In the winter when the sun disappears (just like now!) I tend to get worried I look ill. I'm white but have naturally olive skin so I don't suffer from dry skin or general paleness except when winter comes and we've had a shoddy summer.

I wanted a natural warm glow to my face and didn't want all these spray on fake tan things that runs off if your cry or get wet. I was walking round a 99p shop when I spotted this. It was a good price (99p obviously) and was just what I was looking for. Boy was I totally wrong.

I don't think I realised what I was doing so I was applying this every morning and night. 2 days later, I was umpa lumpa orange! The worst thing is that I didn't realise due to there not being much natural light in my bedroom and walked outside. My grandparents burst out laughing when they came to pick me up. I looked in the side mirror of his car to see I was as bright as the sun.

I ran inside and tried my hardest to get the colour off and as it was a gradual tan and exposed in darkness e.g at bedtime, I hadn't realise how severe it was or that it didn't come off so easy. I plastered my face with some really pale face powder and went to my grandparents house where she helped me get it off with lemon juice.

A few weeks later I thought I would try it again only using a small amount and doing it just once. When I woke up the next day there was a nice warm glow to my face and it wore off within a day or two so I could just re-apply it then. It isn't the sort of moisturiser you could use every day as it is so dark!

Daily facial moisturiser by Johnsons for holiday skin is enhanced with tanning qualities which darkens over night or throughout the day. It comes in a 50ml squeezy tube. Tiny amounts are best used as if you start smearing it all over the place, you will go orange. Not a nice orange either.

Unless I had a rather dodgy bottle and it had too much tan in it, I don't know but I do use it regularly throughout the winter after using it properly. The box makes you think it could replace your general moisturiser. Seriously, it doesn't.

I wouldn't suggest this for very pale skin as it would just turn your skin orange. Used in moderation you can get the glow you are after, but continual use for more than a day or two will result in getting tangoed like me.

A good plus is that it does blend well and doesn't leave you with lines where you've put too much or too little in places. I would suggest this to anyone who can use things well and wouldn't do what I did and just jump straight in.
