Estée Lauder, like a lot of the premium beauty counters, sometimes gives away goodie bags as gifts with purchase and that is how I ended up trying this moisturiser as I was given a small jar of it (amongst other things) when buying my usual Double Wear foundation a few weeks ago.
I like to keep my skin moisturised every morning and night and I had heard that this moisturiser was a good one so I was keen to try it. The presentation is quite appealing as it comes in a glass jar which feels quite heavy and good quality, and it is a lovely sea green/blue colour with a gold lid. Estée Lauder packaging sometimes looks really old fashioned in my opinion but I think this one looks nice and not too dated.
The moisturiser inside is much thicker than the ones I normally use. It is an off white colour with a pale green tinge to it and it has a scent to it which I can't put me finger on. It is a bit cucumbers but also has a kind of sunscreen tinge to it in my opinion. I can't claim that I really love the cent but it's not offensive. The moisturiser seems quite thick and heavy going on to my skin so I only use a tiny bit. Even when only being very sparing with it I feel that it is a bit too much and too greasy for my skin, personally. I have normal skn but it can be oily if I don't use the right products on it and I felt like this could make it a bit oily. Estée Lauder do say it is for all skin types but I felt it was more suited to drier or more mature skin. It did sink it quite quickly and easily, which was good, but I just prefer something with more of a light and airy feel to it.
It contains SPF 15 which is definitely a plus for an every day moisturiser as this extra protection will keep skin in good condition and protect from the sun, but due to the heaviness of this cream I have just been using it at night rather than in the day, so I haven't benefitted from it!
Over all I would not buy this, as I haven't been blown away by it, but there is nothing really wrong with it, it just doesn't suit me. It may be worth a try if you have drier skin.
As I reach my 20, I have turned very fussy about my skincare. Some people may want to try out new makeup and stuffs but I am a skincare freak. I would be happy to spend more on skincare if it really works.
I am not a big moisturiser fan tbh as I have combination skin and I find most moisturisers just melt off my skin. However, during winter months, my skin is quite dry in some areas so I was always on the hunt for a good everyday moisturiser with SPF and I have tried a lot, either drugstore or high-end ones.
I received this as a part of a gift set from EL when I purchased 2 lipsticks last Christmas. It retails at £35 for 50ml so fairly reasonable for high-end brands. It comes in 2 formulas, one for normal-combination, and one for dry skin, I believe. I use the normal-combination one.
It is described as "An advanced moisturiser to defend against-and diminish-the appearance of signs of premature ageing. Now with the most effective anti-oxidant power ever.*
DayWear helps safeguard skin with advanced broad-spectrum sunscreen and our best UVA defense.
Reduces the appearance of first signs of ageing, like dullness and fine, dry lines. In fact, 96% of women said their skin felt smoother and fresher instantly."
The cream itself has a nice consistency, creamy but not too thick, not too light. It also has a creamy green colour with fresh cucumber scent to it, which I really like. It goes on nicely, absorbs quite well to the skin and hydrates my skin greatly. It also have an SPF of 15 which is always handy, esp in the winter when you don't need high SPF. It sits nicely underneath foundation and gives my skin a lovely smooth texture. A little goes a long way. As I my skin is fairly oily, I just need a tiny bit of it thus the 15ml sample pot lasted me a good 4 months using daily.
My skin is very sensitive but it doesn't cause me any breakouts or any weird pumps on my face like lots of moisturisers I had tried before.
Despite all the good things, I feel like it leaves my skin feel a bit oily. It does not absorb completely into the skin as I hoped, but rather feeling a bit greasy and shiny.
Therefore, in the hotter weather, I would not use this. It is better for winter but I would love not to have that greasy feeling and shiny looking on my face.
Overall, despite using the formula for normal/combination skin, it does not control the oil well. And for the price, I would hope it to do a bit better. If your skin is a bit less oily, then it may be good for you.
I must admit, that when it comes to skin care, I am incredibly fussy. Nothing but the best for me! I have a very specific list of criteria that products must meet in order for me to begin. In the case of a moisturiser it is the following: -Oil-free (i.e. doesn?t clog my pores) -Minimum sun protection factor of 15 -Contains anti-oxidants -Hypo-allergenic Estee Lauder's Day Wear meets all of my criteria. I have tried both the crème and lotion formulas of this product. I am currently using the lotion but use the cream during the winter. The lotion comes in a turquoise bottle with a plastic pump. The lotion itself is green, light and smells very fresh (like cucumbers). Once applied, my skin feels much softer and best of all, it doesn't shine. I absolutely hate it when a moisturiser leaves my skin shiny! In the past I've had trouble finding a moisturiser with both anti-oxidants and a high SPF. I'd previously used Chanel Hydramax Moisturising Gel (it contained anti-oxidants) in combination with Chanel Hydramax SPF 30 Environmental Lotion (no anti-oxidants). The environmental lotion by Chanel left whitish marks on my skin, as it didn't absorb too well. It just sat on the surface. This was a problem that I also had with Clarins Hydration Plus Moisture Lotion SPF 15. Day Wear leaves no white smears and absorbs almost instantly. I recommend this product to both men and women in their teens and early twenties. It's a great product to use to PREVENT the first signs of aging. It won't TREAT signs of aging and therefore I think that those in their late twenties and older should use a product designed to eradicate signs of aging.
Like many others, I first noticed this product when i got a sample of the creme after buying some other Estee Lauder products (am a sucker for free gifts). As much as i liked it, i felt it was just that little bit too heavy for me so I have now invested in the Daywear Lotion. This has all the same benefits as the creme, except it is much lighter (oil free) and comes in a pump bottle (which I much prefer anyway as it doesn't let the germs in and the product stays fresh for longer). It still has the same fresh cucumberry smell which got me so hooked in the first place and really does the job on my sometimes oily, sometimes not skin, which now seems to behave itself on most days. This would be a great buy not only if you have oily skin, but if you just wanted something lighter in the summer months. As for the price, it is slightly cheaper i think than the creme version, at £24.00 for 50 ml. My usual tip is wait until gift time, cos that always seems to include one of their fab pure colour lipsticks and a little Idealist, which complements the Daywear really well.
I haven't splashed out yet on a full size bottle of this but my op is based on a free sample I was given when I purchased their new Idealist skin refiner product. This cream is great and I will definately buy a full tub of it when I finish up my Clarins morning energising cream. It's a fairly light cram and pale green in colour it sinks into the skin fast (and I have combination skin so it's not overly dry), it smells very fresh and I would say that is one of the deciding factors why i like it so much AND it has a SPF of 15 in it which is brilliant as the sun is the worst thing overall for your skin and although I always wear foundation I find most of them do not have a SPF incorporated into them. I can definately recommend this product to anyone looking for a day cream.
Estee Lauder's Day Wear protective anti-oxidant creme is a good all round day cream which includes a sun protection factor of 15. The good thing about this cream is that it functions as a moisturiser, as well as a sun protector and best of all, it contains anti-oxidants to protect from damage by free radicals. It is a very light cream that can be used daily in the morning before make up. The smell is really nice too in my opinion. Personally I have found it to be a very good day cream as it is not too heavy and therefore won'tmake your skin oily later in the day, unlike some other moisturisers or creams. So far I have not seen any new freckles on my face which means it is probably doing its job.
