Estee Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Cream is by far the best facial moisturiser I have ever used. It isn't cheap by a long shot but it is without a doubt worth the money. This thick creamy moisturiser leaves your face feeling and looking flawless (my boyfriend comments all the time how nice my face smells too!) I use this Moisturiser every morning and every night after I have cleansed and toned my face. I just put a few little dots around my face, usually my forehead, chin and nose then I spread the cream around my face so it covers everywhere, I don't fully rub the moisturiser in as it sinks in anyway and I don't want to rub so hard it causes friction and damages my skin! Estee Lauder Hydrationist Moisturiser is ideal for people like myself thatnhave normal/combination skin, it literally makes your skin luminous! I used to get quite a lot of dry bits around my nose and now I never ever do because of this wonder cream! it also seems to stop me having a greasy T zone, which is awesome because it really does not look pretty! My skin looks so good from using Estee Lauder that I don't have to wear foundation as my skin is in fabulous condition! I really can't praise this moisturiser enough. Apart from the price! But you really do pay for what you get. It's a small price to pay for flawless skin! Girls, go out and get this! I promise you you will not be disappointed! This product gets a 5 star rating from me!
Estée Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme is from the luxury range, Estee Lauder can be bought in house of frasher and in boots and also online, the luxury range isn't the cheapest of their products but more often than not they work, this is £33 for 50ml, this is specifically for normal and combination skin. The benefits of this is to keep your skin moisturized all day and included SPF-15 which protects against the skin, this is also supposed to resist the look of ageing.
I bought this in winter last year as I felt I needed something a little stronger than my usual moisturizer as we had a really harsh cold winter, and this kept my skin brilliantly soft throughout the winter, I don't always wear make up when I'm mooching to town, and this kept my skin looking very radiant and silky, which I found unusual for a moisturizer to actually do that.
Overall, I think this is a very expensive moisturizer but one you see results from day 1. I refuse to believe it has age defying affects, look after your skin with drinking water and moisturizer then you will have younger looking akin anyway, especially if you are older anyway you won't get rid of your wrinkles or stop them appearing. This is expensive so I only buy this in the winter months because it is a lot better than the usual ones
Having a skin care regime can be a pain, especially for those of use who actually need one whether it be to calm oily skin or to hydrate dry areas. Finding the right products to use in conjunction with one another is a challenge in itself, especially when there are so many out there that are promising you the earth. I have tried a lot of skin care products by many high street brands with Simple being a brand I used regularly, but these high street branded products never gave me that wow factor I was looking for so I dipped my toe in to the world of premium branded skin care! For some time now I have used Clarins cleanser, toner and moisturiser but recently the moisturiser ran out as it was only a small 15ml tube. I liked using it and it made my skin feel great but when I went to the Clarins counter to purchase a full sized one I was stunned at the price of it and it really made me think twice. I decided to look at some other brands in hope of finding something a little less expensive but instead found that all the prices are similar from brand to brand. Having used Estee Lauder make up for many years I questioned the consultant about some of their skin care products. I absolutely love their make up and while it is a little pricey I think its worth it. I was recommended to this product, Hydrationist which I had used previously in a tester sample I received when I bought multiple Estee Lauder products. I really liked it but I never looked into buying the full size one and had forgotten about it since.
At £32 this is a similar price to the one by Clarins, but I thought I would give it another go after being satisfied with the tester sample. You get a 50ml pot which isn't a disaster, especially as a really small amount will cover your whole face, literally a 5 pence piece or less is enough so the pot lasts forever. I've had mine for 4 months and its still going strong! In terms of aesthetics this looks stylish with its blue exterior and gold lid with the brand name and its claims on the front of the product which is typical if Estee Lauder packaging so it'll look great on any dressing table! It is recommended for normal/combination skin types which suits me down to the ground as my skin can be oily, while it can get dry in places. There is also a version of this product for drier skin. The product promises you will feel an 'instant rush of moisture' because of the Bio-Mimetic Water ingredient which ensures the moistuiser is absorbed deep within the skins surface and it will also reduce signs of aging. Estee Lauder also claims that with one application of this product, your skin will remain hydrated for up to 24 hours - if thats not perfect, what is?
Before going into my experience of the product, note that during the winter (which is when I bought this product) the cold weather seems to affect my skin quite badly and give me extremely dry patches that look awful when make up is applied over them and before this product, nothing had managed to totally hydrate these areas, not even my beloved Clarins Hydraquench! While the consistency of the product looks fairly thick, when it is applied to the skin it is so lightweight and does not feel as though it is clogging up your skin and you will notice a fresh type of aroma from this product. Upon the first use, I used this in conjunction with Estee lauder Idealist which minimises the appearance of pores (please see my review on that product) and I would strongly recommend it as the results are just fantastic. This applies over the top of Idealist which I tend to do when I get out of the shower or if I plan to apply make up shortly. Only a very small amount of this product is needed for each areas of the face, a tiny little dot, and you should rub or pat it onto your skin, focusing on drier areas. As soon as it is applied you feel your skin being hydrated and it doesn't leave a shiny look or wet feel to your face and it seems to dry very quickly while leaving the skin feeling soft to touch. Because of this, I find my foundation applies absolutely flawlessly over the top because of the great condition of my skin underneath. I also often use this product after removing my make up at night and before I go to bed. I sometimes find my skin can feel tight after using soap or harsh products and I get dry areas on my forehead as well as around my nose. If I apply a small amount of this, the dry skin does not develop and in the morning I wake up with fully hydrated skin. You will always notice there is a brightness about the face after application, especially for me as I sometimes find my face looks dull and unhealthy but this really gives me a glow and makes my face look plump and healthy.
I have used products in the past that while they hydrate areas of the face, they also cause break outs and oiliness in other areas. I bought this in hope that it wouldn't be the same especially after trying some of Cliniques skin care range and being left with oily skin. Even hours after application of this moisturiser and my make up, I can touch my face and it will feel as soft and as hydrated as it did 8 or 9 hours ago when I first applied it. I can honestly say this is the best moisturiser I have ever used and despite it being a little pricey I would not opt for another product as I don't believe you could find another moisturiser that has all the benefits of this one. I no longer have to worry about dry areas, or break outs on my face as I know that this moisturiser has taken care of all of that for me and left me with super soft and silky skin - thank you Estee Lauder!
I received a sample of this moisturiser about 4 months ago. I first used it only 2 weeks ago because my skin had become very dry and dehydrated. I usually use Clinique Moisture Surge Extra in this instance but had run out of it. I was thoroughly impressed by the product and have to say despite the Clinique fan I am I actually preferred it to the Moisture Surge Extra.
~ SOME HISTORY OF ESTEE LAUDER AS A BRAND ~
Before I start a more detailed review of this product I will firstly explain a little bit about Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder is a brand under the umbrella called the Estee Lauder Companies. Estee Lauder was the first brand produced with only four products by a lady called Estee Lauder in 1946. From this date onwards more brands were added under the umbrella of Estee Lauder Companies and now the Estee Lauder companies includes Estee Lauder, Clinique, Origins, Aramis, Mac, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone and many other brands. To me Estee Lauder used to always seem a brand for the older more mature lady but since I have tried more of their products that view of mine is rapidly changing. I do wish that Estee Lauder products were slightly cheaper but unfortunately they are not... so if I buy products from Estee Lauder it is either when they are on gift time so I get some freebies to try or online to get them cheaper.
~ PACKAGING OF HYDRATIONIST ~
It comes in a light blue, aqua coloured pot with a gold lid. So the pot certainly looks refreshing but expensive at the same time.
~ AFTER TRYING THE HYDRATIONIST SAMPLE ~
So after having tried the sample of Hydrationist my skin became suddenly less dry and far more comfortable. I am extremely prone to spots when trying new products on my skin and I was amazed that Hydrationist was absolutely fine for me.
~ THREE DIFFERENT FORMULATIONS OF HYDRATIONIST + PRICE ~
Hydrationist comes in three different skin typed formulations. Firstly there is Hydrationist Lotion for oilier skins, secondly there is a Hydrationist cream for combination/oily skin and lastly a Hydrationist cream for dry skin. The sample I was given was for combination/oily skin which was perfect for me. My skin did not feel clogged with product and neither did it feel like it needed additional moisturiser. So I bought this with my Boots advantage card points. It comes in only one size of 50ml which is £32.00. This moisturiser does to the skin as it says in the title it gives long term hydration to the skin giving that moisture boost that the skin might be lacking.
~ HYDRATIONIST IN MORE DETAIL ~
In more detail this product not only moisturises the skin but it also helps to prevent premature ageing. It does this because lack of moisture is one of the main causes of early ageing through the development of lines and wrinkles. Therefore, keeping an optimum level of moisture in the skin is going to keep the moisture barrier intact and strong. A technology called Sustainable Moisture Complex keeps the moisture barrier strong. If the moisture barrier is broken then irritants, and other environmental pollutants and aggravators can enter the skin breaking down and destroying cells in the skin which eventually form fine lines and wrinkles.
The moisturiser also contains easily absorbable water called Bio-Mimetic Water that allows the skin to soak it up so it can penetrate deeper layers of the skin. This water ingredient and other such ingredients allow one application of the moisturiser to keep the skin hydrated and moisturised for 24 hours after. I would completely agree with this because I have been using it as a night cream and when I wake up in the morning and wash my face, my skin feels as though it does not require my day cream and even without applying a day-time moisturiser my skin does not flake when I put foundation and powder on which it usually does even with the day-time moisturiser before using this as a night cream.
~ CONSISTENCY OF HYDRATIONIST + SMELL ~
The consistency of the cream I love because the combination/oily formula of the cream is extremely light weight and feels almost between a gel and cream. This is the perfect consistency for my skin and it also leaves my skin feeling silky soft and plumped slightly. It absorbs into the skin straight out, it has no particular smell, just a fresh moisturiser smell (that is the only way I can describe it).
~ OVERALL ~
Despite the steep price tag a 50ml pot takes me a long time to go through especially as I only use it once in 24 hours, not twice. For somebody who has ever tried Clinique's Moisture Surge Extra or Clarins Hydraquench Cream I think you will love this moisturiser. This moisturiser would also work as a treatment product, to use it just once a week and it would dramatically hydrate the skin for just that one use for the rest of the week. This moisturiser has encouraged me to look into more Estee Lauder's products. I cannot recommend it enough.
