Disadvantages: doesn't absorb easily
I don't know about you but every time I open a magazine I see so many adverts for 'younger skin' and lots of hype about how important it is to protect your skin from it's natural ageing process. I always used to dismiss these and think they weren't relevant to me but now that I am in my mid twenties and since having my daughter I have noticed that my skin isn't as it used to be. I am becoming aware of it being more dry and the odd line or two appearing and so now I have found myself paying more attention to these adverts and wondering whether perhaps now is the time to start doing something about looking after my skin.
If you go to the skin care aisle of Boots or a similar shop you will be overwhelmed by the amount of choice that there is with toners and moisturisers and anti ageing products galore! I wasn't sure where to start so I decided that the best product to invest in was a moisturiser which contained vitamin E. I decided on this because I know that Vitamin E helps to keep your skin nourished and therefore younger looking.
I opted for Garnier Skin Naturals mainly because of the price as it was more affordable than others. I couldn't believe that some tiny pots were charging over £40 when as far as I could see the ingredients weren't all that different.
This cream comes in a tube which has a cap that unscrews. It is designed so it stands on the cap which means that it's easy to get the contents out and you should be able to use all of it even when you begin to get low. It is a simple tube which I like and I think this kind of product should be. It's pale green which I guess reflects it's 'naturalness' and has a picture of a leaf on it again showing how natural it is. The writing is in siler and black. The word 'fresh' is typed right in the middle which I think is quite a sensational word, suggetsing that both the product and your skin is fresh. It claims to be a 24hour hydrating day cream that quenches and protects the skin.
It is meant to be used as part of your every day skin care routine and is for people with 'normal' combination skin. It is made from pure fruit waters and vitamin E. It is supposed to keep your skin quenched as well as protect it from UV rays as it has a UV filter in the product too which is very important in terms of the ageing process and the effect the sun has on our skin. It is supposed to make your skin glow with health.
When using this product I find it very easy to use- the lid is very easy to unscrew and the cream is easy to squeeze out. The nozzle which it comes out of is very small so you don't end up getting too much all over your hands when you squeeze, instead it's a very small amount which I much prefer as I feel as though I'm only using the amount I want and not the amount I've ended up squirting everywhere by mistake!
I apply it to the skin on my face daily (When I remember anyway!) and only use a pea-sized amount as this seems to be plentiful. I tend to concentrate mainly on my forehead and around the eye area. The moisturiser rubs in quite easily without there being any excess cream left on my face.
I apply my make up over the top of it as normal and think it actually gives quite a good base for it.
One thing that I have noticed though is that the cream tends to sit on top of the skin for a while. If I rub my finger quite hard across my forehead up to forty minutes after applying this then it tends to rub away onto my finger and I feel like I need to havea good exfoliate to get rid of it! I have tried to reduce this by not using as much but then it still happens so I just assume it takes quite a while to really soak into the skin.
In terms of the effect it's had on my skin I cannot say whether it has stopped the ageing process or at least helped fight against it, but it has made my skin seem fresher like it says it will. It doesn't glow as such but it does feel smoother.
I think that this day cream is very good. I don't know exactly how effective it is but I can't see what harm it can do to engage in a skin care routine which involves rubbing vitamin E into the skin every day. I like the fact it has UV filters in it too so that it seems to do more than one job at once- protects and quenches.
The bottle I like, the cream is easy to apply and I like how it is very simple and doesn't involve having to use about 3 other kinds of treatments too.
You can buy this from shops such as Boots and also in some supermarkets. I bought it for £5 which I think is very good value for money especially considering just how much competition there is out there.
Summary: It's pretty good!
