L'Oreal Youth Code is a day cream that is marketed as "rejuvenating and anti-wrinkle".
The cream comes with some impressive quotes from the box, apparently, even giving some time frames:-
1hour - "Skin feels smoother, dehydrated and looks more radiant"
1 week - "Features are more rested, skin tone looks more luminous"
1 month - wrinkles appear visibly reduced and skin looks rejuvenated"
So does the cream live up to it's high expectations?
The cream on first inspection is a white, thick cream with a slight glisten to it, which reminds me of creams with lanolin in them. This does not have lanolin in as far as I can tell but it does have a synthetic wax, so maybe that's it. The smell is not unpleasant and reminds me of old style cold creams.
I found I don't need a lot of cream, I tend to dot a little around my face then gently rub in in circular motions. I have combination skin and it seems to suit this skin type quite well, giving me moisture in the places where needed. As it is such a thick cream I feel gives good protection for my skin on windy days, I spend a lot of time walking my dogs and so in the winter this is especially important factor.
The cream rubs in extremely easily, within a few seconds and leaves a slight shimmer which gives a glow to my complexion, I can confirm my skin feels more hydrated, radiant and smoother! My make up even goes on better with this as a base.
With regards to my features and tone being improved - I use this as a daily cream and when I am on nights I still use it when I get up, which is in the evening so I feel this gave it a good test, as believe me after a week of nights I need something to improve my skin! I do feel it helps the elasticity of my skin seems a little better and my complexion is brighter once the cream has been applied.
So one month down the line did my wrinkles improve? Well fortunately I don't have too many as yet but it lessened the intensity of fine lines by means of plumping my skin I think, but I don't feel it particularly reduced then dramatically.
Would I buy it again? Or recommend it?
Yes on both counts and I would be tempted to try the other products in the range.
The L'Oreal youth code day cream costs around £15 from Boots and is often on a 3 for 2 deal it is a little expensive for 50mls but probably on par with many of the big brands and may be found cheaper in wilko or online occasionally.
Review maybe posted on dooyoo and ciao under the same username.
I am surprised so few people have already reviewed this product...I can't be the only one that wants to look youthful forever! As I'm getting older I can finally see a few wrinkles appearing here and there and I want to try and stay looking young and vibrant for as long as I can. I'm sure lots of women feel the same way, so I thought I would add a review of this product now that I've been using it for around 3 months.
This cream is described as a 'rejuvenating anti-wrinkle day cream' (there is a night version too which I also have and will try and review soon) and should be applied daily, in the morning on thoroughly cleansed skin. I am not really one of these people who 'cleanses' religiously but I do wash my face with a daily facewash, after which I apply this cream. Like I said I have been doing this for around 3 months now, and I am relatively pleased with the results. I do not think that any cream can magically reduce wrinkles and I think everyone needs to be realistic with products like this.
What I like about the product is firstly the feel of it. The cream is white in colour and of a fairly thick consistency, but it glides onto the skin and absorbs quite well. It feels very soft to the touch without being greasy and I do not think that it leaves any grease behind once it has been rubbed into the skin. Secondly it smells pleasant which is nice.
So in terms of whether I can feel any anti-wrinkle effects, this is what I will say - I am blessed with good skin anyway, so yes my skin does look vibrant most days. Whether or not using this cream is helping to maintain that is impossible to say, but it's certainly not doing any harm. Something that is quite nice is that after I have applied this cream, I have noticed that my make-up goes on quite nicely. My foundation sits on my skin quite nicely and I normally apply it immediately after I have put this cream on.
The biggest downside about the cream is the price. I got it when it was on special offer at Christmas so I paid around £7 or £8 for it (can't remember the exact price) but I think the RRP is around £15 which in my opinion is quite a lot for a 50ml pot of cream. I think I would definitely buy it again if it was on offer but otherwise I would probably look for an alternative.
Thanks for reading!
It's true, i had one of those moments where 30 was coming fast and my trip to the shops was not a well thought out experience. Anything with 'youth' 'age' 'wrinkles' 'ageing' on te packet went into the basket! I have since recovered from my 'moment' and have actually started using these rash by products of which Loreal youth code night cream was one of them. I have to say i am impressed. It goes on really well with a nice cool feeling that makes your skin feel refreshed and light. It doesn't cause any greasyness or pore clogging which is a very bad thing for us women. It doesn't fell sticky and you need only a very small amount for your whole face, and so i treat my neck to a bit of TLC as well while i'm at it. In the morning I still have a fresh faced feeling and supersoft skin. I am impressed. And it is a bargain at the price it costs as it lasts such a long time as well. I think its too hard to gage how well my wrinkles shrunk and i'm not sure i had more than a little crease here and there anyway, but i look awake and alive before any make-up goes on and that is good enough for me!
