When it comes to moisturising anywhere other than my face, I am quite lazy. So it's no surprise that my skin can get slightly dry. I always moisturiser after I shower but with moisturisers not being moisturising enough to last more than a few hours, coupled with the fact that I ALWAYS forget to moisturise any other time, I needed something that was meant to last. Therefore I was relieved when Garnier released their 7 day intensive line. Okay, I didn't really think it would keep my skin moisturised for quite that long, but hey, it's a start right?
What's nice is that Garnier have made several options to suit anyone's dry skin needs. Personally being a fan of cocoa butter scents, I of course went for the cocoa butter one. There were two sizes of bottle to choose from, but not knowing whether I would like the product I opted for the cheaper one at £2 from Superdrug. You could most likely pick this product up from any shop that sells body moisturisers, so is easily available when you run out. All of them contain Garnier's secret ingredient for this intensive moisturiser, L-Bifidus. For anyone who is a fan of yogurt brands like Activia etc. Will recognise this word being used in the adverts for such foods. This might seem a little odd but if it works then who cares!
The moisturiser apart from the nice smell, is thick in texture but not so thick that it isn't easily massaged into the skin. I mostly use this on my legs after shaving, as then can get fairly irritated and dry, and I only need a small amount for my skin to be left feeling soft and smooth. Usually after any ordinary moisturiser is used, by night time my skin could probably do with another moisturising. However with this, my skin still feels adequately moisturised the next day.
I can imagine that with using this on a regular basis, even every couple of days, that over time my skin would feel moisturised for even longer. Overall this is a good yet inexpensive body moisturiser to use, and especially for anyone who is forgetful or is just too busy to moisturise every day.
WHAT IS IT?
A moisturising lotion for your body. It is supposed to work in 7 days and if you apply to dry or even very dry skin over that time the skin will be moisturised and back to normal after a week.
Garnier Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion is very easy to apply because it is thin and creamy at the same time. You only need to use a bit and then it will absorb quickly and let you get dressed straight away, it's not greasy at all but if you apply too much then your skin will feel a bit damp for quite a long time. It is not sticky and feels very nice, it is a cold lotion so I make sure the heating is turned up in my bathroom because even though it was nice and cool to apply in the summer it makes me feel a bit chilly at this time of year.
WHAT I THINK
I suffer with dry skin on my legs so was happy when I received lots of samples from Garnier of this lotion because it sounded very good in the write up. It is a good moisturiser but I think it is only suitable if you haven't already got to the stage where your skin is showing signs of being dry. If you apply it to healthy skin it keeps the nourishment level up but does not repair skin that has already been damaged by dry weather or just because you have got dry skin. Even though it is a lotion it is quite rich and feels nice on my skin, my legs felt a lot smoother as soon as I started to use it and when the lotion absorbs into my skin it gives it a silky feeling like I've just applied baby powder.
It smells nice and is a very weak creamy smell that makes me think of baby lotion even though it hasn't got that smell. It is very moisturising but does not give me the same deep feeling of moisturising as body butters or body creams, the best thing about this being a lotion is that it soaks in quick and that helps it to work straightaway, I do not think it would be too rich if you have oily skin to begin with and I think it is suitable to use every day or twice a day if you feel like you need extra moisture in your skin. It is not for facial use, only the body.
I do not think this is a wonder product but it is very good and works how I expected it to. I saw a bit of an improvement in the texture of my skin but the very dry parts I had to use a more powerful moisturiser on.
A 400ml bottle costs about £4.50 and I think that is good value because it works very well and you only need to use a little bit so 400ml will last for a long time even if you are applying it to your full body twice a day.
4 Dooyoo Stars.
I brought this item when the shop I went into had sold out of my regular moisturising cream, and I decided to choose this one as it said my skin would feel softer for upto 7 days.
Garnier have made some bold claims with this moisturiser, on the front of the bottle it clearly states "skin feels intensely hydrated for up to 7 days", however the eagle eyed amongst us might have noticed those two little stars after that bold claim, and if you find the small print on the back of the bottle, you'll read that in fact, to achieve this intensely hydrated skin, you should apply this lotion twice daily for 7 days.
The main moisturising ingredients in this body lotion are actually: mineral oil, glycerin, palm oil and cetearyl alcohol (a non-drying form of alcohol). These work nicely together to hydrate, add oils to and protect the skin, however the shea butter is so low down on the ingredients list that it's unlikely to do much, but as I brought it for the shea butter I was pretty annoyed. Also on the list is benzyl alcohol, this is a nasty drying form of alcohol however there is very little of this within the cream
There is a very slight fragrance, however I didn't like it, id of preferred it to ether have a very nice strong smell of the shea butter or no smell at all.
The lotion is quiet runny and thin but it sinks in quiet quickly and doesn't leave you skin feeling sticky.
I didn't find this any different to any other moisturising cream, and I used it as directed on the bottle for over 7 days twice daily, My skin felt soft and hydrated, but once I stopped using it, it didn't last any longer than 24 hours, so their 7 day claim in my opinion is not true and I think I'll definitely stick to my regular cream, but this is good as a back up.
It's important to start by saying that there a different variations of this product- for different skin types. These are
* Hydrating Lotion with Aloe Vera Extract for Normal Skin
* Soothing Lotion with Honey for Dry, Sensitive Skin
* Replenishing Lotion with Mango Oil for Dry Skin
* Nourishing Lotion with Cocoa Butter for Dry, Rough Skin
* Ultra-Softening Lotion with Shea Butter for Extra-Dry Skin
So depending on what category you fall into, or out of, there's always one that is suitable.
My first thought with Garnier Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion was that it would be expensive compared to similar moisturisers. However....If you follow the link (type Garnier Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion into Google and select the Google product tab you can review places to buy it from 16 places) which I found today (20/02/12) you can see that actually it's not as expensive as you might think (or I thought before I tried it). A 250ml bottle ranges from £1.92 (at OneClickPharmacy-NO P+P FEE EITHER) to around £2.99 (unless of course it's on offer).
This moisturiser is designed for those with dry, sensitive skin and because I have both I am a perfect candidate! I have to admit I absolutely love this moisturiser. It smells beautiful, the texture is light but not greasy and I genuinely felt the difference straight away. It absorbed into the skin really quickly so perfect for quickly putting on and dressing or applying before bed. Honestly creeping through- I don't moisturise daily (especially in winter when it's a race to change into something warm). But, because this really is intensive I found I could go a few days and still have smooth, soft skin.
I'd definitely give this a go!
Garnier Body Intensive 7 days.
I was lucky enough to have been given this bottle of Intensive treatment from a friend for Christmas. I have been using other products and spotted this on my dressing table, so I have decided to put it to the test. I have been using this for the past week, and have noticed great improvements to my skin.
This comes in a minty green bottle, and is a Hydrating Lotion containing L-Bifidus. It comes in a bottle containing 250mls. It has a open cap that you simply lift up asnd squeese the lotion onto your hands, face and neck areas. It is white in colour and quite thick but comes out of the bottle easily. It states that it is for normal skin, although I use it on my hands which seem to be the worse area as they do get dry very quickly especially in this damp weather, if I havnt wore gloves to go outside.
It has a really pleasant smell, reminds me of flowers in the summer time, and rubs into the skin easily, it is absorbed very quickly and i notice an instant difference straight away within a few minutes. It makes my skin seem plumper and nice and smooth although I do think that this cream once rubbed into your skin is not greesy at all.
It contains mosturising Aloe Vera. It rehydrates dehydrated skin in a few minutes and with constant daily use helps maintain smooth skin that does not feel dry anymore. It helps prevent moisture loss from the skins surface. It is inspired by probiotics. L-Bifidus which helps to reinforce the skins own natural barrier, and locks in moisture which inturn keeps the skin smooth and silky.
As it contains Aloe Vera a plant that survives well in dry conditions for months on end, it is rich in vitamins and minerals and Alor Vera is well known for its soothing properties, on dry skin, and thus helps also with flaky dry skin that has become chapped due to bad weather.
I love this product and I am really happy with the instant results it has on my otherwise dry skin, it makes it feel silky and smooth and smells lovely too.
This product is dermatologically tested, and therefore is suitable for sensative skin.
This really makes my skin feel moisturised and thats good for me as anything that helps my skin to maintain softness and youthfulness is good at my age.
The results I have found with this product is long lasting hydration.
Ingredients are :-
aqua, water, glycerin, alchol denat, paraffin, liquidum, mineral oil, cetearyl, alcohol, elaeis guneensis oil, cimethcone, glyceryl stearate, linacool palmitic acid, parfum fragrance, stearic acid.
Use twice daily for great results.
I love this product and will be buying some more once this bottle runs out.
Thanks for reading and rating my reviews.
Intensive 7 days Nourishing Lotion is a body moisturiser that has been created by Garnier. It makes the massive claims of being able to leave your skin feeling hydrated for up 7 days after being using continuously for 4 weeks and it promises to leave your skin feeling intensely hydrated. It has been specifically designed for use on dry, rough skin.
How does it work?
The product contains Cocoa Butter which is one of nature's greatest moisturisers. It nourishes the skin deeply and hydrates it, ensuring that your skin feels soft and smooth. As it contains antioxidants, it also removes skin aging toxins from the body. The inclusion of Glycerin means that the skin can hold onto this moisture.
It also contains L-Bifadus which reinforces the skins natural barriers and allows the skin to retain its new found moisture. The result is a long lasting hydration which leads to lovely soft skin.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be used in the same way as a normal body moisturiser. It is to be applied liberally to clean, dry skin and it can be applied as often as required. The product promises to leave your skin feeling hydrated for 24 hours but when used twice daily for four weeks, the hydration should last for seven days.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a lovely minty green bottle which has a picture of some Cocoa Beans and cream on the front. There is lots of extra information give about the product on the back of the bottle. The bottle has a white flip top lid and as the plastic is quite thin, it is easy to squeeze the product from the packaging.
It will cost you around £2.99 to buy the product and for your money, you will get 250ml of the lotion. It can be bought from large stores such as Boots and Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites.
Aroma and Consistency
The product has a lovely fresh scent with a light but evident touch of Cocoa Butter. When dispensing the product, you can see it has a lovely pure white colour and the texture looks quite light. On rubbing the product into the skin, I realised that it was actually quite rich and thick. It has got the thickness of a butter but it is certainly richer than many lotions that I've used before.
This lotion feels hydrating from the minute that you massage it into the skin. It spreads easily and it's absorbed quickly without much massaging. It leaves a sheen on the skin that makes the skin look healthy, not greasy and it doesn't feel greasy or uncomfortable on the skin. It leaves me feel fresh and clean so it isn't heavy at all, despite its consistency.
From the first application, it does leave the skin feeling and looking hydrated. It banishes signs of dull, flaky skin straight away. The product does make the skin feel soft but it isn't the baby softness that I like but it does feel moisturised. My skin becomes softer still with continued use and although I haven't managed to get to the four weeks continual use because I forget to use it every day, my skin still feels quite moisturised on the days that I don't use it.
All in all, this is a good moisturiser which hydrates well and leaves the skin in a good condition quickly. It is rich on the skin but still leaves it looking and feeling fresh and clean. Garnier Intensive 7 days certainly ticks all the boxes.
I bought this product on special offer when it first came out, so it was fairly inexpensive. I have used face creams by this brand before which I really liked, so this was the reason I bought this product. I have quite dry sensitive skin and have tried many products. This one sounded really promising, but overall I am quite disappointed. It seemed quite thin for a product aimed at dry skin and seemed to sink in straight away. Personally, I prefer products that stay on you skin a little while. The smell is really pleasant but not particularly strong.
I have used a similar product by Avon which is far superior. I would not recommend this product for anyone suffering with really dry skin. It provided only temporary relief, but did not really help solve the problem. On the positive side, it did not aggrevate my skin at all which many products do.
I have dry skin on my legs and have searched shops for good lotions for years without much success. Any products I did try I never bought more than once so never had any loyalty to any one brand or type of moisturizer.
A few months ago I bought this and haven't even looked at another moisturizer since!
It's rich and creamy and smells amazing! My husband even likes the smell of it and he doesn't like heavy smelling creams- this one is lovely light and fruity. My skin never feels greasy as the cream soaks in to my skin very quickly allowing me to quickly dress after applying.
I would recommend this product to anyone- it's not expensive and lasts for a long time- spreads on easily and keeps my skin soft and hydrated for a long time! It's available in most shops so it's easy to get hold of when you need it.
I will be sticking with this product in the future and advise anyone to try it even for a few weeks- you'll definitely notice a difference in your skin! My legs have never looked or felt better!
Does anyone remember the old body lotion Garnier did, the one in the orange bottle? I was so sad when they decided to stop producing it as much - you can barely get hold of it anymore. However this is an excellent substitute and I now use it religiously every day. Unlike the photo I have the mango oil version for dry skin, I sometimes do find the smell a little sickly in the morning as it is rather sweet but the smell fades to a deliciously soft smell over the day.
Although I did not notice a big difference in the appearance of my skin I used moisturiser on a daily basis anyway. What I can say is that this moisturiser has been able to keep the appearance of my skin as I like it. It does not become oily and is absorbed quickly into the skin when I apply it after a shower. I find that you do not need to apply loads, a small amount is quite sufficient as it is more liquid than cream - I prefer my moisturiser more runny as I find it easier to apply.
I would now only switch to a different product if they brought back the old body cacoon or stopped manufacturing this!
I have normal skin that does not tend to get too dry anyway, but with winter approaching I figured it would be best to find myself a body lotion just in case and I'm glad that I did. It smells lovely and the smell lingers on your skin for quite a while, but not too overpowering, so you can go around smelling awesome all day. I found that it absorbs quickly and easily meaning I didn't have to wait around for it to dry before I could get ready. Best of all it made my skin feel lovely, not at all sticky, just soft and smooth and after using it for a week I found that my skin had started to look healthier with a nice glow about it. I would definitely recommend this body lotion and I've already told quite a few of my friends to go and try it.
Unluckily for me, I am cursed with "Winter skin", all year round...(booo:(!!). My skin is sensitive dry and gets horribly flaky and irritating at times.Not...a....pretty....sight! So naturally, I have tons of lotions and potions scattered around my bathroom all claiming to soothe dry skin and leave your skin feeling like a baby's bottom. All of course, to no avail!! The lotion I usually use is Jojoba Oil (Not quite as exotic as the name suggests!!). It works, but the second I stop applying it,Im left back at square one screaming for relief. So, I needed something new. Something original. Something hydrating.......
**Garnier Intensive 7 Day Nourishing Lotion**
I was drawn to this product originally when I spotted the tv advert claiming (as they all do) to give you softer, more supple skin in days. "Noticeably improved skin within 48 hours" , they promised. Needing a quick fix, I picked one up the next day at the shops. The sheer amount of choice was my first pickle. Moisturising Aloe Vera for normal skin, Softening Cocoa butter for dry, rough skin and Luxourious Cocoa for sensitive skin.
I think it was the word 'luxourious' that got me. Yep, I'm always easily swayed by fancy words and even fancier packaging. I picked up the 400ml as opposed to the 250ml as I am not a believer in the saying "less is more". Less is most definitely not more!! At Euro6.24 for the 400ml, it didn't neccessarily come cheap, so I hoped I'd see results.
The ingredients sounded promising. Shea Butter and LBifidus(Isn't that used in yoghurt??). Who doesn't need those on a daily basis?
I took a long warm shower, excited by the prospects of soft and supple skin! The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle was the smell.Mmmmmmm!! It smelt good enough to eat....and with yoghurt ingredients in it, how harmful could it be?? I immediately starting layering it on and was quite amazed by the texture. Unlike many other moisturisers and lotions, it wasn't clammy or greasy and immediately absorbed into my skin. I spread the cream on everywhere rather than just my legs and arms as I get the dreaded dry skin all over. There was no mess!! The luxourious creamy feeling was exactly as promised. So far so good.....
The next morning I could already see an improvement. Not a massive improvement, but it was better nonetheless. The flaky, unsightly skin was no longer on my legs, although they were still quite dry. I repeated applying the cream for another few days and boy did I notice a difference. My skin no longer felt or looked dry & dehydrated. I felt better, my skin looked and felt softer and overall I was a different person!! After prolonged use, I found that my skin gets dry again if I don't reapply at least twice a week so it is no miracle worker. However, I am very happy with the product and still purchase it regularly. It was quite good value and out of ten, I would happily give it a 9.
I have very dry skin and have used a variety of skin creams to help rehydrate my skin through the years, also I am guilty of not using skin cream/lotion when I should, I just go along with the flakiness and dry skin and don't worry! However, being mother to two adult daughters it's not that easy to go by my own (not very good) beauty treatments.
Luckily for me they are both generous girls and like to buy their mother creams and lotions galore, and one of the creams I was bought is "New" Garnier Body Intensive 7 days Ultra-Softening Lotion (with L-bifidus), slightly long name but hey, I'm happy to give it a try.
It's packaged very nicely, a sleek green plastic bottle with a tempting picture of "Nourishing Shea Butter", which, to me, looks just like a cream egg or two, which can't be a bad thing! Now, I don't like to smell like food when I use a moisturiser, so if I hadn't been bought this I wouldn't have tried it, but the smell is lovely and not too strong. I used the Dry to Extra-dry, which makes the claim that "skin feels intensely hydrated for up to 7 days", meaning that if you use this cream your skin will still feel good seven days after your last application.
Hmm, that's a big claim to make, but I have to say that this body cream is really, really nice, but still feeling "intensely hydrated" after seven days? I don't want to rubbish their claims but I didn't find this effect, but that could be because my use of this was a bit erratic, I would use it when I remembered to.
That said, it's a luxurious "Ultra -Softening Lotion" which smells good, it's non greasy and it softens and moisturises as well as any other brand. Mine came in a 250ml bottle, and is available virtually everywhere, mine was purchased from a supermarket. It was less than £5.00 and a little goes a long way. It's suitable for sensitive, dry to very dry skin and is dermatologically tested. If you have the inclination (and the time!)you could read all the information on the back of the bottle and decide whether to try it for yourself, but I will happily continue using it until it runs out. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but my daughters may think differently!
It is a nice moisturiser, it rubs in easily and the cocoa butter flavour smells amazing! I used it as an alternative to aftersun whilst I was in Spain and I think it definitely helped my skin after sun bathing - I didn't peel! Although it is a good moisturiser and a lot better than many of the other products on the market, I think the '7 day' claim is very exagerrated and would apply it like any other moisturiser.
I love this moisturing lotion!!!!!! it smells delicious!!! its easy to apply its intensive and moisturing enough for the skin without having to constanly re-apply it constanly throughout the day! its provides enough moisturisation to fight off skin complaints such as ezcema and dry skin patches..... yet easily absored making it easy to wear clothes straight after applying it! it really does keep your skin soft ,soothed and moistured for up to 7 days!! Makes skin feel gorgeous!!!!
The bottle is easy to grip and open and has an eye catching look with its bright funky colour and its curvy body like shape the lotion also comes in a varitey of scents and types to suit your skin type so everyone benifits from this lotion as there will defintly be one out there for you to try! if not prehaps mix two and create your own unique scent and ideal lotion!!!
What caught my eye about this product was the advert on TV how easy and nice it was to come across a lotion that isn't too light and lives up to its promise! Garnier have defintly kept their word with this product! cheap in price and lasts ages the amout you get its defintly value for money!
The skin friendly ingredients such as L-bifidus and probiotics is attractive as i have yet to come across another lotion with the same ingredient!!!!!! it really does give your skin a total treat!!!!
This lotion is fast absorbing, non greasy and has a norishing texture a great beauty buy and a great product for the skin! go-on treat yourself and get gorgeous skin today!!!!
After seeing this on an introductory deal and seeing so many people rave about it online I decided to try it in place of my usual moisteriser (I usually use Bliss)
It is quite a nice moisteriser, sinks into skin reasonably quickly for something that is supposed to be for very dry skin, has an light inoffensive sent that dissapears after a while, for the price I wouldn't complain that it lacks luxury as I didn't really expect that much from it, However I don't really see the difference between this and any other highstreet moisteriser aimed at dry skin. It didn't leave my skin feeling any softer or more nourished then any other cream I'd used before. The packaging is simple but enought but not exactly bathroom shelf worthy. It's all just ok...?
In all fairness it's a good price and lower then what I'd expect from Garnier as they seem to be creeping up alot of their other products into a high end price range. But is it worth the fuss? My bottle has been left half full on a shelf for a fair while now and although I'll happily use it when I run out of my usual body moisteriser it's not something I'm choosing to reach for for the time being.
