=== Brand ===
Good Things is a fairly new natural skin and body care brand developed by the beauty writer Alice Hart-Davis. The main feature of this brand is that it does not include parabens and it is made using natural ingredients, especially extracts of various super fruits which are naturally good for the skin. I tried a moisturiser from this brand a while ago just by chance and ended up loving it, so I was keen to test out some more. The whole range is currently on half price in Sainsbury's so I took the opportunity to stock up on loads of their different products.
=== Reason for Purchase ===
Luckily for me I usually have clear skin, but my skin is also quite sensitive and can occasionally react badly to new products, especially if they are very rich or greasy. Annoyingly a somewhat greasy facial suncream that I had been using while I was away working at summer camp had clogged up my pores a bit and reacted badly with me, causing a slight breakout on my chin. Normally I would just leave it and wait for it to go away, but when I saw the Spot That Spot clearing gel I thought it was worth a go.
=== Packaging ===
The gel comes in a fairly small 15 ml tube which you buy housed in a cardboard box which is twice the size of it. This is a bit misleading, although it does clearly say 15 ml and I know what 15 ml looks like as I buy enough eye creams in that size, so I did know what to expect. I think they have maybe just done this because all the writing and info would not fit on the box if it was smaller. The tube itself is white with typical swirly writing and states the ingredients. It has a cap to screw off, then a very thin nozzle making it easy to squeeze out a tiny bit.
=== Use of the gel ===
The packaging tells us to "Wash the affected area, then dab on a little Stop That Spot! clearing gel. After that, leave well alone. Do not apply to irritated, broken or damaged skin." They say it is a "brilliant anti-bacterial gel which contains active extracts of willow bark, liquorice, papaya and acai to help tackle unwanted breakouts."
I squeeze a tiny bit of the clear gel onto a finger to apply it. It is a fairly liquid gel, not too thick or solid, but it is not so watery that it runs all over the place, and it is easy to work with it. The gel has a slightly strange smell which I can't say I love. It is not awful, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. It smells somewhat fruity and sweet of something like raspberries, but there is another weird tinge to it and I also think it smells slightly medicinal.
It does not sting or tingle in any way when applied to the skin. It stays where you put it and doesn't run. It dries within about a minute at the most, and then I just put moisturiser on my whole face as normal, taking no special notice of it.
=== Results ===
It is hard to say how effective this gel is really. The spots I got from the greasy sun cream have gone, but I can't really tell whether they would have just gone naturally by themselves, or whether it was done to the gel. They definitely did not disappear over night when using this gel, and it took a couple of days. However, I also put this gel on a bit of skin where I thought it looked like I might be about to get a spot, and the next day the skin looked completely normal with no sign of anything, so I was pleased by that.
I would say it does seem to work, but it's not an immediate solution to clear existing spots. It is worth a try if you do have trouble with breakouts. It is gentle and natural, so it's not going to do any harm and might work well for you.
=== Price and Availability ===
This gel costs £4.99 for 15 ml at full price. It is currently on half price offer at Sainsburys where it can be bought for £2.49. Boots also have it on offer with one third off, costing £3.33. It is now also available at Superdrug as well, but I have not seen whether it is on offer there.
I have tried EVERYTHING for my spots but this is the most effective product I have ever ever used so I have now gone and bought all of their anti spot treatments. I love the fact that all the products are not too expensive and smell good too!
