The Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea is available for GBP 11.00.
The face cream is described as follows. "Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Face Cream intensively moisturises dry, tight, rough and flaky facial skin. It is rapidly absorbed and contains the natural moisturising factor urea to support the regulation of the skin’s moisture content. Urea is a moisturiser naturally present in healthy skin. In many dry skin conditions the skin's natural Urea levels are reduced with leads to further moisture loss. This face cream actively helps replenish the Urea lost when the skin becomes dry and improves the skin's ability to retain moisture."
Also this lotion is packaged in a plastic bottle. The bottle is white with a blue screw with smooth screw so you can put them well on the head, so that the last remnant lotion flows down and can be easily pushed out. Both on the front and on the back a transparent, in shades of blue and red printed label is present in each case. On the back you will find the indication of the ingredients and the manufacturer's information, a brief application instructions and a description of the results. On the front of the Eucerin logo is printed and the exact product. This lotion is a medical skin care unscented. I feel the white lotion compared to other body lotions relatively firm when you squeeze out of the bottle. It remains as drops or dab on the skin without passing. The nose on the bottle opening I smell - nothing! If I make an effort strong, I mean, to perceive a slightly medicinal smell, but really only very slightly. As the lotion is quite thick in my opinion, I was actually surprised at how well they can rub, even if I have the impression that I need a relatively large amount of this lotion to treat all parts of the body. After I apply the cream evenly distributed and rubbed, I was waiting for this white lotion is absorbed by the skin. After applying the distension of the skin on the affected areas declines very rapidly. On other parts of the body, I can also see any more tense skin, the skin surface is velvety soft, supple and smooth, but a bit too greasy for my terms. The rough areas have become much better within one week of daily use so that this lotion with me, at least in these parts of the body for something good. By the time I'm then gone over, only the dry and especially to treat rough parts of the body and to use a different lotion for the rest of the body. I have found neither redness nor itching or even allergic reactions. The lotion I very well tolerated by the skin reaction ago. The lotion of Eucerin's completely odorless according to the manufacturer what you noticed when you have your nose over the bottle opening. Thus would be really all right.
Like many others, my skin has really suffered from effects of the freezing and desperately dry weather combined with incessent hot and drying central heating. I already have eczema patches to deal with a best of times and this is definitely not the best of skin times.
I have a ridiculous stash of face creams in my bathroom cabinets due to a freebie habit, living within a few minutes walk of two branches of Boots, two large department stores and a couple of supermarkets. This has meant that I have been combining 'Project Run Down The Stash' with 'Find Something That Actually Works' to stop bits of my face falling off while other areas break out in monster zits when faced with some very nice and very expensive serums.
All of this brought me to Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream with 5% of the grossly named if not actually what it sounds like Urea and Lactate.
It was not the prettiest mouisteriser in the stash. The container is very plain, with a blue plastic top and a 'does what it says on the tin' approach to telling the customer what the cream is and how to use it.
That is the usual apply in the morning after cleansing method. When using, you do get the reasurance that the cream is fragrance and colourant free as well as being dermatologically tested.
Sure enough, the cream is a simple white in colour and smells of nothing much at all, let alone expensive perfumes. But the important thing is how well or otherwise this product works.
And this product does work.
On application as per instruction, it feels like my parched skin is mainlining the contents of a water bottle. It feels like its thirst is quenched. The dryness visibly disappears too. My skin feels more relaxed and looks as well as feels softer. All of this without feeling greasy, as the cream is still light and easily absorbed.
And most importantly, no more pieces of my eyebrow skin flaking away in uncomfortable and unsightly chunk like flakes.
This product does claim to be shown in clinical trials to be effective for dry, very dry and eczema prone skin. In my own trial on me, my skin concurrs with this verdict.
It has relieved m dry skin and stopped the flakiness all without irritating my sensitive skin. It has provoked no major breakouts and proved itself both gentle and effective.
It has done all of this at the very reasonable price , given how effective it is, of £11.00 or 1100 Advantage Points from Boots.
In short, given how well it works, it is great value for money and worth trying by all those whose skin is suffering in this weather.
Ok so i thought I would write a review on this cream as I suffer from eczema and therefore I understand how uncomfortable this is to have, especially on your face. So I get eczema on the area below my nose and above my lips. I also get eczema on the side of my lips aswell. For those of you who dont have eczema, just thought I would let you know its a dry skin condition so it tends to be sore, dry, can split, raised and thickened skin, along with flaky skin.
I went to boots and spoke to a lady who said she has recently had a cold and she had used this cream. So I bought this which is more tends to cost slightly more than a normal mosituriser. I went to a public toilet and put this cream on in the mirror and I thought WOW! literally, within seconds of applying the cream I felt instantly releived. It wasnt burnong or itchy anymore and instantly releived the dryness. This cream is not greasy and was great for my face. I was wondering actually why my doctor hadnt told me about it earlier as usually I used prescribed creams on my face but they are limited as sometimes they contain steroids.
Ok, so i thought I would mention I used this cream for a week and the initial reasons I bought the cream started coming back suck as the dry, flakyand intchy skin. I continued to use the cream however it did not relieve the symptoms at all. I had to then go and buy another cream.
So overall initially its great but you have to vary this as it doesnt keep the symtoms away. It was great at first but its not a long term option! The initial relief was amazing however I was dissapointed that it didnt work after a week.
Eucerin dry skin face cream (5% urea formula)
This face cream is called the dry skin relief cream on dooyoo and on the boots website but on the bottle it says 'dry skin replenishing face cream 5% urea. I have this version (5%) and I also have the 10% urea cream too - I do prefer this cream over the more intensive one as it does not smell as much and it is thinner in consistency.
- Product description and ingredient list (from boots.com)
"Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Face Cream with 5% Urea is a gentle facial moisturiser for the daily care of dry, tight, rough and scaly skin."
"Aqua, Urea, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Triisostearin, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Lactate, Glyceryl Stearate, Benzyl Alcohol, PEG-40 Stearate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Methylparaben, Lactic Acid, Lanolin Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol."
- About the product
I have tried a few products from eucerin such as the 10% urea cream, the 5% night cream and this product - which along with the night cream is great. This facial moisturiser is fragrance free and it is colourant free too - so it is great for sensitive skin, which I have. This cream contains urea and lactate, natural moisturisers. I have the 50ml tube of this cream and it is a great size and it has lasted me a while as I mix it with my simple rich moisturiser. The tube container is fantastic and it has a small nozzle at the end which makes it really easy to dispense a small/controlled amount of product.
- Scent, texture and consistency
Firstly, the eucerin 10% cream (which is the same as this but it contains more urea) smells really strongly and it does not smell nice at all - although even though it was fairly strongly scented it did not irritate my skin at all! This cream however as it contains only 5% urea it does not smell horrible at all really, which is great as it makes this product nicer to use. The scent of this cream is a bit like plastic/playdoh, which isn't that nice but it is a lot better than the scent of the 10% cream. The texture of this product is basically the same as the 10% version as it has a really smooth, silky, creamy texture which makes it feel nice on the skin - especially if your skin is sensitive and or very dry. The consistency of this product, in my opinion is one of the best points about this product for me. The 10% version of this cream had an incredibly thick consistency which made it hard to massage into the skin and it made my skin feel heavy and a bit greasy but this 5% cream has a much thinner consistency in comparison to the 10% cream. Overall the scent is ok, the texture is really nice and smooth and the consistency is thick but nowhere near as heavy/thick as the 10% urea cream from eucerin.
- Using the product and results
When my eczema used to flare up and look/feel really horrible I used this cream (or the 10% version) on its own and it would work really well for my extremely dry and sensitive skin but as my eczema is about 90% gone now (thanks to a miracle non steroid cream) I can use my other moisturisers instead of incredibly heavy/thick moisturisers. So I have been using this moisturiser mixed with my Simple Rich Facial Moisturiser which I cannot recommend enough! I mix about 40% of this cream with 60% of the Simple moisturiser and it works really well for my skin as I find the simple rich moisturiser is a little bit thinner/less moisturising than I need. Mixing this cream and the Simple one is really quick and easy and it makes a gorgeous, fairly thick moisturiser for me - and I can adjust the percentage/amount of each moisturiser depending on how my skin is. For example, it my skin is feeling less dry (unusual, but it does happen occasionally) then I will use less or this cream in the mixture and if my skin is feeling drier and more sensitive then I will use about 60% of this cream in the mixture I make.
This moisturiser on its own does apply really nicely to the skin due to the smooth texture but I find that I do end up pulling my skin a little bit with this moisturiser on its own as it is fairly thick. When mixed with my Simple rich moisturiser this cream applied and massages into my skin so much better and it does not pull on my skin really. After being massage gently into the skin I then have to wait for a couple of minutes for the moisturiser to sink in before I apply my make up or if I am using this at night I will wait a little bit longer for the cream to sink in. Once applied and massaged into the skin my skin can look a little greasy but after the cream sinks in this is reduced. My skin feels like it is in a cocoon after using this moisturiser, it has been a life saver for me when my eczema was really bad as this cream really soothes my sensitive skin and it really helps with dryness and irritation!
Overall I cannot rate this product highly enough, it works well with my skin and it really makes my skin feel smooth, hydrated, soothed and it does not irritate my skin at all. When my facial eczema was really bad it felt horrible as my face felt very sore, irritated, burning/stinging most of the time and this cream really helped calm my skin and sooth my skin so much! I have been using eucerin 10% and this cream for about a year now and I cannot recommend the brand/products enough!
- Price and availability
I purchased this cream a while ago from boots and it is currently priced at £10.79, which does seem like a bit much for a moisturiser but this product is so worth the money , as for me anyway this product has really helped my skin when it has been burning/stinging/itching. There a quite a lot of moisturisers in this range such as the 10% cream which I would also recommend but I would mix the 10% cream with a thin moisturizer to make it easier to massage into the skin.
*Tube packaging - easy to use and hygienic
*Does not irritate my skin at all
*Very soothing on my skin and calms irritation/burning/stinging/itching really well
*Smooth texture and weak scent - also does not contain added fragrance or colourants
*Leaves my skin feeling smooth, hydrated, soothed and not tight or uncomfortable
*Price? Although I think this product is definitely worth the money!
Thank you for reading my review
I have been using this product for about six months now and as a sufferer of sensitive and dry skin I really like this product. It is available in most branches of boots and is part of a range of products including bath cream and hand moisturiser designed for specifically dry skin. It is expensive at just over £10.00 and you do not get a lot for your money but you do not need to use a lot. It is feels intense and very moisturising and is formulated with 5% urea which I guess is the magic ingredient. I have gone back to other moisturisers when my budget will not allow me to be so extravagant but nothing else feels the same as this product and I am happy to spend the money to avoid the horrible tight feeling on my face that you can get with other product which are more watered down. I recently brought the night version of the cream by mistake but I could not feel much difference from the day version other than it being a little heavier. I love the lack of glamour with this product and feel that although it is quite dear it is actually doing what it claims to without having a fancy label and scientists in LA attached to it. Well worth a try.
I first tried this as a free sample given away in boots a few years ago now and i loved it so went back and bought more, I used to suffer with dry skin on my face so much so that the skin around my nose would crack and bleed. since using eucerin i have had no problems with dryness at all! it is great for sensitive skin as i have extremely sensitive skin and have had no trouble with this product even around the eye area. it leaves your skin feeling fully moisturised but its not too heavy (well i dont find it too heavy, my sister hates it as she does find it too heavy so i guess it depends on your skin type) I find it soaks in quickly leaving your skin soft and supple and keeps dryness at bay all day. sometimes i do apply this twice in the morning before applying makeup if i dont feel moisturized enough but so far this is the only moisturisor i have found with leaves my skin feeling great and i no longer suffer from sore, cracked skin
Eucerin dry skin relief face cream.
I am a sucker for freebies .and this product was a free sample offer I received after visiting their website (through a link from a freebies website) The first time I tried it I loved it and rushed out to Boots the next day and treated myself to the tube which cost me £10 but is worth every penny!
I suffer from dry skin and am prone to the odd eczema outbreak every now and then, especially if I get stressed in any way. This cream is a godsend to me, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the same position! I especially suffer from dry and sometimes flaky skin on my forehead and cheeks, this can be very unsightly and sometimes uncomfortable, and looks a complete mess if I try to put any make up on if I want to go out! (I must stress I don't wear make up unless I am going for a night out or somewhere special)
This is a thick white cream which just sinks into the skin and leaves my usually dry skin feeling very soft and smooth, it doesn't leave my hands or face feeling greasy, and is quite matt looking once it has sunk in too. So no need for adding powder unless you want to. It is suitable for daily use and is even suitable for using on children (although not recommended for under 1 year) so it must be quite mild. I have never used it on my own children as my son's eczema cleared up years ago!
I could give a long list of ingredients but I won't as I haven't a clue what most of them are, It does contain 5% urea which is a natural moisturiser which is present in healthy skin. In some people who have dry skin the urea levels are reduced and so the skin becomes even more dry.
It also contains lanolin alcohol and glycerine for anyone who may be allergic.
I have used this product after having my eyebrows waxed and it didn't irritate me at all, and have also used it prior to applying make up last week before going out .which left my skin feeling a lot better next morning too. Normally when I wear make up my skin looks and feels tired and dry the next day.
They do warn not to use it on broken/cracked skin or cuts etc as it may irritate!
There is no noticeable smell to this cream and no colour to it either (white) so it will not stain clothes or overpower any other perfumes you may wear.
A little of this cream goes a long way, I only use about a thumbnail amount for my whole face and neck, I use this about once a day, sometimes twice but sometimes less too, I find also that the more I use it, the less I need to use it, if that makes sense?
I've been using it now for about 2 weeks and have noticed an improvement in my skin already, I estimate the tube to last me about 6-9months at least, as I only use a little drop at a time.
The tube is 50ml and is available from most Boots stores, you can check the Eucerin website for your nearest stockists and also to order your free sample!
Eucerin also offer a wide range of moisturising products including night cream, shower and bath therapy, scalp relief shampoo, hand cream and soothing spray.
Another thing I've only just found out by looking at the site is that Eucerin is not tested on animals, they stopped this practice in 1977.
Ooooh another thing I've just found out is that this cream can be available on prescription from your doctor if they are willing to give you it .it would work out a little cheaper even if you pay for your prescriptions .I don't at the moment being a student, I will remember this next time I need some)
