I personally use facial wipes almost every day, they are so handy to use and I actually much prefer them to using soap and water. The ones I was using most recently, until I switched back to my Simple wipes that is, were Johnsons’ Daily Essentials Oil Balancing Facial Wipes. I bought these as I have a very oily T zone and they are supposed to be really good for helping to eradiate this problem. I have used Johnsons wipes for years now but these were fairly new on the market at the time and only £1.20 for twenty wipes and so I decided to give them a go.
The wipes themselves are a good size, very think to feel and they actually feel like excellent quality. Unlike some of the cheaper wipes I have used, these do not rip or shred and they also take off my mascara and eyeliner without any trouble at all. Unfortunately, they are not at all good at removing waterproof eye make up and I know this as I occasionally use a waterproof mascara by Estee Lauder and I end up with real panda eyes whenever I try to remove this wit these wipes.
On the positive side, however, I do feel that they do help to control my ply T zone. I have noticed that the longer I have used these wipes, the less oil the area between by nose and also on my chin has become. This is a real bonus for me because even at my age (in my thirties!) I still get the occasional break out in this area and it is a pain as I know it is due to being oily in that area. I wont say it has got rid of the problem totally but it has certainly helped a lot.
I only ever use two wipes maximum and this will remove a full face (including my eyes) of all traces of make up so they work out at really good value for money in my opinion.
The smell fresh and clean and leave my skin feeling lovely and soft afterwards and I really do recommend them – just not for waterproof make up though.
WHAT IS IT?
These are face wipes that are made from Johnsons. They are for people who have got greasy skin and say that they will help to control the oil.
HOW DO YOU USE THEM?
You wipe your skin with them and they can be used so that they remove light make up but they are not very good at taking off lip liner or mascara even if it is not waterproof.
WHAT I THINK
I think these wipes are very good but I cannot buy them in very many shops. They make my skin feel very clean and my T zone is oily but when I use these wipes the oil is controlled, this does not last for very long but I like it that I can cleanse the skin on my face using these wipes and then use a moisturiser or primer that helps also for greasy skin and then it it made alot better.
These wipes feel cleasing but I do not like to use them all of the time and only for occasional use, I am happy the wipes stay wet and do not dry up in the packet because I do not use them every day even though I think they work good. I like to use cleanser more than wipes because I wear alot of make up and I do not think these work as good, I know there are make ups that are removed using face wipes but I think that if you want to get very clean skin then you would have to use many wipes and that takes alot of time and would use up a packet very fast.
I used these in the summer on days when I did not wear make up because they feel refreshing and they stopped the oil that is on my T zone from making my face look shiny. They are cool but you can put them into the fridge for a short amount of time and then they are very refreshing in hot weather. They smell clean and refreshing also.
They make my skin a little bit dry but all face wipes do that and these Johnsons ones do not make it worse, I am happy about that but I have found some face wipes that do not make my skin feel as dry as these so I use them instead sometimes but the same as these they are not available in all stores.
A packet of these face wipes costs £1.70 and I think that is value but you might have to go to many shops to find them.
4 Dooyoo Hearts.
When it comes to taking my make up off in the evening, I either use a separate cleanser and toner, or if I am feeling lazy, I use a facial wipe. These are also great for travelling with, so when I was shopping for a weekend away I picked up a packet of Johnson's Face Care Daily Essentials Oil Balancing Facial Cleansing Wipes. I chose these as they were on offer at the time.
The green packet contains 25 moist wipes. Johnson's make a variety of wipes for different skin types. These ones are for combination skin and claim to remove even waterproof mascara. The packet says that they are 'enriched with essential skin loving minerals and vitamins' and that skin is left 'cleansed, soft and smooth'. They are dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin. They have a use by date of well over 2 years since the date of purchase.
To access the wipes, there is a re-sealable tab over the front of the packet. The wipes are easy to take out individually. You then just use the wipe to take off the make up and grime that your skin has collected over the day.
I have found these wipes to be very good. They do remove all my make up (I don't use waterproof mascara so cannot comment on that claim) and they leave my skin feeling clean and ready to be moisturised. My face almost feels lighter after a day of walking around in the not so clean and fresh London air. The downside to these is the smell. To me they have a deep masculine scent, and not something I would chose to put on my face. Luckily once I moisturise I can no longer smell it.
Although these wipes really work, I would not buy them again due to the scent. I am going to purchase a different Johnson's wipe hoping that the effect on my skin will be the same, but with a lighter and more feminine scent.
They are available from most supermarkets and retail in Boots for £3.29. I think this is fairly expensive (13p per wipe) and I would not have brought them at that price.
I am giving them 3 stars as they are a great product, just a bit expensive and the smells not for me.
Thanks for reading
My skin can get a bit oily at random times and I hardly ever find things that work for my skin, so one of the latest wipes I've decided to start using is Johnsons Daily Essentials Oil Balancing Facial Cleansing Wipes. Johnson's are pretty good at making other products so I thought I'd get some luck with my skin out of them.
I didn't purchase these myself, but was given them from my mum, so not to sure on how much they cost. I think they are likely to be within the £3 mark however as I have seen them around. I don't really think they are worth it if you just want something to wipe off your make up, however they are good if you want to clear up your skin a bit more.
In the packet are 25 wipes and they come in a handy sized packet which don't take up too much space in my cupboard and thankfully don't dry out really quickly if left open for a few hours! Some wipes I feel just are too dry, however with these they actually had quite a good feeling to them and it acutally felt as if they were cleaning my face well.
I stopped using my Neutrogena daily face wash and started using the face wipes instead to see if they'd work better. After about a week, my T-zone area was looking better and I had less spots, however I wasn't as impressed as I was when I use my face wash which clears the skin completely and gives a smooth look.
When I used them for taking off my makeup, I was pretty happy with them, as they even took off my waterproof mascara and all of my foundation with just one wipe unlike with some other cheaper brands I've had where I have to use 2.
My mum also has a packet for herself, and her skin reacts to everything. However, when she used them they didn't cause any issues, so they are good for sensitive skin.
Overall, I'd say it is the best for those who have quite greasy skin or issues with their T-Zone as it did manage to clear up my spots relatively well while also being great for taking away makeup to.
I am not a big fan of makeup and in fact can't remember the last time I wore it. Having said this you may wonder why I would then purchase face wipes but there are many other uses for it other than strictly makeup removal.
The last time I visited my local supermarket I noticed a product from Johnson's that I hadn't spotted before. I trust Johnson's products as they are always very high quality and gentle on the skin. For someone with very fair and sometimes sensitive skin it is essential any products I use possess such qualities, especially for use on the face.
First of all the packaging the product comes in is a decent size, not too big and not too small. This means that its easy to use and open (sometimes these types of products where the opening is peal on/off, they can be very fiddly to open for me) and also fits perfectly inside a bag. This is especially useful if you want to carry the face wipes around with you throughout the day, perhaps to keep your face feeling fresh or to remove/modify makeup. This also means it can sit on top of a dressing table or inside a bedside table without taking up too much room which is useful if you happen to use lots of cosmetics.
There are 25 wipes within the packet and they are quite thick and luxurious feeling. This is a rarity as often when I have bought face wipes in the past they have been thin enough to see through if you hold them up to the light. By contrast these are indeed very thick and so hold a lot of moisture which glides across the face in a very gentle way.
There is a slight smell although I wouldn't say that the wipes are fragranced. If anything they smell like a gel/hand wash but the smell is only very subtle. They are very similar to other Johnson products in both smell and feel and despite the price you do definitely feel as though they are very high quality and that they are worth the money.
The product claims to remove even waterproof mascara. Whilst I personally dont wear this and so have had no personal experience with it my sister (who also uses this product as we tend to buy a lot of the same products as you can probably see from some of my other reviews) does, and says it is very gentle and doesn't burn the eyes unlike some other products. This is important to me as I feel a product should always live up to its claims, but in this case the product exceeds them!
I use the product to wipe of the dirt of the day as sometimes (perhaps because I live in the city) my face feels a little heavy and water alone doesn't give it a fresh and light feeling. It is excellent in doing so and afterwards I always feel very smooth faced and fresh. It makes my skin feel very hydrated and is excellent at removing the impurities of the day.
I mentioned previously that these products are a little pricey, and this is true of most Johnson's products. These facial wipes cost me £3.00 however I have seen them in some stores at a little more than this and around the £3.50 mark. While this is quite expensive, this is now pretty standard of cosmetics as they do seem to go up and up in price and so its something one must accept if they want to experience high quality products.
This is definitely a product I would recommend as it does everything it claims to and more. Despite its price, it is high quality, hydrating, and revitalising and leaves the skin feeling smooth and cleansed. If you look around it can be bought on offer for a little under £3 and this is definitely worth looking out for, or even to purchase these wipes online, as I must stress they are very nice facial wipes.
As I am sure you know by now, I adore using facial wipes and as stated in one of my previous reviews, I own approximately 12 packets belonging to various brands. I find them so convenient to use, particularly if I want to quickly freshen my face and neck. I cannot say that I'm loyal to any brand although I most definitely have a few favourites. I tend to pick up a few packets each time I go out shopping, as I find myself using a pack fairly quickly. One of my recent purchases belongs to Johnson's; a well trusted brand that has been around for many years and this review discusses my experience with using their Daily Essentials Oil Balancing Facial Cleansing Wipes.
APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT
The 25 wipes are presented to us in similar style packaging as any other brand of wipes where there is a large white label on the upper section. However, they stand out considerably from the others due to the image of a pale green leaf, which is located in the centre and I believe this to be the emblem for the Daily Essentials range. The familiar Johnson's logo is presented to us in the upper section and we are informed that the wipes are suitable for combination skin. The packaging is a pale shade of green, which gives the impression of clean and fresh and is a good marketing ploy on the part of Johnson's as the appearance is aimed at both male and female. We are advised that the wipes are new, which would explain why I had not previously noticed them on the supermarket shelf. I am a real fan of the Johnson's Daily Essentials range as my experience of using their products has been extremely favourable, as whilst they are effective, they are also very delicate and caring towards the skin.
USING THE WIPES
The large white label on the upper section of the packet easily pulls back to reveal a good size opening to enable me to remove one of the soft wipes, which are of a fairly reasonable thickness. A good point is that the seal secures back into place each time the pack is opened, so I have the assurance that my remaining wipes will remain clean and moist in readiness for my next use. The size is slightly larger than other brands that I have used with their measurements of 19 cm x 18 cm. Whilst many brands of wipes offer a very delicate and fairly acceptable fragrance, I was totally captivated by the aroma that these offer. Unfortunately I cannot recognise any particular scent, but they are so very clean and refreshing and I could even go as far as saying that they offer an extremely calming aroma, which is well suited to both sexes. In fact, when I finish using one of the wipes I often place it directly below my nose so that I can inhale the gorgeous scent.
The wipes offer a reasonable amount of moisture, which is sufficient for me to sweep across my face and neck. What I love about these wipes is that my skin dries within just a few seconds and I feel totally refreshed and thoroughly cleansed with the gorgeous aroma lingering for a short period of time. The wipes effectively remove any grease and impurities and are powerful enough to remove all types of make-up including waterproof mascara. Whilst I have used them to remove foundation, eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner, I am not able to evidence the waterproof mascara claim, as this is not a product that I use. It is always very difficult to ascertain whether these type of products reduce excess oils in the skin, but I can state that my T-zone skin has been in tip top condition for a good six months. However, this is not solely due to this product, as I regularly use washes, scrubs and moisturisers.
Skin hydration is not something I expect to receive from a facial wipe, but I was pleasantly surprised to witness that these delivered a small amount of moisturization, which left my skin feeling silky soft and smooth. As previously advised, I wasn't particularly loyal to any brand of facial wipes, but these are now a firm favourite of mine due to both their gorgeous scent and the superb results they deliver. I cannot recommend these highly enough, as Johnson's have created what I can only describe as the perfect facial wipes and as a result, they receive 5 stars from me.
INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION
There is a lengthy list of ingredients listed on the reverse of the packaging, which I do not intend copying, but although the wipes contain perfume I cannot advise of my experience of any adverse effects, such as stinging or dryness. The wipes should be used within 3 months of opening and they should be not be disposed of down the toilet. The outer packaging can be recycled after use, which surprised me somewhat, particularly as other brands tend to advise that the packaging needs to be disposed of with normal household waste.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
These wipes are readily available in supermarkets and chemists and retail at around £3.05 per pack. However, at the time of writing Boots have an offer whereby you can purchase three packs from them for the price of two, so I've stocked up before the price increases.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
