      gorgeous peppermint balm

I absolutely adore the Figs and Rouge balms range. All of their products are 100% pure, 100% organic and 100% natural. All of their products are also made in the UK. They retail at £4.99 each, and I've bought all of mine from Urban Outfitters. I've been really impressed with the range and I can highly recommend it.

      Figs and Rouge do a number of different balms;
Peppermint & Tea Tree (soothing with anti-bacterial agents),
      Rambling Rose (moisturising and protecting),
      Sweet Geranium (conditioning and hydrating),
      Pomegranate (nourishing and moisturising),
Aloe & Mint (soothing and protecting),
      Wild Cherry (silky smooth lips!),
and Coco Vanilla (delicious and indulgent).

The Figs and Rouge balms all come in little tins, a bit like tins of Vaseline, and all of the tins are actually very retro inspired, they are all very beautifully designed and look lovely either in your handbag or on your dressing table. The Peppermint & Tea Tree balm is contained in a beautifully retro designed white tin with a kind of leafy pattern on, it's a little bit of a hippy chick design I would say, and the lid flips off just like a tin of Vaseline to get to the balm. Here's where the similarity with Vaseline ends. The Figs and Rouge balms are much more solid and waxy balms, as they don't contain any petroleum like Vaseline does. The Peppermint & Tea Tree balm is a clear balm, there's no colour in it.

The Peppermint & Tea Tree balm has a gorgeous, delicious minty and refreshing peppermint fragrance, I can smell the peppermint in this more than the tea tree, in fact I'm not sure that I can detect the tea tree in this at all. The gorgeous fresh peppermint scent lingers on my skin for quite some time after I've applied this balm.

The balms are advertised as lip, hand, face and body balms, and I would say that this is accurate as I've used the balms in a number of ways so far, and have been really impressed with them.
I've used this as a lip balm either alone or under lip gloss or lipstick, it is not greasy at all it just glides over my lips leaving them soft and smooth. It just leaves a gleam rather than a shine like some other lip balms, it's not sticky and gloopy at all. It really soothes and protects dry and chapped lips, and it really feels intensely moisturising and healing as you rub it in.
I've also used it on dry patches on my face overnight and found that they'd vanished by the morning. I've rubbed it into other dry patches on my skin and again found that it really soothes and heals them. It does actually feel really calming, soothing and nourishing as soon as you rub it into your skin.
I've rubbed it into the backs of my hand and it really seems to improve the texture of my hands.
The balm is really easily absorbed, wherever you choose to use it, it's really soothing and nourishing, and it really does seem to protect my skin.

I always have one of the Figs and Rouge balms permanently in my handbag, and on my dressing table now to use throughout the day. Although they are only small tins of balm, at 8ml, a little bit of this really does go a long way. I do find that less is more with these, and a very small amount of the balm really does work best.

Cute, nourishing and 100% organic, and my new favourite lip balm!

As part of my most recent Glossybox I was pleased to receive a Figs & Rouge lip balm. It is something that I had been meaning to try out for a long time but, like I'm sure most women, I seem to have amassed so many lip balms that they are not something I really justify buying any more until I use some up.

I will admit that I'm quite fussy about lip balms. I don't like anything too sticky, thick or greasy, and I'm especially not crazy about balms with drying, tingly ingredients which trick people into thinking their lips a favour but make them more chapped in the long run. So I was really pleased to try out something 100% organic with no nasty ingredients at all.

The balm I received was Peppermint & Tea Tree, which I admit was a little disappointing as I liked the sound of some of the other flavours much better, but I don't dislike peppermint so I still looked foward to using the balm. As it happens, the scent is quite mild and even smells organic (rather than the candy-type peppermint often found in lip balms) and I don't really notice a flavour as such when the balm is on my lips. I can't comment on whether the other varities are stronger but if you're not a fan of strongly-scented/flavoured balms, don't be put off by the fact that this contains normally pretty pungent extracts.

The first thing that struck me about the balm is the consistency. It transfers easily onto the finger and is almost grainy, at first I used way too much by accident because I'm used to having to rub at a balm much harder to get any out. With the right amount, the balm sinks in quite easily and doesn't feel greasy on the lips. After a couple of minutes it has sunk completely in, so it doesn't interfere with eating and drinking, but I still feel as though my lips are moisturised.

Besides the fact that it really does its job, and the fact that it is natural, my favourite thing about this balm is the beautiful packaging. The tin is small enough to slip into a pocket, and has a pretty vintage-style design on the lid.

The Figs & Rouge range can be found at larger Boots stores, and numerous websites. The balms are all completely natural and can be found from around £3 each, which I feel is great value for something of such good quality. Apart from being used on the lips, they can act as a moisturiser for dry elbows, cuticles etc and are handy to have in your handbag. I'll definitely continue to use these balms - maybe in a more fun flavour next time!
