As a tester for the Beauty Bible books I was sent this product last year to test for their anti-ageing beauty bible book and I was thrilled to try it, as I have always rated Estee Lauder as a premium brand, but can't always justify premium brand cosmetic prices. The brand has been established since 1946. They do not test on animals nor ask others to test on their behalf. Tests are done clinically on volunteer panels. They also have a recycling policy, and are attempting to offset 100% of their electricity usage. The full name of the product on the EL website is: DayWear Sheer Tint Release Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Moisturizer SPF 15. I prefer to call it a tinted moisturiser. I used to wear tinted moisturisers all the time, especially in my twenties when I could get away with very little coverage. Now I am older than I think I should be, and although I don't look my age, I have noticed my freckles increasing in number and getting bigger (some may call them 'age spots', I prefer 'big freckles'). Since the age of thirty (some years ago) I have graduated to a light foundation and have increased the coverage level slightly every so often so I can have the 'not made up to the nines' look whilst still having any blotchiness or freckles covered. On holiday or at weekends I can't always be bothered with full make up, so it is nice to have an alternative that sits in the middle between 'proper' make up, and my usual bare-faced 'dead whore on a mortuary slab in an episode of CSI' paleness. The 50ml tube that I received is in the standard pale blue-green EL coloured packaging with a gold cap (which it can stand on if you are not too cack-handed when you put it down) and comes in a matching cardboard box, which can be recycled. Application is easy - you just squeeze your requirements out of the tube onto your hands and apply to your face. As it is a moisturiser you don't need to apply anything before hand, although EL recommends using their repair serum, but then they would. It appears that one shade fits all and the tint grows as you blend it in. My first surprise was that the moisturiser is putty/grey coloured. It was also 'bitty', more like a scrub than a moisturiser which I wasn't expecting. It goes on easily (it is quite sheer when on the skin) and is easy to smooth on, there were no 'tide-marks' and the bittiness disappears. However tint wise it disappeared into my pale freckly skin and didn't seem to tint it, although my skin felt moisturised after application and this lasted. I waited patiently for the tint to show up on my face but it never did. I spent an unhealthy amount of time staring at my skin in the mirror trying to work out if there was a tint there or not. My skin tone seemed even, not blotchy, but I usually find any 'first thing' blotchiness settles down once I am up and about anyway. Frustrated I tried it on only one side of my face one Sunday when I had no plans and used a normal moisturiser on the other side. Again I spent a lot of time trying to work out if there was a subtle tint on the right hand side of my face compared to the left, before concluding that even if there was a hint of a tint (which may have been my imagination), it wasn't obvious enough to have succeeded in its claims for me. I did not feel the coverage was sufficient for me to feel confident enough to go out and about. On a positive note I like that is contains an SPF and my skin has always felt moisturised all day. These aspects may contribute to the 'advanced protection' anti-ageing in the long run, but I didn't think I looked better or younger with it on; I looked no different from when I wore no make up at all. The website claims it enhances radiance, but again, I noticed no difference. As you apparently need so little of the product, a tube will last you a long time - I have been using mine for a couple of months. The 50ml tube retails at £32. I will not be re-purchasing this when finished as I do not feel it delivers what it promises.
I bought this after hearing about it on You tube. I was initially put off by the high end price tag, but I am so glad I decided to give it a try as its now one of my beauty essentials and is well worth the money. Price - This retails at £32.00 from Debenhams Packaging - The outer box looks expensive, as does the bottle itself. Its a lovely shape and feels really sturdy. The classic Estee Lauder logo is clearly on the front, although this does tend to wear off with use. Each bottle contains 50mls and does last for quite sometime. I wear this product almost every day and it last me approximately three months. Application - This applies like a moisturiser, it glides onto the skin easily and is soaked up quickly. It smells like cucumber, so is pleasant to use. Performance - It is important to ensure that this is massaged in well and right to the edges as its a tint release formula so will be visible on the skin. The colour adapts to suit individual skin tones, which is great. I am quite pale but this gives my skin a lovely healthy glow without being too dark or heavy. I wear this daily, instead of foundation, but do be aware that as this is a moisturising product, it does not provide coverage so will not hide blemishes or imperfections. If you are looking for a good tinted moisturiser or a product to wear under foundation that will give skin a glow, then this product would be perfect. Well worth the price tag as you clearly get what you pay for with Estee Lauder.
I first started using this about 8 years ago and it is by far the best tinted moisturiser I have ever used. As it is part of the DayWear Plus range it has Anti-Oxidant protection, UV protection (SPF 15) and Moisture protection. It also has the same gorgeous cucumber/summer smell as the rest of the range. The texture of the product is fantastic, it just glides on and blends evenly without leaving any streaks and creates a sunkissed look. It is a light green fluid with little brown beads mixed in. On application the beads explode to produce the tint. You can apply it with either your fingers or a brush. I prefer blending it with my fingers as the heat from your fingers helps 'melt' the product into your skin and blend perfectly. The tint seems to blend itself into your skin tone. I have leant mine to friends who have both lighter and darker skin tones than myself and they loved it too. As this is a tinted moisturiser you don't need to wear a moisturiser underneath you can just wear it alone. The only drawback to wearing this is that you need to have very clear skin to pull it off. As it's a sheer tint it doesn't provide any coverage for problem areas and can sometimes highlight skin problems. If your used to wearing a medium to heavy foundation and survive on concealer then this product probably won't work for you. Some people have complained about the packaging but I find that when I get to the bottom of the bottle if I wedge it against something and leave it upside down when I'm not using it then it's easy to get the remaining product out.
I would absolutely agree with the other reviewer who says this product is 'incredible', it really is! I have never worn foundation as I feel like my skin is clogged up with it and I've never really felt that I needed it although sometimes when I am going out I want to make a bit more of an effort with my make up so that is really where this comes in. A 50ml bottle will set you back in the region of £18-£20 but a little really does go a long way so one bottle will last quite a while - especailly if you only use it a couple of times a week like me. This product contains SPF15 which is good for those concerned with the aging and damaging effects of the sun. It also moisturises the skin well without being too greasy (however, I personally do like to apply a bit of moisturiser before I apply this). The 'Sheer Tint Release Formula' is just great. Another of my reasons for disliking foundations is that when I treid them out several years ago I could never find one that matched my skintone quite right or that didn't make me look like I had just covered my natural skin tone up. This product works by adapting to your skin, so one colour suits all. When you squeeze out the product it appears to have a slightly greyish speckly appearance but once you apply this to your face it changes into a lovely glow which allows your own skin to breathe and yet evens out your skintone with a slighly 'tanned' look. I have been using this for a year or two and I swear by it, if I wake up one day and look in the mirror and just think 'yuk, I look awful today', this is the perfect pick me up for my skin.
Ladies, having used this for two months now I can honestly say that I think it's incredible! I've struggled for many years now with foundation/tinted moisturiser. I like to look fresh faced and sport a healthy 'glow', but I don't like how foundation looks or feels on my face. I also have freckles - quite a lot of them. Throw all that together and it's not a good mix in my personal experience. So I've tried a lot of products, with varying degress of success. And I thought I found one that I was relatively happy with until I came across this. Quite simply, it's the best tinted moisturiser I have ever used. The way my skin looks, and feels, when I'm wearing this is amazing. The moisturiser itself smells light and fresh - cucumbery! It's grey/green and contains tiny spheres of colour, which burst on application to your skin and then tint themselves to your skin tone. I am extremely confident wearing this make up. I wear it every day. It's quick and easy to apply and goes the distance - I don't bother to take it to work with me. Because it tints itself to my skin tone I don't worry about any 'tide marks' appearing where my make up ends and my bare skin begins. I simply apply it with a brush, then smooth around my eye sockets and my jawline with my fingers. It feels light and smooth to the touch. When I've applied it my skin looks great and is glowing - but still affording me a very natural, healthy look. I've had so many compliments from women AND men, about how good my skin looks since I started using this! And, I've noticed a marked improvement in how my complexion looks in photos too. I wear it on it's own during the day, with a little blusher. For evenings I add a little illuminator to my cheekbones, for extra emphasis. I don't need to use a facial primer with this. Or a moisturiser. I just apply my eye cream and then the tinted moisturiser (I do still moisturise when I have taken my make up off on an evening). It contains some kind of advanced dual moisture system which, Estee Lauder says, will prevent my skin from drying out. I was a bit dubious about this but my skin does actually feel better! The SPF and antioxidants are a great added bonus too of course but, to be honest, I would have bought it regardless. A word of caution - you may be tempted to apply more than you need to when you first start using it until you get used to it - DON'T. A little goes a long way. However, if you do apply too much (and you will know because your face will look very shiny!) then simply blot away the excess with a tissue. As usual, with Estee Lauder, the packaging looks and feels expensive. And, at £30.00 it's not the cheapest product on the market. But I think it's worth every penny, and more. The only slight drawback I have found is that when it appears that the container is empty, it actually isn't. Mine 'ran out' over a week ago, so I simply chopped the end off with a pair of scissors and popped the tube in a tupperware box to stop the cream drying out! There's still loads left and I've used it every day since! A pump action would have been much better. However, that wouldn't stop me buying this moisturiser - I think it's a very small price to pay for such a fantastic product! Also on CIAO.
