I have been considering buying myself a Clarisonic Cleansing System for about a year now and kept going back and forth on the idea as it seemed like quite a big beauty investment at well over £100. I was therefore quite excited to have received a Foreo Luna Mini as a Christmas gift.
What immediately struck me was that it could not look more different than its competitor. A fairly small disc shape that is not a traditional brush head but what seems to be silicone tips that use sonic technology to deeply cleanse the skin.
The Luna Mini is easy to use. I have simply been wetting my skin, applying a couple of pumps of my normal foaming cleanser, pressing the button the Luna Mini and starting at my chin slowing working my way around my face. There are two speed settings and it is recommended that you use the gentler of the two setting on your cheek area nearing the eyes. The unit is a little like an electric toothbrush in that it pauses for a second when it is time to move to the next part of your face and automatically turns itself off at the recommended time. The unit is waterproof so can easily be used in the bath or shower.
I have been using my Luna Mini for a couple of weeks now and am impressed at how clean and smooth my skin feels after using it. I am pleased to see my skin looking clearer already. I personally have been using it every other day and feel that is enough for my combination skin type.
The unit is rechargeable through a usb lead supplied and apparently lasts up to 300 uses per charge. I cannot vouch for this claim as I have only had my unit a couple of weeks but as yet I have not had to recharge it.
From what I have seen online, the RRP for the Luna Mini seems to be £99 although some beauty sites were listing it in the sales at £79. I feel this is incredible value since, not only is the initial outlay less than it is competitors but, you do not need to be paying out for replacement brush heads repeatedly at approximately £20 a time. This is not only cost effective but also makes the unit more hygienic.
It is available in a variety of vivid colours which are make an attractive edition to anyone's beauty cabinet.
I'm a Bzzagent so was given the chance to try this product for the reduced price of £27.99.
The idea of the Luna Mini is that it is T-sonic facial cleaning brush. Made of silicone it is supposed to be easy to clean and leaves your skin looking cleaner, brighter and younger.
According to their website: "Just 1 minute's use morning and night will leave the skin looking naturally beautiful with a healthy-looking glow, while dirt, oil and makeup residue are driven away. Simply apply your cleanser of choice, wet the LUNATM mini, turn it on and cleanse your way to clearer and cleaner skin."
***Using the Luna Mini***
The Luna Mini comes in a plastic case which makes it easy to transport and keep clean. In order to use it is really simple - you put your cleanser on the brush and then turn it on. There are two settings to choose from: the first when you first turn it on is to cleanse your entire face while if you press the button again it provides a gentler pulse which you can use around the eye area.
It also comes with a USB cable to charge it up although in the months I have had it I have never had to recharge it.
***What I thought***
I must admit that when I got sent this product from Bzzagent I had high hopes and I am still on the fence about it. I must confess that I don't use the product twice a day but do use it most days and when I do use it I notice that my skin is really clean (so much so it brought me out in spots when I first used it).
Overall, it is really simple to use which I like and does feel nice on your skin - it is also really easy to transport because of its size. I have also not had to charge the battery since I first got it and it as held up well despite being kept on the side of the shower where it gets a lot of water on it. I also find it stays very hygienic and because it is silicone it is very easy to clean.
But how does it make my skin look? Well at first it brought me out in spots which are not ideal but now it does leave it very clean. However, beyond that I am not sure. My skin is quite smooth at the moment but that is largely due to my exfoliator and the fact I have changed moisturiser. I also get quite flaky skin in winter and when this happened I attacked it with the Luna mini, exfoliator and moisturiser so while that has cleared up I am not sure what has done that.
In conclusion I think I will keep using it but not sure I would pay full price for it because at £99 full price it seems a little bit costly to me.

***Why I want the product?***
I have seen Luna in different YouTube video's and magazines and liked how it was different from the every so popular Clairsonic that I cannot afford but soon realised Luna was in the same price bracket there was no way I could try this super new way of cleaning my skin until I got to free it for under half the price thanks to BzzAgent.
***About Luna Mini?
Luna Mini is a revolutionary product that has the ability to transform the look of your skin and Foreo say their Luna Mini can do this in an incredible three days.
Luna Mini helps to unclog your pores that lead to impurities and eliminating the causes of blemishes. Skin appears visibly clearer and healthier looking with a glow.
Luna Mini has T-Sonic technology (or transdermal sonic to you and I), this technology pulsations through smooth silicone touch points on the device. This makes Luna Mini a new approach to skincare that is deep while being gentle at the same time. The design is travel friendly and fully rechargeable making it great for travel.
Luna Mini is also waterproof so perfect while cleansing on the go.
I found the packaging for Luna Mini to be the three s's stylish, sleek and simple. Clear hard oval plastic container with a flat bottom held my Luna Mini in the colour of my choice, which is purple. Opening the case I first did not realise the device was held via a clear port that resembles a charging port so be careful to pull your device straight out to avoid damage.
My Luna was a vibrant purple, which I fell in love with. If purple is not your thing you can also choose from grey, pink, red and turquoise. The device is smaller than I thought but big enough to fit comfortably in the palm of my hand, the device feels so smooth and soft, almost like velvet and the silicone pads at the front and back really are smooth and none scratchy at all, which is a big plus for my sensitive skin. The silicone pads never need replacing and are hygienic due to the pads being nonporous it does not absorb the daily dirt and grime unlike brushes can. The back sees a port hole for charging but rest assured the device is full waterproof so can be used in the shower.
As a brand new device for your skin and unsure how to use your product comes complete with instructions, which I found useful. You are told a little about Luna Mini, what it does and how it will benefit your skin.
Foreo state to use Luna Mini for best results is to use it for no more than one minute a time and to use in upward strokes on your cheeks, forehead, nose and under the delicate under eye area. As Luna Mini has different speeds the lowest speed is recommended for the under eye.
The instructions also state Luna Mini with a full charge can last up to 300 uses, which I thought was brilliant.
***Using Luna Mini***
I like to use Luna Mini after I have taken my makeup off so I am cleansing my skin instead of rubbing the makeup back into my pores. The first use I was a little scared to be honest although excited as since the birth of my daughter five years ago my skin has become very sensitive at times and I am prone to breakouts now if not careful so I was a little worried. I only use Luna at night.
First use: I use milk cleanser with Luna Mini and while the device is in use it felt soft against my skin and no pressure was needed as it gilded along easily. The vibrations we're relaxing my facial muscles and did not feel harsh on my skin at all. After the first use I noticed my skin felt smoother and dare I say brighter all ready?
Second use: I started to enjoy using Luna Mini so much the device turned itself off at the three minute mark but thankfully I managed to do my whole face by then but it felt so relaxing. After cleansing my face my face felt clean and not as red as it can sometimes look after cleansing. I also noticed Luna brings spots to the surface quicker due to the cleansing action which means clearer skin quicker.
Third use: This is when they say you will see the difference in use and with me still using the device only once a day as I quickly realised my skin doesn't like it twice a day. I got no reactions; skin feels soft, although there is some redness visible it is not as bad as it can be. With no makeup my skin looks clam, clean smooth and brighter. So far very happy and with only three uses.
Continual use: Continual use I can see improvements in my skin but nothing unfortunately makes me go wow this is brilliant and this is what I wanted to feel like. But I cannot deny this is a brilliant product does the job well and thoroughly. My skin goes in circles sometimes but a lot of the time now my skin is clear with the odd spot that can take ages to clear but with Luna and spot cream I have noticed the blemishes to clear quicker than before, which is a great plus for me.
***How much and where?***
You can purchase Luna Mini and other devices in the same range but Luna Mini is priced at £99. You can purchase from FOREO.com or other retailers.
***Would I recommend to others?***
I would recommend Luna Mini as I loved the way it makes my skin feel even after one use, no other product or device can do that for me so that was a surprise. I am enjoying the continual use and no where near out of charge yet (so I think). But the price is steep in my opinion so I would look else where or wait for it to drop in price.
Foreo Luna Mini
I'm using the Luna Mini has part of a Bzzagent campaign which is when you get to trial products for, in this case, a reduced cost. The Luna Mini is usually £99.
I've held off on reviewing the Foreo Luna Mini until I had given it a fair few weeks of trial as I don't believe in rash, gushing judgements when it comes to a potentially expensive purchase. For the purpose of the review, I am in my early thirties, have combination skin that is also prone to dry flaky areas.
The luna Mini is the little sister in the Luna range, a sonic facial cleansing device that works by channeling "gentle T-SonicTM pulsations across the skin, for your own mini-facial in the comfort of your home". It is a broadly oval shape, fits in the palm of your hand, comes in a choice of colours, and is made from silicone with little dense spaced nodules that channel vibrations into your skin. The nodules vary in size depending in the area you are cleansing. It is charged by internal battery and one recharge can last 300 one minute cleansing sessions. This is pretty impressive and makes it a highly neat and portable device. In summary, it works similarly to the higher priced Clarisonic however it's use of silicone nodules instead of a brush means it is less course and scratchy, more hygienic, and also, ultimately, cheaper with no parts to replace.
I started using it a few weeks ago and immediately felt that my skin was softer and looked better. It has replaced my old flannel and over the trial I have definitely noticed that my skin is more glowing, less prone to spots, and generally looks masses better. I love the fact that it is so much more hygienic than using a flannel and I was surprised to realise how little time I spent cleansing my face. Even with the loveliest foam cleanser, in my case Mamamio's Clean Slate, a quick whip around the a flannel can never compare with a minute of cleansing with the Luna Mini. A minute is hardly a long time for such an important task.
I really rate how it works too as it divides a minute up into fifteen second sessions and it pulses to let you know to move on. So I start with my cheeks, fifteen seconds each, move over to my chin and nose and the final fifteen seconds is spent on my forehead. After a (quick) minute of using the Luna Mini I can be pretty sure I've had a through cleanse, one that is gentle and, having used it routinely twice a day, one that leaves my skin looking so much better.
In summary, a medium outlay on the Luna Mini will give you a cleverly designed tool that will last years (Foreo back it with a two year guarantee) and enable you to have glowing skin. In my case, the best I've had.
I purchased me Luna Mini as part of the Bzzz Agent promotion, and got it for the bargain price of £27 - but it retails at £99, however I have to say it seems to be a really well made piece of kit overall.
The product itself is a small flat round vibrating facial cleansing device - on one side at the top it has 'fingers' that are around 1mm think, and the other side has the same sized fingers at the top, and finer protrusions under them. I have to admit I was a little sceptical at reading about it, however as I have never been blessed with the clearest skin I thought it was worth a try (I had been looking into buying a product that needed to have it's heads replaced, but this one has nothing that needs to be replaced on it so even at full price over time is well worth the price). It comes with a lead that will charge it through a USB port all tidily placed in a see through pod shaped box.
I have oily combination skin, with enlarged pores (at the age of thirty) - and was definitely up for trying it to see if it would visibly improve how good my skin looked. The product claims to work within three days to clear skin - I have been using it now for several weeks and am very happy with how well it is working. After five days I could see the difference in my skin. The enlarged pores have shrunk, and my skin is now lovely and soft (not something that would normally happen in November). Overall my skin has improved vastly, it isn't perfect, but the difference was apparent really quickly after beginning to use this. I have used the product with my normal face wash (it has lathered well with a bit of water added to the device), and this for me has been a really effective method of cleansing my skin.
The product does recommend a routine to using it, although I have to admit I use upwards strokes all over my face, and then concentrate on my problem areas for as long as I have. The device has two power settings, the first being 'filling rattler', and the second a more gentle buzz. Although the makers recommend the first for most of the face, and the gentler speed for the sensitive under eye areas I have to admit I use the second speed all over my face, neck and décolletage.
The product has been made well, and has so far been waterproof (it's been dropped in the bath several times, and no dramas). The charge has held well, and I have only connected it to my PC once, for about an hour - as it came charged (but I like to make doubly sure).
The product is really easy to clean, and I just rinse it under the shower, or in the bath, and agitate the fingers or bristles. It comes with a two year limited warranty, and a 10 year quality guarantee, showing that the makers feel it is a product they can believe in.
For the sake of one minute twice daily, I cannot recommend this product enough. It has for me worked wonders. Definitely a five star product. (This review is a longer version of the review posted on the product website, by myself).
Disclaimer - I was sent this product to review by BzzAgent but I paid a contribution of £27.00 to receive it.
The Luna Mini retails at £99 and straight away there are obvious comparisons to a popular alternative vibrating cleansing brush system which uses an oscillating vibrating brush head. I own the competitor's product in pink so I am not averse to purchasing high end skincare products provided they actually work!
Foreo are a Swedish manufacturer I hadn't heard of before being offered the Luna Mini trial and there aren't a lot of reviews out there which is concerning when you are thinking of spending this much money. Hopefully this review will help you decide.
The Luna Mini arrives in a clear plastic case which is sealed with a sticker bearing its serial number. As others have mentioned, it's very reminiscent of the Apple Ipod Shuffle packaging. I like that the packaging is sealed so you know your Luna Mini is new and sanitary. You can register the Luna Mini on Foreo's website using the serial number to ensure you have purchased a genuine product and receive a two year warranty.
If like me - you travel a lot - I HIGHLY recommend you either keep the original outer packaging to put it in OR you let the battery run down and charge it at your destination.
There is no designated travel pouch or box which means the on/off button can be easily pressed leading to you ending up in a highly embarrassing situation if it starts vibrating in the airport.... especially since it looks like a certain brand of adult toy!
Like it's more well known competitor, you can have a Luna Mini in several colours - I received turquoise but you can also get pink, magenta, purple and grey (a salute to their male patrons I suppose).
The Luna Mini is made from Silicone which is a largely inert waterproof substance meaning you can use this in the shower with absolutely no problems.
I'm not a morning person so the fact I could use the Luna Mini in the shower while my conditioner was working really appealed to me!
I love that the 'brush' is actually lots of raised 'fingers' of silicone which is WAY more sanitary than it's obvious competitor with no requirement to keep buying expensive replacement brush heads.
Also more convenient than its competitor (which charges using a traditional plug charger), is the fact that you can charge the Luna Mini via USB which is much better when you're travelling as you can take one USB adaptor with you for all your tech needs.
The marketing blurb talks about the Luna Mini being 'a revolutionary new skincare concept' and 'the world's first T-sonic facial cleansing brush' which promises me 'a deep and gentle clean in just one minute' using 'transdermal sonic pulsations' which 'diminish the appearance of enlarged pores and blemishes'.
In plain English - the Luna Mini is a vibrating face brush and the vibrations are supposed to help break up dirt and sebaceous filaments in your skin better than a regular flannel meaning that you have a more effective cleanse and better skin as a result.
Foreo claim I'd notice a difference in my skin in just three days using it for one minute day and night.
I take pretty good care of my skin so I wasn't expecting any dramatic changes - I have very large pores - particularly on my nose and to the sides, and on my chin - I also have several areas on my forehead which are prone to blackheads and some sparce milia to my jawline - all of which I managed with my regular skin care regime. My skin in general is combination - an oily t-zone coupled with dehydration to the rest of my face means that harsh cleansers are a no-go.
An indirect benefit was that I found I could use a really gentle cleanser with the Luna Mini yet feel really cleansed afterwards without feeling like I'd stripped my face (which would inevitably lead to an even oilier t-zone).
Knowing that I needed to keep using the Luna Mini for a set amount of time meant I probably took quite a bit more care over my cleansing than I do normally - and that certainly paid off.
In combination with a gentle cleanser I found that my dry dehydrated patches subsided when using the Luna Mini - the Silicone fingers acted as a gentle daily exfoliator - I don't think I need a separate exfoliating product anymore so that's an impressive money-saving result. There was a moderate improvement in the pores on my nose - I'm not sure they got any smaller but I definitely felt they looked less 'clogged'. The most significant improvement was a reduction in the milia on my jaw line, I've tried allsorts to get rid of them without success so I was very pleased with the result.
I tried the Luna Mini with several of my Holy Grail cleansers, including a cream, a foaming wash and a balm. I felt the need to go over my face with a hot cloth after using the balm cleanser so I'm not sure I'd recommend it for that but it did great with the cream and foaming wash.
If I didn't already own a competing product, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Luna Mini at full price. Do I need it in addition to the competitor's product? No - I think they both work equally as well.
BUT when my existing products come to the end of their lives - I will in all likelihood buy another Luna Mini because there are no consumable parts to have to keep replacing and therefore works out much cheaper over the term of its life and I felt it was gentler than the brush system of the competitor.
My only major gripe with this is the lack of designated travel pouch/box - come on Foreo!
I also post my reviews on Boots.com with my username Jokely86, on my blog - http://jokely86.wordpress.com and this review also appears on the Foreo website in a reduced format.
As a Bzz Agent, I am often invited to try out new products. Some of these I get to test for free (which is great) but I was recently invited to test the Foreo Luna Mini. This is a small electronic device designed to cleanse your face and give you the sensation of a mini facial every day. The recommended retail price for this product is £99 - I had to pay £27 for the 'privilege' of testing it, but as a beauty product junkie who would probably baulk at paying full price for this type of product, I felt that it was worth giving it a go.
* The Product *
The Foreo Luna Mini comes in a clear plastic case - the packaging is very simple and reminds me a bit of Apple device packaging. Inside, there is a small curved device made from a soft silicone with a double-sided brush to the top half, an activation button to the bottom and a covered socket at the base for charging. There is also a charger including in the box and some instructions on how to use it. The packaging describes the Foreo Luna Mini as "a revolutionary new skincare concept" - it is "the world's first T-sonic facial cleansing brush" promising "a deep and gentle clean in just one minute". The product comes in a range of colours - I chose a pink one, but you can also buy them in Turquoise, Magenta, Purple and, for those who want something a bit less bright, it also comes in grey. It is rechargeable via a USB cable, 100% waterproof so it can be used in the shower and has a two-year warranty.
* What Does It Do? *
In short, the Foreo Luna Mini is a facial cleansing brush which promises a deeper, more effective clean than you would expect by washing your face with your hands, a flannel or cosmetic wipes. It claims to "diminish the appearance of enlarged pores and blemishes" and "invigorate the skin of a clearer, glowing complexion". These promises are achieved by use of what they call "transdermal sonic pulsations" - basically the brush vibrates and this vibration allows deeper penetration of your cleansing product into your skin. It is supposed to clear your pores of impurities to reduce the threat of blemishes, while simultaneously improving the condition and smoothness of your skin. Put like that, it sounds pretty amazing, doesn't it?
* So, does it live up to its own hype? *
The promise is that you will notice a difference in the appearance of your skin in just three days and, in my experience, it did deliver on that promise. I have been using it for the prescribed one minute in my morning shower for almost three weeks now and my skin genuinely does feel fresher, cleaner and smoother. Prior to using the Luna Mini, I felt that my skin often felt a bit 'grubby' and that my complexion wasn't as clear as I wanted it to be, but it definitely feels much improved after using this on a regular basis. I would assume part of that is due to simply spending a bit more time on my facial cleansing in the morning - I have been making the effort to spend the minute that I am 'supposed' to spend using the device, rather than just rubbing some cleanser over my face and then rinsing it off. I have also noticed that I don't feel the need to exfoliate my skin since I've been using this - usually I would exfoliate a couple of times a week, using a relatively abrasive product, but I haven't felt that I have needed to do this since I started using the Luna Mini.
The actual sensation of using the 'brush' on my skin is very pleasant and doesn't feel abrasive at all. The packaging claims that this product is suitable for all skin types and I think I would probably agree with that - it can be used with most types of facial cleanser apart from those that are silicone-based, clay-based or grainy, so you can use it with a product which suits your own individual skin type. I have used mine with both a creamy cleansing milk and a gel type cleanser. In my opinion it cleans better with the gel-type cleanser than the creamy one - just because it seems to provide me with a deeper clean with that product - but it does work effectively with both types.
* Is it worth the money?*
For me personally, I'd still struggle to justify paying the full price for this product as £99 seems so much to pay in one go for facial skincare. However, if it continues to perform as well as it has done so far, then i think I could easily change my mind about that and be tempted into purchasing another one in the future. After all, if you don't need to buy exfoliators, and can potentially save money on cleansers as the Luna Mini means that you don't need to use as much for an effective clean, you could potentially argue that this product could save you money.
* Final Thoughts *
Cost aside, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Luna Mini as a positive addition to a morning (or evening) beauty regime. My skin does genuinely seem to have benefited from regular use of this product - it looks healthier, has more of a glow and an improved texture. My moisturiser seems to sink more deeply into my skin after cleansing with this brush and I have been able to use less primer / foundation to obtain relatively flawness looking skin when fully made up. I love the fact that I can use it in the shower as it is all about saving time on my morning regime, and the gentle vibration helps to make me feel a bit more invigorated in the mornings. Of course, the fact that it is a small, vibrating device has caused some hiliarity with my husband who asked me 'what the new sex toy on the bathroom shelf' was, but for something that works as well as this does, we can ignore any resemblance to something that would be more appropriate for bedroom use. Overall, I would recommend this product and am giving it the full five star rating
