This review is for Garnier Intensive 7 Days Soothing Gel Cream, with L-Bifidus and Peach for dry and sensitive skin.
I had seen the tv advertisement for this moisturiser, which claims that it provides 7 days worth of that moisturised skin feeling. And I was sceptical - I suffer from extremely dry skin on my arms, made worse in winter by the central heating, and in summer by the temperature (not that we have to worry about that much here hehe!). So I am always on the look out for creams which help.
I bought this from Tescos on offer, for around £2. Which I was quite surprised, as given the claims I expected it to be on the higher end of the price range. And in my opinion this price is very reasonable, and would even pay full price £3 for it. For this you get 250ml, which is a good amount.
This is a soothing gel cream, which means it looks like a white cream but when you apply it turns clear. It claims to absorb instantly, which although not instant, it does certainly absorb faster than other lotions and creams. Which means that you can whack it on in the morning before getting dressed and not have to worry about it sinking in. It has a lovely smell, peachy but its not overwhelming and just leaves a nice hint of scent on the skin (although doesn't last much longer than a couple of hours). The cream is not too thick, and spreads well on the skin so nice and easy application. However it doesn't have the luxuriousness that perhaps thicker lotions or body butters have, and this may put some people off. Also, it does feel a bit tacky as its drying which again may be offputting. But at least its not greasy! Also, it didn't irritate my sensitive skin at all which is great.
So the most important bit, is the moisturising. This claims that, if you use it every day for a week, your skin will feel moisturised for 7 days. For once, I actually feel that this product is better than the claim. My skincare routine is not that stringent, and I do not moisturise every day (which is why I look for longer lasting products). However I felt the effects of this from first use - My skin felt soft and moisturised for about 3 days before I felt I needed to moisturise again. This is the first product where the effects have ever lasted so long, and it is this that really impressed me. However, the only negative I have about this is that I feel that to some extent it leaves a layer on the skin, almost hiding the dryness (in the same way as hair conditioners do) as it almost felt too smooth. To be honest though, this didn't bother me as my skin felt better than it does when its dry!
I have since tried another of the 7 day intensive products (lotion with cocoa), without as much success, and will review elsewhere. So I genuinely feel that it is this specific product which works for me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product again, and may try the other gel-creams to see if they work as well.
