Advantages: Effective, lovely scent, value for money

Disadvantages: Takes ages to sink in

After reading alyson29's review of this lotion, I decided to try it myself and decided to take up the '7 Day Challenge'. I sent off for my free sample of lotion and received it in the post shortly afterwards.

***Using the lotion***
I received seven 6ml sachets in the pack, one for every day of the week. Garnier claim that using the lotion will lead to soft, smooth, non-greasy skin. I have dry skin on my body and hoped that the lotion would moisturise effectively.

I use body lotion in the morning after my shower, as I prefer a thicker body butter at night. Therefore I used this lotion in the morning. I tore open one sachet and applied the lotion firstly to my driest skin, on my legs, and then elsewhere on my body. One sachet was enough to cover all of my skin.

The lotion had a lovely subtle scent of shea butter. It was quite runny and seemed of high quality. Unfortunately it seemed to take ages to sink in. I had to wait quite a while before getting dressed as my skin still felt a bit sticky.

On the plus side, the moisturiser was very effective at keeping my skin soft and in good condition. The moisturising effect lasted all day.

***Skin Reader***
The sample pack came with a skin reader so you can test how effective the lotion is at moisturising your skin. There are two black circles, and you are meant to use one before using any lotion and the other two hours after your last sachet. The readers should be pressed to your skin for three seconds and they record the number of dry skin cells, which turn white. The idea is that the second reader should record far fewer dry skin cells, but in fact both readers looked pretty much the same - I moisturise my skin regularly anyway and I'm sure any decent body lotion would moisturise in much the same way.

***Price and Availability***
This lotion is available at stores such as Boots and Superdrug, at a very reasonable price of £1.99 for a 250ml bottle and £3.99 for a 400ml bottle. It is a good basic body lotion and seems very good value for money.

***Conclusion***
This is a good quality, reasonably priced body lotion which does a good job of keeping skin moisturised. It has a lovely scent which is, however, subtle enough not to overpower any perfume. My only criticism is that it takes ages to sink into the skin: this would be fine for someone wanting to apply it in the evening and take their time, but not for someone in a hurry in the morning. I'm not sure if I would buy it myself for this reason.

Summary: A value for money, pleasant body lotion that takes a little while to sink in
