I bought this Eucerin Dry Skin 10% on the recommendation of my neighbour, who’s daughter suffers from contact dermatitis. My own daughter has very bad eczema and anyone who reads my reviews on a regular basis will be familiar with my never ending problems of trying to find that “magic” cure for her. The best stuff we have found so far is the lotion from the Aveeno Range but even that has stopped working as effectively as it used to do and so this is why I tried Eucerin Dry Skin 10%.
I bought my bottle from Boots and it cost me just under £3 which I didn’t think was too bad. I suppose I could have got it on prescription for her and this got it free, but I just happened to see this lotion when I was in there the other month and bought it on the spur of the moment as it had been recommended to me.
I have to say that this stuff actually seemed to make my daughter’s eczema far far worse than it had been before I used it. She told me it “stings” and at first I didn’t really believe her as she has a tendency to play me up when I try to apply lotions to her skin. I continued to apply it, paying particular attention to the crooks of her elbows and the backs of her knees where it is worse.
The lotion was incredibly greasy and there was no way this was going to sink into her skin. It had an odd kind of smell, not unpleasant just odd. The following day I applied more and it looked like her skin was starting to become inflamed. I range my AG and was told to stop using it immediately as the urea in the product was actually having an adverse effect on her skin and she was reacting badly to it.
I ended up feeling really guilty about using it but I had idea this would happen. I have used it on my own legs a few times but I don’t like it as it is slimy and very greasy and it does nothing for me at all.
I cannot recommend this lotion at all.
I bought this for my older brother as he has a tendency to have really dry skin, especially during the extreme weather seasons of winter and summer. His skin was flaky and although he doesn't have eczema, it would often look as though he did. As a man in his mid 20s, having difficulty with his dry skin made him uncomfortable amongst his peers. It really impacted his self confidence. I came across the Eucerin lotion as I was looking for my own skincare products. At an offer of £2.65 in Boots, it was really cheap in comparison to the benefits it stated to have.
When my brother applied this it instantly cooked down his skin and he reported that his skin didn't feel 'thirsty' as it had done before. He applied a liberal amount and massaged it in for 30 seconds or so. It instantly erased the flaky look he had on his cheeks and they looked less red. However, after a few minutes he noticed that his face had become quite greasy. The lotion took him from one extreme to another, from dry to oily. I tried some of the cream myself and noticed that there was quite a lot of residue on my hand which I could feel as I tried to wash my hands. It also seemed to transfer onto clothes and cutlery.
My brother decided that he would only apply this cream during the night, whereby he could wash it off in the morning and then apply a lighter cream for the day. It has definitely calmed down his dry skin.
I bought this lotion for my baby. We have tried different creams and lotions before including prescribed ones. Nothing helped. The skin was red, itchy and very dry. So when I bought Eucerin, I didn't expect miracles. But now I can't praise it enough. It started working the next day literally. The lotion removed redness and made the skin soft and supple. I would highly recommend it! Also for me, I've tried many creams before but they didn't work as my skin would still feel rough after a few hours. I started using this after reading positive reviews about it as I have a skin condition where my skin feels bumpy. The cream is thick and a bit greasy when applied to the skin but it gives exceptional results overnight. I apply this before I go to bed and wake up with super soft skin! The bumps on my arms and legs feel much smoother when I use this. It is definitely recommended to people who have very dry skin. Unfortunately, keep in mind this stuff is very greasy. That is a small price to pay for a fantastic value. Greasy just means it is super effective. This was absolutely best case scenario for me and I hope it will be for others who try it too. Okay so the product was not so easy to rub in, its a thick gel like but looks like a normal cream. It also left my belly sticky and my hands...so don't wear your fancy clothes or wait until it fully absorbs into your skin before getting your work clothes and wash your hands afterwards. It has like a citrus herb medicinal smell- basically it doesnt stink. It has only been 3 days so I dont know if I'm jumping the gun but I was truly surprised to see results and results that fast. It has been a great booster to the ego, OH I still have stretch marks but thats ok because this cream is not for stretch marks so dont confuse the two. I have not tried it on my legs or arms, I may but I ran track for years so thats not my area of concern. So if you're a mom with a "brain belly" splurge on this and get it!!!
You know the worst thing in the entire universe? Eczema. Im almost positive it was a disease created and spread by evil dermatologists so they could score buckets of cash off common folk like you and me. This is why I'm appreciative that Eucerin is there making a dry skin lotion that not only keeps your skin as smooth as a newborn baby in a velvet onesie successfully picking up ladies at the playboy mansion based on his swag skills alone but one that helps fight eczema. Now I won't go as far to say Eucerin is the greatest lotion that ever existed because that would be an obvious lie considering I haven't tried all the lotions out there. Theres at least five I haven't used yet. I want to be honest with you because I know you really need a reliable lotion here. Eucerin is a good way to go. Say adios to that unwanted dry skin. Eucerin knows and respects its consumer and they want to help you so you can recommend their product to your friends and family. Take me for example. My skin used to be as rough as sand paper. My father would actually use my arms as sand paper to work on his crafts. Eucerin put an end to that. On a serious note not only did it relive me of my bad skin it gave me the confidence to pursue my goal of being an actor at age 34 because I now have the skin of an 18 year old. Keep in mind this stuff is greasy. You're things my get greasy if you don't wipe off your hands. Thats a small price to pay. Greasy just means its be super effective. Trust Eucerin the lotion that was practically made for just for your skin.
I bought this in an attempt to get my eczema under control.
This was bought from the supermaketa nd was not not cheap, £11.99 I paid.
The ,lotion is quite runny and greasy but easy to squeeze out.
It is not scented and has a very clinical and medical smell. Not the one to use if you are planning a romantic evening with your partner!
The lotion is smoothed over the body well as it is quite thin but it doesnt seem to soak into the skn and sits on top of the skin leaving a very greasy feeling which was very unpleasent. When trying to get dresse after I felt that the lotion was sticking to my clothes and just rubbing away.
Not sure if it really did anything at all to my skin. Tried it as long as I could but I could stand the greasinessbut the greasiness was really too much to see if it did anythint gofr my skin. In the few weeks I used it it made no difference.
If you can handle the greasy feeling then this may well work for you but I was finding my bedding covered too.
Eucerin 10% Lotion
I have had eczema on my face for the past few years and it results in incredibly dry, flaky and sensitive skin, which is not great. Due to my skin being really flaky and dry the only products I have been able to use on it are heavy moisturisers and tinted moisturisers. I have been using steroid creams on my face for the same amount of time (about 2/3 years) and when used for long periods of time they can thin the skin and at 18 I have a couple very thin lines under my eyes which I think has been caused by the creams - so not wanting yo use them any more I looked for other creams which may help and I found this and I am so glad that I did!
*About the product*
There are different size bottle containers for this product and I have the small travel size 30ml bottles. They just have a flat nozzle at the top to dispense the product - they don't have a pump or anything which would be quite useful as the lotion does not smell good at all!
Urea 10% w/w, benzyl alcohol, PEG-45/dodecyl glycol copolymer, methoxy PEG-22/dodecyl glycol copolymer, sorbitan isostearate, PEG-2 hydrogenated castor oil, ozokerite, hydrogenated castor oil, PEG-7 hydrogenated castor oil, light liquid paraffin, isopropyl palmitate, mediumchain triglycerides, octyldodecanol, glycerol, sodium lactate solution, lactic acid, magnesium sulphate, dimethicone, purified water.
*My opinion of the product*
I do like the packaging in some ways as it is simple and it is easy to use but because it only has a small flat nozzle at the top of the bottle it means that it is a bit more messy to dispense the product and to apply it. The lid of the bottle is not a screw top lid, it just pulls off, but it is quite secure and it has not leaked out the product from the bottle.
-Appearance, colour, consistency/texture
The moisturiser is white in colour and it just looks like any other moisturiser. It has a really thick consistency, if I put a small amount of the moisturiser on the back of my hand it does not run off at all - although when the lotion it a bit warmer (due to the heat now) it becomes a bit more runny but it still does not move very much on my hand.
For me the only draw back to this product is the scent. It says on the bottles that I have that it is fragrance free and it really isn't. It smells like rubber or plastic and it is not very nice at all. I always have to wash my hands after applying this product because of the scent on my hands afterwards. After a few minutes or when the product has absorbed I can not smell the scent on my skin anymore though.
-How I use the product
This product is suitable for body and face, I use it on my face as I onl get eczema on my face. I use this product everyday, in the morning and at night. I use a different amount each day/night depending on how dry my skin is. I usually tend to use more product at night so my skin gets an extra moisture boost at night.
I use about a 50p size amount on my face twice a day, but I usually end up dispensing out far too much and end up wasting some of the product. I also have really dry skin so I use more anyway.
I apply the moisturiser by tipping the bottle at an angle and dispensing some of the product onto my finger tips and then I dot the lotion on my face. I then rub it into my skin gently in small circular motions and make sure that it is all over.
The application of this product is ok, it is a little bit messy and it does get all over my hands when applying and rubbing the product in. The application does not take very long as the product distributes and covers my skin quickly - As the lotion has a really smooth silky texture which makes it apply really well to my skin.
The only thing I don't like about the application of this product is the scent. The scent is not very nice and it does make me cringe slightly when I use this product, but that is the only negative point against this product.
Before using this product I had been using steroid creams such as hydrocortisone from my dermatologist - which do work at clearing up my eczema, but they do thin the skin over a long period of use. So not really wanting to use the steroid creams I also tried many different moisturisers, such as simples derma eczema moisturiser, other heavy moisturisers and creams specifically for eczema - which did not work for my skin.
But for my skin the results are amazing with this product! I have been using this moisturiser on its own (with no other moisturiser or steroid creams) for about a month or longer and my skin looks so much better. This moisturiser has almost completely gotten rid of all of my dryness and flakiness on my skin caused by the eczema. It has also improved the appearance of my skin and it also seems to have reduced my eczema a lot!
Before using this product I was not able to wear any kind of foundation or powder as my skin was incredibly dry (even products designed for dry ski were no match for my skin) but using this product has allowed me to wear any kind of foundation as my skin is not flaky or dry anymore. I have been able to wear the clinique repairwear foundation (previously reviewed), which I would not have even contemplated buying before.
I have been using this lotion for about a month or longer I can't remember and it has worked fantastically for my skin - it has not reacted with my skin in a negative way, it does not feel very greasy and it is not too heavy on my skin. I would say that this product is only suitable for people with dry skin, as it may be far too heavy for some people. I would also recommend this product to people who have atopic eczema like I do as it has completely gotten rid of my dryness and flakiness and it has also really cleared up my eczema (it is almost gone now)!
-Price and availability
I bought this product from a trusted ebay seller and I bought two small travel size 30ml bottles the first time and last week I bought another two 30ml bottles as I did not want to run out of it and have my skin return to how it was before. I have 30ml bottles of this product and I takes me about 3 weeks to go through one 30ml bottle. I bought it for about £4 for 60ml and you can also buy it from Boots for £11, for 250ml (Lloyds pharmacy has the same price). I prefer to buy the smaller 30ml bottles are they are a more travel friendly size and are easy and light to carry around.
*Has gotten rid of my dryness and flakiness
*Has almost completely cleared up my eczema (which was quite severe before)
*Easy to apply and it comes in travel sizes
*Fantastic for my very dry eczema skin
*very moisturising, hydrating, softening and smoothing
*Does not irritate my skin and does not feel too heavy on my skin
*Smell is not very nice at all - but after the lotion has absorbed the scent is not noticeable
