La Roche Posay Effaclar K
Advantages: Reduced oiliness considerably and made complexion look a bit more even
Disadvantages: £13 fr 30ml...! Useless cap that falls off
I'd heard rave reviews about these product on a few blogs and after doing more research, I was tempted to try it. The deal was sealed when I realised that I needed one more product to get free shipping and a £5 discount on the Boots website, meaning I paid £8 instead of £13. This made the 30ml of product seem much more reasonable!
LA ROCHE-POSAY EFFACLAR K 30ML is a daily renewal fluid gradually exfoliates the skin texture to reduce pores and regain a smooth and clear complexion.
Effaclar is the complete solution adapted for all types of imperfection prone skin. Naturally hyperactive sebaceous glands produce an excess amount of sebum. The skin tends to become shiny. Under the influence of environmental variations, sebum can oxidise and stimulate sebaceous glands even more. The pores get blocked and imperfections may appear.

The product lasts 12 months after opening and comes in a really easy-to-use metal tube. The cap comes off quite easily (i.e. useless!), so I normally just keep it in the box especially when I'm carrying it in a suitcase/makeup bag. The cap is clear and you need only a tiny amount of force to screw it off. The opening is small and pointed, which makes it really easy to just get out the desired amount. The cream is quite thin and white in colour.
I typically use it 1-2 times a day: morning and evening before bed. The product is meant to be a good makeup base, but I've not tried this before.
Even though the instructions tell you to use it on your whole face, I only use it on areas where my skin is oily, red and my pores are large. I used this in a pretty dedicated way for nearly 1 month until I got a cold recently. You're meant to see results within 2 weeks. The instruction leaflet also states that "skin texture is smoothed, pores are tightened and unclogged, imperfections are lastingly diminished, skin is clearer, the complexion more radiant", after using the product. I actually did notice that, despite having an oily T-zone, it had mattified a lot and I would even wake up and the oily areas would be completely non-greasy!...This was really surprising. The complexion looked more even as well. I didn't notice the pore size diminish though. I've not used this for about a week due to travel and illness, and it seems like my skin looks more like it normally does but a little better - Could be due to the product, but I can't be certain!
I didn't experience any discomfort in applying the cream and found that it absorbed into my skin really quickly. Results can't be seen overnight with this cream, but with repeated usage, I have definitely noticed a difference. I would highly recommend that anyone who uses it does a patch test, since the product is quite strong and can be very drying for some people according to reviews I've read on different websites. At £13, I have mixed feelings since it's done a reasonably good job, but I doubt my skin looks much better than if I didn't use it as my main concerns were pores and redness - this didn't change that much. I believe that it would make a good makeup base however due to how matt it's made me skin immediately after using. Overall I would give it 3.5 stars! Hope this helped!
Summary: A pretty good cream, but don't expect huge results from it! Could probably live without it...
