Recently I ordered a few new products for my face to try, all from Green People. I've never been someone who really uses toner so I'll admit I don't have much to compare it to. However, I did try this product for over a week.
Green People toner comes in a 50ml bottle and costs £9.95. It's also available in a 10ml travel size so you can try it out before you splash out on the bigger bottle. It is supposed to be ideal for all skin types, not that I ever really understood how one product could be 'ideal' for all. The product is certified organic and has apparently won a Natural Health Magazine beauty award, so I thought, it must be good right?
Wrong. This toner does seem to make my skin feel a little softer in places but overall it made it feel incredibly tight. Now I know toners do tend to do this but I really felt it was a bit much. I also found that it made the area around my nose - which is quite sensitive - very itchy. In fact my whole face just felt horrible until I put moisturiser on after the toner and then it still felt itchy for a bit. I did however feel that the moisturiser glided on easier and was possibly easier absorbed by my skin.
As for the results, this toner is supposed to be 'hydrating' and said to have 'amazing anti-ageing benefits. Reducing wrinkles by over 7%'. As I only used it for about a week and a half I wouldn't expect to have finer lines, but in that time it didn't make a difference. I also didn't find it hydrating, but it wasn't really drying either. I would say though that it's definitely not suitable for people with very dry skin. Since using this product my skin has taken a turn for the worse. My pores are bigger if anything and I had more spots than usual whilst using this.
I'm not saying you shouldn't try this product. It might work well for your skin and there is a trial size. There are a lot of good reviews on the Green People website. But that's just it - they don't seem to feature bad reviews. I also feel that people tend to get better results by using two or three products together as recommended by the website. For example this toner is said to work well with the Green People Anti Ageing facial oil. I'm guessing that I might have liked it more had I combined it with that, but I also would have been spending a lot more!
Having become quite a fan of Green People during the past few months, I'm now unsure whether to try anything else as this isn't the only products that's disappointed. However, if you're not using Organic products already I highly recommend that you try some as I have found that they're less irritating to the skin. Their shampoos and conditioners are especially good. But I wouldn't recommend this toner.
Green People Gentle Tone is disappointing - and it really pains me to have to say that because I love Green People products, as anyone who has seen my reviewing history will know!
I initially purchased this product because after removing my make-up with Green People Gentle Cleanse, I like to finish with a swipe of toner. Up until this point I had been using toner by Simple but I wanted to see if Green People had a toner I could use instead....they don't. It really surprised me that they don't make a liquid toner as I'm sure a lot of people use toner as part of their daily routine.
Green People Gentle Tone is a clear gel. It comes in a 50ml pump action bottle for around £8, and unfortunately I got a little over excited and added two to my basket by mistake! So now I've wound up with two lots of this stuff, which I don't want to use nor can I recommend it to anyone else, it truly is a disappointment.
I'm not really sure how Green People expect you to incorporate this into your daily cleansing routine. Personally I like my toner to leave my skin with tighter pores, locked in moisture and a refreshed feeling. I'll generally follow it with moisturiser - that's the mantra after all - 'cleanse, tone, moisturise'. But even applying this product sparingly, in a patting motion, as the product instructions state, leaves me feeling like I have one of those 'peel-off' masks on my skin. It's not a pleasant feeling and I certainly couldn't contemplate putting any more products on my skin after, as it just feels overloaded. I looked at the Green People website just to check I was doing it right, and to see if anyone else had the same issues. Maybe it is just me because the other reviewers seem to be perfectly happy with the product and claim that it makes a perfect base for putting on make-up and moisturiser. The¬¬re is no way I would want to put make-up on after this, but I guess everyone's skin is different. The website did suggest combining the toning gel with your usual moisturiser, or face serum before applying it. I tried this, and yes it does help, but I still feel as though my skin has a film on it, and it's not as comfortable as when I apply moisturiser alone.
I can't really review whether this product delivers the long term benefits it is supposed to because I haven't been able to get past the way it feels on my skin. It contains the active ingredients Caesalpinia spinosa and Enteromorpha compressa, which are meant to reduce wrinkles (by more than 7%) and firm up skin (doubling collagen production). It also contains chamomile, rose geranium and marshmallow, so it does indeed smell lovely and there is no doubt it is gentle. It didn't give me any skin reactions.
I would say that it delivers value for money, because a £8, 50ml bottle will last months of daily use if used sparingly like Green People recommend. The ingredients are also undoubtedly high quality and well researched. Shame about the overall gel formula.
Unfortunately I've had to go back to using Simple tone, but this is after all my personal experience, I wouldn't want to slam the product because according to reviewers on Green Peoples' site it isn't bad. The previous two reviews on Dooyoo are also positive, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else on Dooyoo has used Green People Gentle Tone, and what their experiences have been.

This has to be one of my favourite ever Green People products and I can't recommend it highly enough, I absolutely love it!
Green People are the makers of organic natural skin care and make up and this is one of a range of their face products.
I bought this in the sample size which is 10ml for £3.50 to test the product out, it is much more expensive to do this but better than wasting something full size if I don't like it. The sample size comes in a small tube but I found these a bit fiddly to get all the product out.
I loved it immediately and bought the larger 50ml size for £8.75. I got it from the Green People website. This comes in a gorgeous little plastic type bottle standing 4.5" high and 1 1/4" wide. Again in the usual white and pale blue branding and all the bottles look good together. This product has a lid which you need to take off and then it has a press pump action to get the product out and it doesn't over dispense not is the dispenser bulky.
The product itself is a gel consistency and not like you would expect a typical toner to be ie it won't remove grease and is not a harsh astringent. I have skin that is a bit greasy but I still love this product and use it daily for the sheer moisturising properties and the way it makes my skin feel. I use a facial wash then apply this while the skin is still not totally dry and it sinks in well and leaves the skin feeling lovely and soft. I do still use some moisturiser on top in the winter and I have even used a little on the backs of my hands. In the summer I just used the facial wash and the toner mainly although topped off with the spf cream if going outside.
The fragrance is lovely, not overpowering at all and not too strong even for natural products. It is camomile, marshmallow and rose geranium.
The product supposedly has proven anti wrinkle properties and can double the skin's natural collagen but regardless of that it gives great results and is a lovely product to use.
Who is Green People?
Green People is a beauty brand of mid priced products aimed at people interested in using green beauty products or those with skin allergies. Green People does not use chemicals such as parabens, SLS or artifical fragrances in its products. It is suitable for people with skin problems such as eczema and sensitive skin and it is an ethical company, not testing on animals and donating to charities.
What is the product for?
This is a toner, designed to be used after cleansing
What does it look like?
It comes in a cylinder shaped plastic bottle (or in a small toothpaste type tube if you purchase the travel size). It contains many plant extracts and is nearly 100% organic.
How much does it cost?
It's priced at £8.75 for 50ml on the Green People website. You'll also need to pay P&P if your order is under £100
How do I use it?
After cleansing you squeeze a small amount of the gel onto your fingers and apply like a moisturiser. It's designed to be a toner/moisturising product so is not the typical liquid toner made by other companies. It contains no alcohol so does not give the stripping effect like other toners do (but conversely does not leave skin feeling as clean)
What are the results?
It takes a while to sink into the skin and has a gel like slightly sticky texture with a faint flowery scent but leaves the skin moisturised. Recommended for all skin types but maybe more suited to normal/dry skin
