Expensive yes, does it work, yes. And it smells great too.

With sensitive skin the last thing you want to do is put something on it that's going to make it erupt and then spend the rest of the week trying to calm it down and cool it down so forgive me for being nervous with any new product but I have to say when a friend bought me this for Christmas and I smiled sweetly and pushed it to the back on the shelf in the bathroom only to find myself unable to get my normal product a month later and reaching for this.
I spot tested an area first and was relieved that I didn't break out in my normal itchy scratchy state when using some inferior products, it was thick enough to not get lost on my skin and I didn't get that pulling feeling after using it.
Blessed or cursed with both oily and dry skin this cleanser didn't seem to mind my skin type and did the job of clearing away the debris of the day. I know you are supposed to use it twice a day but I'm basically lazy and with this cleanser I can get away with it. I would give it a thumbs up.

      Disadvantages

Not the best for oily skin but not the worst, and generally wonderful!!

I adore this cleansing milk by Guerlain...despite the fact it probably isn't best suited to my (oily) skin!

It is so rich and refreshing and really feels like you're getting all of the grime out of your face whilst nourishing it at the same time. As famous 'Queen of cleansing' Eve Lom herself said, if you have a good enough cleanser, you can use the cheapest moisturiser your like...and I don't believe it comes much truer than with this cleansing milk!

It is though, I must say, probably not suited to my skin. It didn't do it great damage of course, just probably is (especially in Summer) too rich for my skin. But I imagine someone with dry skin would absolutely love it.

It smells divine and is certainly the kind of high quality product I have come to expect from Guerlain. It also lasts quite a while, I think this one has lasted me between 3 and 4 months using it twice a day every day. It also has the bonus of the beautiful packaging which anyone could display in their bathroom with pride!

        Disadvantages

A lovely cleanser at a premium price

After my favourite cleanser was discontinued, I decided to have a bit of an experiment varying from high end cleansers to your bargain ones. When you hear the name Guerlain, you automatically assume that the product will be expensive but luxurious and effective.

Guerlain is a French perfume house and amongst the oldest in the World, so I decided to give the Guerlain Moisturising Cleansing Milk a go at £18 for a 200ml bottle, it isn't cheap but is definitely worth the money as it actually works. I would say I have combination skin as my skin can be quite dry from the air conditioning at work but then I do have an oily t-zone, so I tend to go for creamy cleansers that I wash off.

You only need to apply a small amount to your face, I tend to leave it on for a couple of minutes and let it absorb all the impurities, I then wash it off with a warm muslim cloth and splash my face with cold water to close the pores. My skin is left clean, fresh and I have received complients on how my skin is glowing.

So far, I have been using this for just over a month on and off, and I have only used about a third of the bottle, so can see a bottle lasting for a good few months, so the price isn't that bad if you think about it relatively to cost per use. My skin always appears better after using this and it feels smooth to me. I would say that there isn't really a scent to it, which can be seen as a positive and negative depending on what you prefer.

Again the only negative is the price but you get what you pay for and you know that when you buy products made by Guerlain, it is an effective product and if it was slightly cheaper, I wouldn't give a second thought to buying it again.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Pricey but effective cleanser, not so great on the moisturizing front.

I was rather narked last year when The Body Shop discontinued the Jojoba day cream which had become a daily part of my skin care regime. At £9 a pot it was not the cheapest but because I have quite sensitive and dry skin I had discovered that this particular cream worked wonders for me and as such the cost was justified.

When I learnt they were discontinuing the line I immediately stocked up on a few tubs but by December I had completely run out and had to start trialling different creams to find a daily replacement. This search is ongoing and as yet I have not identified a worthy contender. This Guerlain moisturizing cleansing milk came as part of a sample set of products which my local concession (in House of Fraser) gave me to try. It is so worth asking for this kind of sample because the full size bottle of this product is £18 (!).

So, this is not a straight moisturiser but a cleansing milk with moisturiser qualities, you can choose to actually leave it on your skin as you would with a moisturizer or wash/wipe it off as you would with a cleanser, this was one of the selling points that the counter lady explained to me, that you can use this in different ways depending on how much time you have and what your skin needs on a particular day. Fair enough, I thought.

I have tried using this both ways and definitely prefer it in a cleansing capacity. A little does go a long way with this product and it is virtually fragrance free (another plus point for me as strong scents tend to aggravate my skin) and using it as a cleanser it does seem to remove a lot of dirt and grease from deep within the pores. I tend to add a little water, massage it into my face and then wipe it off with a damp muslin cloth. My face does feel very clean - just not overly moisturised.

Leaving the product on the skin does not suit me particularly well as it does not seem to sink in very well and while it is not greasy or heavy I am conscious it is just sitting on my skin.

For now I am not convinced enough to spend £18 on a full size bottle of this and will continue trying other products. That said, if someone bought me a bottle as a present I would be very grateful and would use it as a luxury cleanser.

Only worth the big bucks as a gift in my opinion and not really an everyday product for me.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Recommended as a top cleanser

This is a product i would certainly recommend and I'm rather pleased to have found some of it in my xmas stocking, good old Santa, but it does come with a hefty price tag which is the only downside to it as far as I'm concerned.

It is probably the best, or certainly one of the best, cleasers that I have ever used, it is really kind to my skin and does an excellent job of removing make up and dirt and leaving my pores nice and clean. This is really imporatnt as I am prone to having dry skin which dries out very quickly so I tend to mositurise a lot and the fact that this product can be used with water is a real bonus.

I also find when using this product that I only need to use a small amount, as a little goes a long way, it absorbs into the skin really easily and then it is easy to remove any traces with warm water and a towel. It leaves my skin feeling very smooth and glowing with good health, clean and refershed and feeling very supptle and cared for. It is pretty much odourless as well which is another plus for me as it does not end up competing with any other products I might apply.

It comes in a fairly unispiring blue bottle which is nothing special, it is not exactly cheap running it at around £20 a bottle but for me it is worth the extra given the quality and how well it works with my skin.

At £18 for a relatively small tube this is not exactly cheap however for me it is proberly the best, or at least one of the best, cleansers that I have used as it is so good for my skin and this offsets the cost of the item as to find a product that really works is a real bonus. My skin can dry out quite easily due to work and the amount of exercise that I do and hence I moisturise on a regular basis and what I like about this product is that I can use it with water.

A relatively small amount is needed and it absorbs into my skin really easily and then you can remove any trace with warm water to leave you face feeling fresh abd the skin is positively glowing, you can also remove with cotton wool as well but I must admit I tend to use water.

A bottle lasts me about three months which is not bad and is also a bit of a relief given the price. My skin always feels wonderfully smooth when I use this product, I have a typically latin complexion and this product is ideal for my skin. It is largely odourless and is very easy to remove once you have finished applying it and it is ideal for dry skin.

The only downside is the price but then that is generally a problem with all the Guerlain range as they are not cheap however when the product does such a good job you cannot really complain and it is worth looking out for any offers and stocking up when you get the chance.

A big five stars from me and a product I really do recommend.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Look elsewhere for the everyday

As soon as you hear the name 'Guerlain' you think 'expensive', and Guerlain Moisturizing Cleansing Milk is no exception at £18 for a small plastic bottle.

That said, if, like me, you have sensitive skin, it's worth a try, and your local concession should supply you with a trial size to try prior to making a purchase (I'd never spend so much on what is essentially Pond's Cleansing Cream without checking my skin wasn't going to break out the moment it touched it).

So, all you need to do is splodge (technical term) it all over your face and rub it in/off with a cotton wool ball or pad. You can then either just leave it (which I don't like to do, because though it isn't a greasy product, I don't like leaving ANY product on my face), or you can wash it off with plain water and pat dry with a towel. You can't do this with all cleansers so this is an added bonus.

It works for me. I usually have an oily t-zone, a chin prone to little spot breakouts and a dry temple area. This sorts the lot out. It has almost no scent and leaves my skin soft and refreshed.

That said. It works, but it doesn't work any BETTER than a cleanser costing a third as much. Currently I am using something almost identical from Avon at £6. I can't really justify the extra money, the packaging really isn't much and the product is pretty generic. There are many areas where spending a bit more is wise but I can't really see it here. It's a 3/5 for me because whilst it works, it is vastly overpriced for what it is. If it cost around £9 I'd still say it was at the high end of prices for what it does - it does seem you're paying for the name here. Hmm. Sorry about the mixed review. But if you're looking for a miracle skin cleanser, I just can't see what justifies the cost.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Most of my adult life has been spent searching for a cleanser that does the job. I'm a fussy so and so, and I prefer a cleanser you can use with water, so I'm immediately a bit limited. I also have combination skin that tends towards oily in the middle and Gobi-desert dry the further out you get, and had, until this year, despaired totally of ever finding a cleanser that got rid of the greasy bits while dealing with the flakey bits as well. I had a modicum of success with the Estee Lauder foaming cleanser, but still felt tight and dry after using it. Happily, I was given a tester of Guerlain's Moisturising Cleansing milk while buying some perfume. It was so great I went back to the shop the next day and bought pretty every skincare thing they had. You slather the stuff on to your face and neck, and massage it in. You can remove it with cotton wool, or water, which was perfect for me; I really don't feel clean unless I've had water on my face. It's very moisturising, but cleans excess sebum right up. And the wonderful thing about it is that it's also full of alpha-hydroxy (I think) acids. I've been using it for about 6 months now, and not a flake of skin has been found anywhere on my face since. You do get through a bottle in a couple of months, and it's 18 pounds a throw, which some may consider a bit much for facewash, but I don't really think it's too much to pay for the perfect dewy skin I've had since using it. Watch out the first couple of times you use it; it can sting a little at first. Persevere; by about your third application you won't feel a thing. What astonished me about it has been the total transformation in my skin texture and eveness of colour. My skin's amazingly smooth, and it's not even combination any more. I'd recommend this to everyone; at least try to get your hands on a tester so you can use it for a week first to s
          ee how it goes.
