Guerlain Super Aqua Serum
On a recent shopping trip I decided to indulge my love of all things cosmetic and skin care related and spent far too much money on things I wanted rather than needed. Among the more expensive of my prizes was Guerlain's super aqua serum, a beautiful smelling and super hydrating moisturiser.
One of the first things and probably my favourite thing I noticed about this super aqua serum from Guerlain is their new star ingredient in the super aqua range, which is the lovely smelling Desert Rose. Guerlain say that the desert rose flower complex was chosen for "its extraordinary ability to retain water and survive in extreme dry climates. The desert rose brings its amazing anti-dehydration properties to the new generation of Super Aqua-Serum skincare products." Despite being this wonder ingredient it has a fantastic and subtle rose smell that I find gorgeous. It is a really delicate and feminine scent that does linger for a moment when first applied but it is in no way overpowering or too strong. It really is worth trying, if like me you love the smell of rose.
The Super Aqua Serum, contains high concentrations of hydrating and anti-ageing agents which makes this a perfect moisturiser for the younger and older among us. I'm not quite yet at the age where I am overly concerned about anti-aging properties in my products, but it's nice to get something that helps to protect against the inevitable.
The serum has a lovely creamy texture, which feels rich and smoothes into your skin very easily while being absorbed quite quickly. It also instantly leaves your skin feeling hydrated and smoother. The great effect of this moisturiser lasts all day and I find that if I apply this and then apply my makeup, my foundation looks and applies better. I have from time to time also been applying this at night instead of a night cream and it does leave my skin feeling great in the morning.
Personally, I don't think the packaging is all that attractive. Don't get me wrong, I do like it and it does feel like a quality, sturdy product and I like the blue. I just think that it should be even more special when you are paying so much for it. It's nice but it doesn't quite fit with the hefty price tag.
--The expensive bit--
This typical retails for around £64 for a 30ml bottle, which does last for a while if like me you use it very sparingly. It might be worth shopping around to see if you can find this cheaper but it is a quality skin care product that doesn't work miracles but it does leave your skin feeling very pampered and well cared for.
I bought this as a treat to cheer me up and hopefully make my skin feel and look that bit better and it did do all those things. However, I don't think this is something that I would buy on a regular basis, if you have the money to spare then do splash out on this as it is a lovely quality product.
I would happily give this four out of five stars, it would have received the full five if it wasn't so pricey. Guerlain is a brand that are known to produce great skin care and makeup products and this serum is no exception. If you do fancy trying this then go along to your local counter (if you have one) and try some out. When you are paying so much for a skin care product I find to avoid disappointment it is always best to try before you buy, not all products react the same on everyone's skin.
Overall, I have been and I am still very happy with this super aqua serum and will continue to use mine until I've dragged every last drop out of the bottle.
