      Gentle cleansing milk

I do like using cleansing milk as I prefer the thin consistency and find that they usually do just a good a job as the more thicker concentrated products which I find sometimes leave a residue on my face. I find a good cleansing milk will remove all traces of make up from my face and leave it feeling refreshed and product free. I have bought a lot of L'Oreal products over the years and have always found them to be suitable for my skin and also quite reasonably priced.

I bought this L'Oreal Penitude Visible Radiance cleansing milk for just £1.99 from a local discount store which I think is a fabulous price for a L'Oreal product. I have had a look online and think this may be discontinued by L'Oreal now but you can pick it up from Ebay or Amazon for around £2.50 to £3.50. It is a 200ml bottle which will usually last me for around three to four months as I also do use wipes as well as cleanser.

This milk contains magnesium which is said to have revitalising properties and vitamin C, and it has been dermatologically tested and I can say that it has never irritated my skin or caused any irritation. The liquid is white and milky in appearance and it smells fresh and clean without being too strong or overpowering although it is thicker than other cleansing milks I have used. It is hypo-allergenic and does not contain any alcohol and it is supposed to give your skin a radiance as well as cleansing.

To use I will tip a small amount onto a cotton wool pad and find that you don't really need much as it seems to go a long way. It stays on the cotton wool pad without soaking right in and I find that one application is enough to wipe over my whole face and neck. I will use small outward sweeping motions starting at the top of my face going down to my neck and then will finish off by wiping around my eyes.

My skin feels soft and quite hydrated afterwards and I don't feel the need to use anything else straight away although I will use a moisturiser or night cream just before going to bed. I think that my skin does look smooth and bright with using this milk and the fresh clean feeling does last for some time however I haven't really noticed any 'radiance' or anything different than other L'Oreal cleansers I have used.

I do like this cleanser and will continue to use it and would buy it again, so I do recommend it and if you can pick it up for £1.99 I think it is a good price for a good quality product which is gentle but removes every trace of my make up and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh.

      initial looks can be deceiving

L'Oreal is a beauty brand offering skin, make up, hair and sun products.

      ~Visible Radiance~

The Visible Radiance range includes a gel toner and a cleansing milk. The cleansing milk is titled "L'Oreal Visible Radiance Renewing Cleansing Milk" It claims to cleanse the skin, improve texture and detoxify.

This cleansing milk is enriched with vitamin C and is designed to remove dead skin cells. It contains Hydro-Novil which hydrates and exfoliates the skin to give it a radiant finish. Your skin should be left deeply cleansed when used morning and night with a cotton pad. It can be used alone or followed with any brand of toner and moisturiser.

The cleansing milk is presented in a slimline, clear plastic bottle with a flip top lid. The bottle hosts various pieces of information including claims, how to use and warnings. The bottle can be recycled and once opened, should be discarded after 6months. I do believe the packaging design has been updated recently and is slightly different to the picture above.

This cleansing milk isn't very easy to locate. It is presented in a 200ml bottle. Wilkos offer it at £2.79. It can be purchased online from Amazon for £3.59. A few other online stores sell it.

      ~My Thoughts~

I used to simply remove make up and daily grime from my face with a cleansing wipe. I sometimes still do this if I am short of time or feeling rather lazy. I currently have around 8 cleansing milks, lotions or waters in my beauty box and all from various brands and price ranges. I have been using each for a few weeks at a time to determine which suits my skin best. I purchased this one in a Boots clearance for 80p a few months ago.

The bottle design I have is the older style and I feel thats why I got it so cheap! The body is sturdy and easy to manipulate. I use a cleanser in the morning after splashing my face with some cool water and last thing at night to remove the day from my face. I usually opt for wash off cleansers but this one doesn't need rinsed. I trust the L'Oreal brand for make up but how did I get on with skin care?

      ~Dirty Mare..~

This cleansing milk has a fresh, creamy scent to it. It is thicker than your average milk and has a lotion like quality to it. It is suitable for all skin types so I was happy it would suit my dry/occasionally oily skin. I squeeze a small blob onto a cotton pad and sweep it across my face. I usually need just one pad in the morning as they are quite thick and can turned over for a further use. The milk feels soothing and refreshing on my face but a little tingly. My face isn't usually dirty in the morning but this does freshen it up. It absorbs fairly well into my skin and I can follow up with a toner. My skin does feel clean but not deep down clean like I would expect. My face feels a little sticky until I apply my toner.

The real challenge is whether or not it removes any make up and dirt from my face at the end of the day. I need 3 cotton pads for light make up. A blob on the pad sweeps across my face and removes the surface make up. I don't cake it on but I was disappointed with its ability to remove make up. I don't use it for eye make up as its too thick and prefer my Clinique remover for that purpose. After 3 pads were dirty with make up, my skin again felt fresh.

The disappointing factor came when I swept some toner across my face after using this cleansing milk. Although my face looked clean and felt clean, the milk failed to draw the dirt from my pores and therefore doesn't provide a deep cleansing experience. There was still quite a bit of excess make up on the pad after using a toner so I wasn't impressed.

I wouldn't say there was any radiance booster effects noticeable. I used the cleansing milk with a different toner but that shouldn't matter as the bottle claims I should have radiance effects from using this milk alone! It didn't irritate my skin nor did it do anything for the dryness on my forehead. After the sticky feeling disappears, my skin feels soft but I use a toner anyway!

I'm glad I tried this product but I wouldn't repurchase even if it was widely available. It may be fairly cheap but it doesn't perform as well as you would expect. The scent is pleasant and inoffensive but I feel the milk is too thick for its purpose. One bottle does last a while but not as long as a thinner liquid would.

      Thanks for reading x

An ok product, but nothing special sadly

Not very often do I buy cleanser and toner. I mean usually because I'm lazy I will use cleansing wipes or I find that a bottle of cleanser and toner last me donkeys so the other day whilst I was in Boots I remembered I was almost out of cleansing products and so took a look on the shelves. Theres so much to choose from, we are spoilt but in the end I decided to buy a brand I trust and so opted for this in the end as well as it promising to give me 'Visible Radiance' it sounded very promising to me lol.

        The Packaging:

The bottle is tall and white frosted plastic but still a see-through bottle with a flip top white lid secured on with some light blue plastic and it conceals a small hole. On the front of the bottle in gold, dark grey and light blue writing we are told that it is L'Oreal Dermo Expertise Visible Radiance Renewing Cleansing Milk 'Hydra-Novil + Vitamin C and that it 'Cleanses and detoxifies, boosts radiance and improves skin texture' and that it is an anti-ageing cleanser. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it, ingredients are listed, the size is stated (which is 200ml and the only size I have seen this available to purchase in by the way) and contact details for L'oreal are given. This is a nice looking, sturdy and informative bottle that looks like quality and feels it too.

A Bit About The Product According To The Information Listed On The Back Of The Bottle:

Innovation from the L'oreal laboratories, Visible Radiance Renewing Cleansing Milk is specially designed to deeply cleanse the skin, visibly improving its quality and leaving it feeling like new.

With Hydra-Novil known for its hydrating and and gentle exfoliating properties, and Vitamin C known to boost skin's radiance and smooth the skin. Visible Radiance Milk:

        Remove make-up, impurities and toxins
        Helps remove dead skin cells
        Helps refine skin texture

        Using It:

Well using it is of course is simple enough as its simply a liquid cleanser after all!

It is white and smooth and squeezes out of the bottle really very well indeed and isn't runny or a cream but a thickish lotion really. You simply wipe it over your face with cotton wool or a cotton wool pad or whatever over make-up or whatever else you want to wipe off your face and we are told to rinse it off or use the matching toner to this product afterwards to remove all traces of it. I have got the matching toner though I do like my Olay one really and use whatever I get my mitts on first usually!

On a cleanish face, this is fine. It removes grease and grime with ease and is equally as good when removing light make-up. It has a sort floral and grass smell to it which is fresh and light and sweet enough and the fragrance is ok and disappears after using it rather quickly anyway and it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes at all.

It feels smooth in application and softening without being greasy or skin drying and is straightforward to remove after usage and leaves my skin feeling fresh and looking brighter though I wouldn't say that this is exfoliating because of the added Hydra-Novil or that the Vitamin C particularly boosts radiance much but skin is left with no reside on it and feeling clean and comfortable enough.

Where I do take issue with this product is when removing heavy make-up I.E mascara, liquid eyeliner and the likes. It really struggles to do so and although I can remove most of the make-up on my face with perseverance and time I can always see a bit of mascara stuck between my lashes however if using toner after this I can remove that too but it is dependent on that.

All in all this is an ok product. I don't find I'm visibly radiant since using this however this isn't so rich I've had a break out in spots or more blackheads appearing because of it so I don't feel that this congests pores any more than anything else I use would.

Ok for day to day use but not great at lifting really dark or great branded strong make-up but great for lifting off grease and/or grime but me, I won't be purchasing this again in the future as it just doesn't quite meet my high expectations sadly!

Available in all good chemists and supermarkets my bottle cost me £3.89 in Boots.
