Garnier Intensive 7 Days Ultra Softening Lotion
Advantages: Gorgeous fragrance, lightweight lotion
Disadvantages: A slightly thin consistency
This time of year for my skin can be a real killer. As I do spend a lot of time outside with the horses my skin can easily become dry and quite sensitive so I tend to spend all the winter months using products to help keep my skin as moisturised and nourished as possible which if course those with dry skin will know it isn't easy. As I shower twice a day this of course doesn't help my skin but I do try to use products aimed specifically for people with dry skin.
Because of showering a lot it does mean that I need a body lotion that is decent enough to tackle dry skin and although I have used various brands the one I am using at the moment seems to be doing the job well and it is Garnier Body Intensive 7 Day Repairing Lotion with Shea Butter. I am quite a fan of Garnier's skin care ranges as I find that they are excellent value for money and they do generally what they promise.
== The Lotion ==
The Garnier Body Intensive 7 Day Repairing Lotion with Shea Butter has been specifically formulated for those with extra dry skin needing a little help with keep their skin moisturised. Their main ingredient Shea Butter is of course well known for its moisturising properties as it is enriched with essential nutrients ideal for keeping the skin nourished. Garnier advise that within 7 days your skin will be smooth and soft with a hydration feeling that can last up to 7 days (after two applications per day during 4 weeks - according to their website).
== Packaging ==
Most Garnier body lotions tend to be in the same shaped bottles and the Body Intensive lotion is no different. It comes in a mint coloured bottle which is slightly metallic looking with a white flip top style cap. It features on the front the Garnier logo together with the product name as well as an image of a golden coloured droplet which I'm guessing is to represent the Shea Butter! On the back of the bottle there is product information, how to use as well as the ingredients list and contact information for Garnier.

The lotion itself is white in colour and has a lovely soft, silky feel to it although for me it is a little thin on the consistency side of things as I did find it came out of the bottle a little too quickly and ended up with too much lotion! The fragrance of this lotion is absolutely love and it is nice for a lotion designed for dry skin has a lovely fragrance as you tend to get lotions with a minimal scent or not at all. This fragrance is definitely noticeable and quite floral but with a creamy almost nutty hue to it which to me is lovely.
I have been using this lotion at least once if not twice a day for a few weeks now generally after a shower as I find that it is a lightweight lotion and doesn't clog up the pores. For me the slight downside is the consistency as I find that if I am too heavy handed I just end up with too much out of the bottle. However, despite this the lotion glides onto the skin easily and is rubbed in without any problems but because it is lightweight and not greasy in the slightest it is quickly absorbed.
I do find though that although it isn't greasy so doesn't leave that film over the skin it can leave behind a residue on the skin for quite sometime after rubbing it in and although it isn't sticky or greasy you can definitely tell that there is something left behind on your skin. It does however eventually disappear about about half an hour and although it doesn't bother me it may bother other people especially after you apply after a shower and get dressed as I know I did wonder how long I should wait for it to absorb to get changed.
As said above I have been using this for a few weeks now and my skin definitely looks a lot better especially on my legs where they can get really dry which isn't helped by shaving. My skin certainly looks a lot healthier and it is nice that the fragrance of the lotion does stay put on the skin quite subtly for a good few hours after being applied which for me is quite nice as it isn't overpowering to impose on a perfume. My skin has definitely improved since using it and I am incredibly pleased with the results.
== Overall ==
A decent lotion which does improve the skin over a short period of time. As for the 7 day test my skin definitely does feel hydrated and moisturised which is ideal for someone like me with dry skin. However, I don't think this would happen for everyone but it definitely makes noticeable improvements to the skin. I really like this body lotion and will happily continue to buy it. It has a lovely lightweight feel to it teamed with a lovely fragrance. A definite recommendation but due to the slightly thin consistency and the smooth residue it can leave behind I can only give it 4 stars.
