The Kiehl's Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter is available for GBP 36.00.
The body butter is described as follows. "Inspired by the classic and original Creme de Corps body cream,a customer favorite for decades, this luxurious air-whipped body butter delivers rich hydration for up to 24 hours for a wonderfully indulgent (and addictive!) experience. Now available in a new larger size for even more sinful addiction. This luxuriously scented cream is light on skin yet rich in 24-hour hydration. This formula is quickly absorbed to deliver deep moisturization with an addictive scent."
The smell of the Body Butter is quite specifically - foody, a little coconut, warm and toasty. But: Absolute matter of taste, the body butter in my opinion is a product that you hate or love either. The cream spreads easily on the skin and takes a couple of minutes until it feeds. The conditioning effect I guess a similar configuration as when the Creme de Corps. I have very dry skin on the body, but a minimal film she leaves with me. The smell keeps me pretty long, so I love him too, for me it is a product for the evening, during the day it competes me too much with the perfume. If you like the scent and dry skin has is with this product correctly in either case. It's really fun to distribute the buttery-creamy consistency on the skin. For me, anyway more of a product for cold weather or at night.
I was so happy when I got this - finally I had found something, a body lotion that claimed to be light in texture, skin nourishing and had an SPF where I could also use frequently on my hands - doubling up as a hand moisturiser.
When I first opened it to try, it smelt gorgeous and made me feel hungry, it contains shea butter so smells a bit chocolatey and buttery, just of some food. Generally, I don't like this sort of scent, as it just makes me feel as if I'm applying some food on my body, I prefer a fresher feel and refreshing light scents.
The texture is light but it was not as light as I had hoped, it was still quite a thick lotion I would say, but nevertheless it absorbs very well into the skin. Personally, I also feel the scent is quite strong although it is still a pleasant smell. I always felt conscious that people around me might smell it and think I had just had some heavy load of chocolate or something. Sorry...
The cream is fairly hydrating, but for really dry wrinkled skin, it does not have much effect. A great moisturiser, but I can still feel that I have this heavy cream on me. It would be great if they could make the texture even lighter and also make is fragrance free.
For the price, I think it's a little too high, especially that it is just a nourishing moisturiser with some shea butter, and many others that are on the market have this and are far cheaper.
It's worth a try but I would prefer something lighter with a more refreshing lighter scent.
I first received a sample of this body moisturiser on a trip to a Kiehl's store. I never thought much of it before because I never believed in using a lotion that cost more than £5. As it was a sample I decided to give it a go anyways. I'm so glad that I did and the effectiveness of this body lotion now has me willing to go above my £5 threshold. It leaves the skin very silky and I like the sheen it gives me. It has no fragrance, just the smell of the actual ingredients and I like that - it means that there is less chances for an irritation. A little goes a long way and sometimes I even use it as a hand cream. In the winter I usually use olive oil as well as my body lotion to prevent my skin from flaking and this Kiehl's Creme de Corps body lotion means I don't have to use the olive oil and be greasy when I step out of the shower. It is oil based so it can feel greasy to some but it is the perfect winter body lotion. I highly recommend this body lotion and it is now a firm favourite of mine
Kiehls Crème De Corps Rich Moisturising cream
I received this body lotion as part of my Selfridges Beauty Advent Calendar last Christmas - I have only just go round to using it up as I have so many body lotions.
- Product description (from Kiehls.com)
"Elegant Creme de Corps is rich in all-day hydration and ideal for luxuriously pampering skin. We all scream for this iconic body cream! Enriched with the finest skin-nurturing ingredients known to Kiehl's for a rich, elegant skin texture."
- About the product
The bottle I have is the small 30ml or 1 fl oz bottle but is can come in up to 16.9 fl oz bottles too. The packaging is really nice, it looks simple but expensive. Kiehls is an American brand it is based in new York since 1851. There are quite a lot of ingredients in this product, most of which is not natural to my knowledge but some ingredients are natural such as apricot oil, shea butter, avocado oil and sesame seed oil.
- Using the product and results
I have been using this product for the past week or so as it doesn't last long for a small bottle and a little doesn't really go a very long way with this lotion. The lotion itself is yellow in colour, it looks like cupcake frosting. The lotion is fairly thick but it is no where near as thick as a body shop body butter. The lotion has a really smooth texture and it applies nicely but it doesn't have a scent - it smells a bit like plastic. The lotion doesn't take very long to absorb into the skin and it leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft and moisturised but it can make my skin feel heavy and a bit tacky - even after the lotion has absorbed. Overall, a nice product but due to the slight tackiness and price I wouldn't buy it - but it does keep my skin well moisturised and smooth for the night/day.
- Price and availability
This product can be bought as a 125ml bottle which can be priced as £18 on spacenk and on John lewis the 125ml is priced at £16. There is also a 250ml bottle which is priced at £27 on house of fraser which I think is far too overpriced for what the product is - I have tried many other body lotions/butters most of which are just as good as this (or even better - and cheaper).
*Smooth texture and applies quickly/easily
*Leaves my skin smooth and well moisturised for a while
*Leaves a slightly heavy/tacky feel to the skin
*No scent which is a negative for me but it may be a positive point for others
Thank you for reading my review
Kiehls is a brand which started out life as a pharmacy back in 1851 and one that sells beauty products for the hair, face and body. I have heard Kiehl's Crème De Corps mentioned in so many different magazines over the years but have never got round to buying it due to the price. While I am happy to splash out on beauty products, when it comes to body moisturisers I don't find it necessary because my favourite ones are all around the £10 mark, but I recently gave into the temptation and purchased the product.
What does the product do?
This best selling product is a rich body moisturiser which promises to keep your skin hydrated all day long. The luxurious cream claims to nourish and nurture your body with skin loving ingredients that will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth to the touch.
How does the product work?
The product contains Cocoa butter which is one of nature's greatest moisturisers and comes from the seeds of the Cocoa plant. The substance melts at body temperature and it is absorbed instantly by the skin. It is incredibly hydrating and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. The butter nourishes the skin with vitamins and as it is an antioxidant, it will prevent the skin from aging prematurely. Shea butter is included for much the same reason and moisturises the skin deeply.
Beta-Carotene also helps to keep the skin looking youthful and as it contains Vitamin A, it conditions and strengthens the skin. Sesame Oil is present in order to give the skin a deep hydration which leaves the skin soft and supple. It nourishes and strengthens the skin with vitamins and fatty acids, and it also has healing properties. Olive Oil improves the overall condition of the skin while Almond Oil nourishes the skin. Obviously the inclusion of this ingredient makes the product unsuitable for use on those who suffer with a nut allergy.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied in the same way as any other body cream. It should be applied to clean, dry skin and smoothed over the whole body in an upwards direction until it has been fully absorbed. It can also be reapplied as necessary but I don't think the product is suitable for use on the face. I certainly wouldn't use it on my anyway.
Packaging and Price
The product comes enclosed within a large plastic bottle which is translucent so you can see the product inside. This is handy because you know exactly how much of the product you have left. In order to dispense the product, you push down on the pump mechanism and the product is released. It is fairly easy to control the amount that you want to use. The label has no images but has almost an essay of black writing which gives you more information about the product.
The product is available in a variety of different sizes. I chose to buy the 250ml bottle which cost me £17 but there is also a 500ml bottle which obviously costs more. A travel sized bottle is also available. The product can be bought from large department stores such as Boots and from a whole host of different websites.
This product has a rich and luxurious consistency and it has a yellow colour that looks incredibly similar to actual butter. The product has an incredibly subtle scent that doesn't really smell of anything in particular so that's good if you don't like the scent of your body creams to mingle with your perfume. I love fragranced body butters, especially The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory, but I'd rather than have no scent than a herbal or floral one which is not really my thing.
The pump mechanism is easy to use and a nice amount of the cream is released each time that I push down on the top so you don't need to get all your arm muscles working just to access the product. I think this form of packaging is useful because you are not constantly exposing it to the air and you are not putting your fingers in the product periodically so it is more hygienic.
Despite the cream being very rich, it is actually absorbed much quicker by my skin than I initially thought that it would be. It sinks into my skin and instantly makes it feel hydrated and more comfortable. It doesn't make me feel sticky or unclean as some rich products can and other than a healthy sheen, it leaves no greasy residue on the surface of my skin. As it is absorbed fairly quickly, I don't have to wait long before I can get dressed or climb into bed.
The results on my skin are fantastic. Kiehls tell us that you need to use the cream repeated over 10 days before we see proper results but the results were visible immediately on my skin. My legs are incredibly moisturised, really soft and they look in a very good condition too. This cream banishes all signs of dry and flaky skin which will hopefully mean that my tan will last longer.
The effects of the cream are long lasting and if I apply the product in the morning, then I won't feel the need to reapply the product again until the night time. It has had beneficial effects on my stubborn dry areas such as my knees and elbows with repeated use and those areas are now much softer than before. I have also found this product doubles up as an after sun cream because it is so hydrating and because of all the antioxidants which it contains.
If you find that you love this product as much as I do then you may be interested in the other products in the Crème de corps range. This includes the Crème de corps Soy Milk & Honey whipped body butter, the lightweight body lotion SPF30, the body polish or the nurturing washing cream. There are also collection sets available where you can purchase them all.
Overall, this product lived up to all the hype that I have been hearing over the years. It is highly moisturising and its effects are long lasting. The lotion is rich and luxurious without an overpowering scent and it visibly improves the condition of the skin. It is a pricey product but worth every penny in my opinion.
A long time ago I had a friend living in New York who would rave about Kiehl's and especially the Crème de Corps. Once it was available in the UK I couldn't wait to try it. I have to confess that I was not that impressed by the rather plain packaging and rather unexciting pale yellow body lotion. Especially when it could hardly be considered cheap! All doubts vanished however after applying it. It really does improve your skin making it lovely and soft. Yes even my scaley elbows! The good news is than a little does go a long way so even a small bottle will last for a reasonable amount of time. As there is very little scent it will not clash with your perfume. Of course there is no getting away with the fact that it is quite expensive however the large bottles do work out good value although if you haven't tried it before you may wish to stick to a smaller size to give it a trial first.
How I wish I could afford the full 500ml bottle!
But at £50 I think I'll have to settle for the mini bottles which seem to come with gift boxes and other purchases! At the moment you can get personalised bottles. A cute if not pricey idea!!
Kiehl's is a fantastic company in my opinion! They use minimal additives and the idea seems to be to help you with realising the natural beauty of your skin rather then plumping it up with natural serums (no names mentioned!) and using minimal extra rubbish to bulk up and thicken products. The staff are very helpful and the samples they often give you when you make a purchase are very deluxe in size. I fully rate visiting and purchasing as its so fantastic for samples!
I had somehow ended up with about 5 mini bottles of the cream de corps. I have to admit I am very lazy when it comes to body lotions! (I just don't tend to bother) but almost a year of using the showers in LA fitness which only seem to have one temperature setting (very hot but just about bearable) I have ended up with skin that is so dry that if I wear black clothing, you can see my skin shedding all over it once its off! Scary! I have also developed tight and itchy skin along my spine- its just because its so dry. I apply this cream and ... problem solved!
The cream is a thinner lotion type, a yellow colour and smells of a neutral comforting sort of smell. Its not detectable once applied which makes it great for applying perfumes and additional scents afterwards. Its the favorite of all the Kiehl's creams I've tried as none seem to offer the same qualities as this one.
I like this cream as it's fairly fast to absorb. I hate creams and body butters where 20 minutes later you still have a film all over your skin, or worse, you apply and then dress and find your clothes have eaten most of the cream and your new trousers have greasy looking and dodgy marks all over them!
I have to wait about 5 minutes max for this to soak in, and my skin feels very relieved. I find I don't need to apply cream again until I shower the next day.
The cream works well all over, my legs, my back, my hands, my chest- everywhere. I haven't tried my face but I'm sure it'd be fine here too!
I'd say this cream works for everyone. Children, adults, people like me with heat affected dry skin, and its light enough that if you have skin which is quite oily, it wont make it worse, it works well, works for a long time and does a great job on elbows and knees- and I can also rate it for use as an aftershave too.
I wish my version of Father Christmas was loaded enough to afford this!
.....let me count the ways:-
1. The original body cream is uber-rich and good for dry areas such as your knees, shins and elbows. It's a wintertime must for the skin conscious lady. I have dry and sensitive skin and it's always worked wonders. Perfect after a shower or bath for a bit of home-spa. Watch out - it takes a while to sink in so not a product to be used if you're in a rush.
2. Speaking of home-spa, you might like to try the body scrub. Use it in the shower. Same delicious smell, good lather and just the right amount of scrub, which means you won't emerge from the shower looking like a burns victim (watch out for Body Shop's lavender salt scrub - the beauty product sanctioned by Beelzebub himself).
3. In the summer I switch to the new lightweight body lotion, which gives equally good results but is light and absorbed in a fraction of the time. It's good if you're in a hurry and it's a bit cheaper than the original cream. If you want something from the range that you can use all year round, go for this one.
Conclusion? Ladies, we all deserve a bit of luxury. I would recommend going for the lightweight lotion for year round usage and if you're feeling flush (or have a birthday coming up?) get all three!
A cult product that Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, James King, Liv Tyler?(you get the picture) can not live without. Kiehl's has been around since 1851 as is known for it's fine ingredients and outstanding quality. Crème de Corps is a luxurious all over body moisturiser which contains elements of Avocado Oil, Calendula, Sesame Oil and Cocoa Butter. What makes this product unlike any other is the fact that it doesn't contain a trace of water making it remarkably rich. You may be thinking "Well, how is it going to absorb into my skin if it doesn't consist water?" The answer to that is it has an ingredient called Squalene that reacts very well with the skin and quickens the process of the cream sinking in. The thick yellow, non-perfumed cream can be applied anytime and as often as necessary and is best left on the skin for a few minutes before dressing. The results you get from this cream are immaculate and it's extremely impressive that a cream so rich doesn't leave the skin greasy at all, just baby smooth with a delicate sheen. This product can be used by people of all ages and pregnant women swear it helps to get rid of stretch marks. The Kiehl's packaging hasn't changed since the business started and the bottles look like something out of a pharmacy but then that is where Kiehl's originates from. Kiehl's is really exclusive around the world. There is one Kiehl's store in New York and then it is sold in a handful of concessions in England. Liberty have the biggest range in England and if you can't get there, you can buy it via mail order. Crème de Corps starts at $14 for a 4 fl.oz bottle but there are much bigger bottles. That price is above average for a moisturiser but the ingredients are extremely rare and if it leaves the skin looking good enough to eat, who cares?
This is a thick creamy body mosituriser the colour of custard and it smells divine (although not of custard I'm afraid!). It's a cult product and yes you've guessed it, it's pricey, for a smallish bottle it costs about £17.00 (if you've got a nice boyfriend then it's a great pressie - trust me!) It sinks in reasonably well, especially after a bath or shower and leaves your skin super smooth. The bottle is a squeezy plastic and clear but does not detract and actually makes the product look funkier. This is really a product for someone who lurves cult beauty products and doesn't mind paying for them!!
An enriched, nourishing treatment for very dry skin that needs extra care /
