Being 18, I have quite good skin due to slathering it in moisturiser twice a day but I find that all my late nights and partying have took its toll on my tired eyes. I seem to wake up the morning after to find dark circles and puffiness! I know the solution to get rid of this is about a gallon of water and a good nights rest but for a quick fix I reach for the concealer.
I have tried and tested many, from blemish sticks and balms to click pens and pots, but my favourite type of all would have to be a liquid version. I find it glides on and sets much more smoothly and the desired effect is achieved easily. Like with most make up, there is a very wide market and loads to choose from, so I popped down to Selfridges and had a nose about. After testing half of the shop, I decided on the Estée Lauder Disappear Smoothing Crème Concealer.
The packaging is what caught my eye in the first place - a gorgeous navy blue triangular, plastic tube with a shiny gold lid. On first inspection I thought it was a foundation because of the way it was presented, however I soon realised it was infact a liquid concealer and a very classy looking one at that! The tube contains 15ml of product which is a healthy amount for a concealer as you are probably only going to use a 5 pence piece amount each day so it will last! I love the design and techniques of the packaging as it is very simple to access the product right down to the last drop! As with some, in a bottle formation, a lot of your concealer is unattainable due to the mechanism of the design. But not with this one!
There are only three shades to choose from which would be a bit of a disadvantage for me as it is not that varied. They are 'Light' which is a quite pale, pearly cream with a faint pinkish tone - it works well for my complexion, but I find if I apply too much I tend to take on a faint pinkish hue! So use sparingly. The next shade is 'Medium' which is a light tan colour that would suit anyone with an olive to medium skin tone, I love the colour of this shade as it has a gorgeous glossy finish, I'd love to be able to pull it off! And the final shade is entitled 'Deep' which as the name suggests is a deep tan colour that would be perfect for darker skin tones that gives a lovely finish.
Once you twist off the lid and squeeze a little product onto your fingers, it feels very creamy and almost silky! I could not wait to try it, I find that it works best to dot some on to the area you wish to conceal and then blend in with a concealer brush, cotton bud or your fingers. I only intended to use this on my under eyes but I have since been using it on any blemishes that appear as it is amazing! It does not feel cakey or patchy and doesn't make your face appear dry or chalky, it gives the surface of your skin a slight sheen and erases all the imperfections! This concealer claims to provide a 'translucent veil of colour that conceals dark circles, shadows and minor imperfections.' I couldn't have put it better myself - the dark circles under my eyes have 'disappeared' and it does not settle and make lines appear deeper so that's an added bonus! Also it's light-diffusing formula helps minimise the appearance of lines and wrinkles, so if you suffer from the effects of ageing then I really would recommend this product as I love the effect it produces and im sure you will too! Vitamin E is also added to the mix to prevent the signs of ageing and although I am only 18 I want to start preventing it early! Although it isn't Botox or fillers but I think it's the next best thing!
If you are fed up with the puffiness of tired eyes, like I am then worry no more - a blend of gentle botanicals soothe, calm and minimise the mild swelling, leaving your eyes open, gorgeous and shining! I always look for products that contain SPF to keep skin even more healthy and this one is not an exception containing a non-chemical sunscreen SPF 8!
I could not recommend this enough! It's a staple in m routine and as soon as it runs out I am off to buy another - the price ranges from £16.49 - £18 depending on where you choose to bu. Available at Boots, Selfridges, Harrods, John Lewis, House of Frasier, and all good online make up stores. Pop this one and feel as though you've travelled back in time!
This concealer is a smoothing crème concealer that claims to disguise dark circles, lines and shadows, soothe away puffiness, moisturise and protect - whoa!
I bought it when my usual stick ran out and fancied a change.
I had never tried a liquid concealer before and am very pleased with its appearance on my skin, it covers my under eye dark circles effectively without them looking caked up and corrects those horrible shadows I get in the corners of my eyes. Haven't got many lines yet to comment on - but as I am nearly 30 it won't be too long!
I'm not sure if I need it to moisturise and soothe/protect my skin as I use a good eye cream anyway and can't say that using this on top of it has improved the skin around my eyes any further! That's just my opinion though! I suppose it could be of benefit to those who don't use eye cream or use it more for spots than eyes - but again surely you would use a seperate spot cream? I get the odd spot and it does cover them well, again not looking caked up.
It's quite a dense formula that spreads very easily - I find it easiest to apply using my fingertips although you could use a brush for a more professional finish. It has a very light fragrance and lasts very well with no need to reapply.
The light shade suits my skin tone perfectly and it's also available in barely mauve, medium and deep to ensure a good match. It contains SPF which is always a bonus, and it's fine on my sensitive skin.
One of the best things about this product is the tiny amount of concealer that is dispersed from the tube with a gentle squeeze making it easy to get the required amount - the tiniest dab goes a long way - I have had this since last summer and it's still going strong!
Packaged in a dark blue box it comes in a 15ml dark blue tube with a gold screw top lid, priced at around £15 (as it does last well I think it's excellent value for money) it's available from department stores, online and in some larger high street chemists.
