I've had a monthly Glossy Box subscription for quite some time now (which reminds me I really must get around to reviewing the Glossy Box subscription itself), and one of the products I received in one of my Glossy Boxes quite some time ago that I've just recently got around to using is this La Roche-Posay Hydreane Riche moisturising cream.
Most of the products that Glossy Box send are not full size products, so my tube of moisturiser is not full size; it's a 15ml tube. I have to admit that I'd never heard of La Roche-Posay products before receiving this moisturiser in my Glossy Box. A quick Google search though reveals that Boots sell La Roche-Posay products, and that a 40ml tube of the Hydreane Riche costs £11.
My little 15ml tube looks just like the Boots website pic, apart from having a twist off lid at the bottom, the full size 40ml tube looks to have a flip top lid at the bottom.
Hydreane Riche states that it's a moisturising cream for sensitive skin. It's quite a rich thick cream, and it's white in colour. It has really quite a weird florally fragrance, in fact it's actually quite a sickly fragrance, luckily though the odd fragrance doesn't really linger on my skin.
The thick cream does 'seem' to sink into my skin easily enough, I say 'seem' as it does all massage in and sink it, but it does then leave a greasy film on top of my skin. I've tried using it with and without a serum underneath and it still leaves a greasy film on my skin either way. I've tried using less of the cream, just in case I was actually using too much and this is a product that you don't need to use too much of, however if I use less then there's not enough to cover my whole face and my skin doesn't feel moisturised enough. The greasy film seems to stay on my skin all day, and even starts to seep through my make-up.
The most disturbing drawback to this moisturiser though, as if leaving my skin looking like a chip pan wasn't disturbing enough, is that it leaves my face bright red. My skin looks red raw after I've applied this moisturiser, it isn't actually red raw and tender or sore at all, it just looks it. In fact my husband asked me one morning if I'd burnt my face it looked that bad! It's odd in that it doesn't irritate or sting my skin at all, but it makes my face look as though I've had a bad reaction to the cream, or that I've been badly sunburned!
I suppose on the positive side it doesn't dry my skin out!
I can safely say that this is one Glossy Box product that I won't be purchasing. I'm still a bit baffled to be honest as to how this can be suitable for sensitive skin, when my pretty normal skin reacts so badly to it.
