This intensive night treatment gel by Garnier claims to fight spots and prevent them, as well as help to fade the marks left from blemish marks. It contains salyicilic acid and zinc, known to be useful for spot fighting properties. What makes this product different is that it's a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) exfoliating gel designed to be used at night after cleansing.
I picked this up from Savers a few months ago in the hope that it would help to fade the red marks I've desperately benn trying to get rid of. The product is a clear gel with a slight cucumber scent, and unlike most spot treatment gels, this one is meant for use all over the face. This might seem a little odd if you don't get spots all over your face, but it also helps to smooth the skin in other areas, and minimise pores. Plus it isn't drying so is fine to use on drier parts of the skin. Although it feels a little sticky at first, it soon dries so you can go to bed without worrying that it will transfer onto your pillows etc.
I haven't seen too much of a benefit from this to warrant a 5 star rating, but it isn't a bad product either. This does help to dry up spots and diminish them quicker. However I wouldn't say that it prevents them, I still get just as many. It has helped to smooth the texture of my skin slightly, although it hasn't done much for blackheads. Then again, it doesn't really claim to so I can't fault it for that.
Does it help to fade marks? I'm a bit on the fence about this bit. Some days I do think that they appear to have faded and my skin looks more even, but then on other days they don't seem to look and different at all. Also, apparently the amount of salycilic acid present in the product isn't enough to actually exfoliate the skin like a BHA should. Therefore in theory shouldn't be very effective in helping to renew the surface cells of the skin. Because the product was so inexpensive at 2.99, I may purchase it again depending how well I feel my current tube has worked, once I've used it all. So far it's an okay product and is worth a try considering the price.
