Similarly, they removed most but not all of my foundation. I don't have any waterproof mascara to test, but given the performance on non waterproof mascara I wouldn't hold my hopes very high. And as far as refreshing my skin, these wipes did leave my face feeling tingly, but in an angry, slight burning sort of way. These wipes do not claim to moisturise, which is good because they certainly don't. After using these my skin felt quite dry and in desperate need of a good, intense night cream. ===Final Verdict=== These wipes smell awful, fail to fully remove foundation or mascara and caused my skin to burn slightly. They hardly deserve the 1 star I am forced to give them.
I picked up a couple of packs of these a few weeks ago whilst shopping in Waitrose as they were on offer. The usual price per pack of 25 wipes is £1.59, but as they were on offer at two packs for £2.00 I decided to buy some to try - I find it hard to resist a bargain! I'm not brand loyal when it comes to face wipes but as I have such sensetive skin I am always careful which types I choose. I chose these because they sounded quite gentle and I've tried cucumber scented facial wipes before (from another brand) and really liked them. There is also a vitamin E version of these face wipes available, which I will definetly be trying once I've used all of these ones up! These wipes are part of the Waitrose Essential range and they come in a basic rectangular packet which is made of a thin plastic-like material. The packet is white with the brand name written in black writing and the product name written in green writing. There's then a brief product description which says that the wipes contain cucumber extract, which helps to refresh the skin. They say that the wipes should be used daily to cleanse, tone and remove make-up including waterproof mascara. There's a grey circle which says '25' making it clear how many wipes are in the packet and the ingredients etc are listed on the back. The packet is easy to open; it has a piece of very thin plastic-like material stuck onto the front, which when peeled pack reveals a hole where the wipes can be pulled out of. The wipes do stick together so usually 2 or 3 come out at once, but this doesn't bother me too much as it takes me a couple of wipes to remove my makeup and clean my face and neck. The wipes are a decent size when unfolded and they're a rectangular shape. They're quite thick which I was pleasantly suprised with, as cheap wipes usually have the same texture as damp kitchen roll! The wipes are damp but not so full of moisture that water comes out of them when squeezed/when they're pressed against my skin. They're made of soft, cotton-like material which is completely smooth on both sides, meaning they're gentle against my skin. The wipes do a great job in removing makeup quickly and I don't need to scrub the wipe against my skin; these are really effective and I was suprised at just how easily they remove eye make up - waterproof mascara and eyeliner included. The wipes leave my skin feeling fresh, clean and smooth and they don't leave any sticky or greasy residue. They do leave my skin feeling slightly damp, but this feeling goes away after a few minutes. The wipes smell nice and fresh and the subtle smell of cucumber is noticeable and really pleasant. The smell does not linger for very long which I like. I've not had any problems with the wipes irritating my skin or making me break out, nor do they dry out my skin. I've found them to be really gentle and effecient and I am very impressed with them considering the price. Overall, recommended - cheap, great at removing makeup and they smell nice, too!
