A great night cream for sensitive skin

Just after Christmas I found myself running out of my night cream. I'd been using one from the Sanctuary range but with finances being a bit stretched I was on the lookout for something cheaper. Browsing the aisles of my local Family Bargains store I spotted Garnier skin sensitive night cream for only £2.49. Ordinarily this retails at around the £5 mark so I bagged myself a bit of a bargain! Now I don't have particularly sensitive skin but I don't like heavy creams or those that are heavily fragranced as they can leave my skin feeling tight, a little itchy and hot, so the fact that this cream is suited to sensitive skin is a bonus. I haven't really used many products in the Garnier range but given that they are a reputable company I was expecting this cream to be good.

The cream comes packaged in a white and turquoise coloured box, which contains a 50ml tube of the product. Looking further at the product description the cream contains soothing plant extracts and vitamin E. It claims to act immediately to soothe the skin without making it feel tight. As I stated above the cream has been formulated to be suitable for those with sensitive skin and the product has been tested under dermatological control. There are further claims on the packaging that this cream not only softens and hydrates the skin but also reinforces the skin's resistance to external aggressors. I'm not too clear what 'external aggressors' are but I presume they mean pollutants and free radicals that can damage/age the skin.

The cream itself comes in a tube form, which I actually prefer, as I think this is more hygienic than continuously dipping fingers into a pot and also exposing the rest of the cream to air. Squeezing the tube releases a white coloured cream which has what I would describe as a 'medium' consistency - not too runny but nor too thick. This cream sits on my bedside table and I have used it every night for the last 3 months and I have barely made a dent in the tube!

I apply this to my skin after it has been cleansed. I usually use a blob the size of a 1p piece and massage this over my face and then use an equal amount on my neck. I find that this cream blends into my skin effortlessly. It feels rich, as a night cream should, but not so much so that my skin feels weighed down. The cream also has a pleasant scent - I'm not one for heavily scented creams, and I was pleased to note that this cream has a smell that I can only describe as light and sweet. Once massaged in my skin feels super soft, plump and deeply hydrated and this feeling is retained until the morning. I am also pleased to report that there is no feeling of tightness nor any tingliness or itchiness that I have experienced with other night creams.

Overall I have to say that I am quite impressed with this cream. It leaves my skin feeling great - hydrated and moisturised without any tightness or itchiness and it comes with a high recommendation from me.
