“ Brand: Lancome / Type: Cleanser / What it does: Cleanses, „
I think this is the best cleanser I have come across - I have tried Clinique, Boots own, various other Lancome cleaners and this is still the best one. Unlike most cleaners, it isn't a cream, and it isn't soap based. It's a very soft clear liquid that you use with cotton wool. It doesn't sting when it gets into your eyes, and there's no need to buy a separate eye cleanser, you can just use this - I wear full eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow every day so I know what I am talking about here! Sometimes it is almost miraculous in how quickly it lifts off - it lasts for ages.
I like it because its not messy or overly perfumed. You only need a very thin moisturiser after you have used it as it leaves a slight film of moisture on your skin. I am a very tough critic of cleansers but I have to say this really does it for me. However, everyone's skin is different so i would try to get a sample.
**dooyoo has nicked my capital letters** We've all seen those TV adverts, haven't we - you know the ones I mean: a couple of girls, usually in their mid to late teens; one moaning about her skin despite it looking flawless or containing an alleged pimple (which the camera has to zoom in on to be noticed, the pimple resembling an extremely dodgy pen smear) and the other beaming and looking equally as flawless, reveals her top secret, urm... beauty secret! On revealing her secret product, usually some cleanser or wipe or something - you all know the next bit is coming - it shows a "used" product with utterly fake grime on it, showing that your apparently flawless looking skin (yeah right!) is actually hiding all this nasty looking junk locked deep in your pores, and that the miracle product is the answer. What has this got to do with the actual product I am reviewing, when I have never seen an advertisement for this exact product? Well merely looking at a cleansing product such as this one brings images of those fake adverts to mind - don't you agree? Well you probably don't agree but this is my op so I have to let you in on what's in my mind, don't I !?! I must admit, I neglect my skin terribly. I had combination skin in my early to mid teens which was prone to the usual teen spots, and in those allegedly golden years I used a tonne of these bottled cleansers - where you pour some of the product onto a cotton wool swab and swipe it all over your face taking all that bad grime and dirt from your face and hopefully from deep in your pores too. But as a teen, these products often left my face very tingly and sore and my face looking a bit red and parched. As I got older and my skin got better, I started using better types of these bottled cleansers. Did my skin get better due to the cleansers or due to my hormones finally settling down? I'll never know. What I do know is that I feel a whole l
ot better using these cleansers on an as and when I need them basis during the day, keeping my face feeling clean and refreshed. The cleanser I am now using, and which has been the best one I have ever used, is Lancôme's Eau De Bienfait Clarité - that's 3 in 1 Cleansing and Toning Lotion for face and eyes to you and I. I first bought it whilst holidaying in Tenerife for 16 euros in January, and the bottle is just coming to an end so I bought a new bottle from Boots last week for £16.00. **The Claims** To cleanse and tone the skin To remove face and eye make-up To leave the skin feeling revitalised and toned NB. It states this product is for normal to combination skin **The Product** The bottle is rather attractive looking for a cleanser, but then again it would be as it is a nice branded one rather than the usual generic cheapo's I used to use in my teens! The plastic bottle is tinted pale blue so you can see how much of the product you have used. The writing on the bottle is white and it has the Lancôme rose in gold. At the top of the bottle is a silver band going around it with Lancôme written in white. The lid is white and semi-opaque with the Lancôme rose moulded on the top of it. On the back of the bottle are the claims of the product and the ingredients as well as a website address: www.lancome.com Each bottle contains 200ml / 6.7 fluid ounces of product. The ingredients are, and not that this means anything to me but may do to people who know they are allergic to certain things like these:- Aqua / Water Methyl Gluceth-20 Poloxamer 184 Ananas Sativus / Ananas Sativus Fruit Extract Sodium Benzoate Peg-32 Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Dihydrocholeth-30 Chlorhexidine Digluconate Propylene Glycol Carica Papaya / Carica Papaya Fruit Extract Methylparaben Parfum / Fragrance On opening the lid, you are greeted with a lovely, femin
ine, flowery smell. The scent is like fresh roses, but it is very light and airy and subtle which is good as I don't like anything I'm putting on my face to be strong or very potently scented. So the first impressions on the appearance and the smell are very promising. It is clearly a perfumed product, and as my skin is not all that sensitive, I don't have problems using perfumed products so I did not have a bad reaction to using this product. However, if you do have sensitive skin or skin that usually reacts badly to perfumed products, then I suggest testing a small area first to see if you have a bad reaction to it. Most stores that sell these products have testers, so you can try a bit in the shop and go home and leave it a day or two to see how your skin reacts to it before buying the product. **How to use** If you have never seen one of those awful adverts I described at the beginning of this op, not only are you one very lucky person to not have had to endure watching an awful advert, but you may be a little unsure as to how to use this product. Never fear, greekspiceuk is here! This is what to do:- 1. Take some cotton wool - I prefer the round cotton wool make up pads to the cotton wool swabs 2. Squirt some of the product on to the cotton wool, I usually use about 2-3 squirts per cotton wool pad 3. Wipe your face all over thoroughly with the cotton wool that has been doused in the product, paying particular attention to cover the T zone (forehead and nose), and the tops of your cheeks and chin or any areas that you are prone to spot or sweat. 4. Look at the cotton wool in disgust at the amount of dirt and grime that has been removed and that was locked deep in your pores, throwing it away lest the nastyness jumps off the cotton wool and burrows back into your pores. 5. Repeat if necessary 6. Marvel at how silky smooth, fresh and beautiful your face feels 7. When any surplus product on your
face has dried, apply your usual face moisturiser cream **Where can you use it?** This product is for use on your face, and unlike some other products of this kind, you can safely use it on your eyes without the fear of your eyes watering, stinging or being badly affected. This is great, as a lot of other cleansers make your eyes water and even make them sting when you do your forehead, nose and cheeks. It is made for removing eye make-up so you know it is safe to go over your eye-lids and around your eye area. **My Experience and Does It Work?** I love this product, no if or buts it is the best cleanser of this type that I have ever used. Now I am working I can afford to spend a little more on products that look after my skin and I don't think twice about spending the money on this - I now see it as a necessary item and using it has become part of my daily routine. My skin feels fresh and looks much better and is soft as a baby's bottom! I have to travel a long way to work and through the rush hour traffic and pollution of the city, my skin is bound to get dirty but I have no worries about it as I know that this cleanser will take away all the dirt and grime of the day. It does not sting, it smells really good and it does what it is meant to do. It removes all my make-up, not that I wear much anyways, except for m mascara - but nothing much removes my mascara anyway except for Vaseline! I've had comments from friends on my skin looking better, clearer and softer. After using it my skin really does feel much cleaner. The subtle scent lingers only just and makes me feel more feminine, miaow! I feel more confident about my skin, as I don't wear much make-up I know that with this product I don't need to worry about that now as my skin is good enough to go without make up. It does not clash with my moisturiser - I have to say this as my friends say that this is important as apparently some pro
ducts clash with others that are not in the same brand or set of products - well whatever this means, I have no problems using this one Lancôme product without using any other matching Lancôme products such as moisturisers or make up, it does not make my skin flare up or give me any bad reactions when I use my normal moisturiser and usual make-up. I use this product as and when I need to, and I have used this sometimes 3 times in one day to keep my skin feeling fresh, clean and soft. I always use a small amount of moisturiser afterwards. My skin has not had any kind of bad reaction to using this more than once a day when I felt my skin has needed freshening up. In fact if my skin feels dull or horrible then using this makes it feel nice again - I always have to use it as soon as I come in from work after battling public transport and pollution for over an hour to get home. I use it after sunbathing to make my skin feel cool and clean. Plus it lasts a long time, I have used it constantly since January and I am only now having to buy another bottle. So use it and your skin will be, in the famous words of a different TV advert - soft as a baby's bottom! The only disappointment is that it is too big to fit in to my handbag so I can't carry it around with me to freshen up when I am out and about. Wait a sec, I've just had a brainwave (can I get arrested for still using this phrase from my school days!?!). I might just trot down to the toiletries travel section in shops... I am thinking of getting a little travel container bottle, like the ones they sell for you to put a little shampoo in to take on short trips away, or a travel perfume bottle; and I will fill it with the cleanser to carry around with me - woohoooo fresh and funky skin on the move! Perfecto for keeping in your handbag to freshen up on or after long flights. Now if only I'd have thought of this before I went on my trip to Cyprus...
Hellish, hellish stuff, this. I'm normally a fan of Lancome stuff, and bought a bottle of this with some make-up, having been assured by the assistant that it was just the gentlest, most effective cleanser money could buy. Ho ho. Problem number one; yes, it does remove most of your make-up, but unfortunately it doesn't budge mascara. I don't wear waterproof stuff, just your common or garden black comes-off-with-water goop, and Eau de Bienfait caused it all to spread around my eyes like coal goggles. It didn't come off; it just moved a bit. Problem number two; after three days using the stuff, I started to develop what looked like leprosy. Fearing for my nose, I offered the rest of the bottle to my Mum, who also went dry and patchy. She gave it to her cleaning lady, who, I believe, uses it to wash windows with. (Better make sure the windows don't have any mascara on them, is all I can say.)
