      amazing

This is the best moisturizer I have ever used. Its non-greasy really light and leaves your skin feeling amazing and soft. You might be having second thoughts about it because it seems a little expensive, but trust me, you use such a small amount that it will last and last and last even if you use it twice a day like I do. I use it in the morning after cleansing as a base for my makeup and at night as my general moisturizer and my skin has never looked better. I have sensitive skin that breaks out at the slightest mention of makeup, but Lancome has never caused an issue for me and is the first brand ever tried that made my skin better rather than worse. My skin is combination and can be a nightmare to get the right product for but this brand has been a savior. With winter coming my skin usually freaks out and has a massive hissy fit like I'm still a teenager, but so far so good and I've got to put this down to the products I'm using. Seriously, I can't say enough that this leaves my skin feeling amazing and it's never looked better. It says its for all skin types and I'd agree that it works for mine, but there might be a few people who won't get on with it. You can probably get a trial size from a Lancome counter in a department store so it's worth giving that a go if you still aren't sure.
overall I'd say give it a go, or get a trial size to test.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      4 stars

I'm not really loyal to one particular brand of skincare. I have my favourites but at the same time, I love to try new products and love nothing better than spoiling myself with a decent moisturiser. Saying that, I've tried lots of moisturisers, mostly by high end brands such as Clinique, Estee Lauder or Lancome. I have found a few cheaper products to work, but mainly favour spending a little bit more, more to treat myself than anything else!!

That said my most recent purchase has been the Hydrazen moisturiser by Lancome. Lancome always gets me when they have the free gifts as I can sample other products I wouldn't usually try, so when an offer came up I bought two products from the hydrazen range, one being the soothing anti-stress moisturiser. My skin usually looks quite dewey and glowing but over recent months I've noticed that it looked tired, and so the anti-stress part of the name tempted me to buy it. I'm dubious to the claims of the anti-stress aspect. I'm sure they don't mean that the moisturiser will de-stress you as a person, and most likely are aiming this aspect at the skin, however I would have preferred for them to use a word like radiant skin or something?

This particular moisturiser is particularly aimed at dry skin, however there are other moisturisers with hydrazen range. One has an SPF 15, there is a day and a night cream, and the extreme moisturiser will provide intense moisturisation.

The subtle scent is difficult to describe and only lingers for a short amount of time after application, but for me it does heighten the experience. One of my favourite moisturisers, is from the Clinique range, but because it is unscented I find it quite boring to apply. A subtle scent always keeps me happy!

Consistency wise, this high concentration moisturiser feels like it's doing a good job the moment it is applied to the face and neck, and it feels silky smooth to the touch once it is has soaked into the skin. It is easily absorbed and doesn't leave a residue on the skin, nor does it clog the pores. I have noticed an improvement in my skin since using this moisturiser more frequently and it certainly has its 'glow' back once again.

The one downfall for this moisturiser, particularly as it's a day moisturiser, is the lack of SPF content within it. For £39, it is something that I would consider essential. Yes, they do have an SPF one, but why not make all of them have SPF? Luckily my current foundation does provide me with such protection, however I hardly lather it all over for the fear of those god awful tide marks around the jawline, so I do wonder how much protection it is actually offering me, and I would have preferred to have had the added benefit within my day moisturiser too.

One criticism of this particular range is the seemingly large amount of very similar products available within it. There is a fluid, 5 different moisturisers (extreme, day, SPF 15, dry skin, night), an eye cream, beauty balm, etc, etc. The day and night cream should obviously be different products, and the beauty balm seems a must for every brand over the last few years, but the SPF, extreme and dry could surely be all rolled into one? I bought my moisturiser at the Lancome counter but was not offered an explanation between the differences, and on Lancomes website it too struggles to know the differences between these products.

The 50ml jar goes a long way despite it being a facial moisturiser, so the £39 outlay will last for months. I got mine just after Christmas and am only just considering replacing it.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

This is horrible face cream to use that is greasy and ineffective

      WHAT IS IT?

Moisturising cream by Lancome.  It says that it will soothe my skin and it is anti stress.

      THE PACKAGING

Hydra Zen comes in a round glass pot that is very heavy, the lid twists off but I am always afraid that I am going to drop the pot when I pick it up because it feels very slippy when I have got wet hands or the greasy cream on my fingers.  I like the shape of the pot because it is wide at the top so I can get my fingers in easy to get some of the very thick pink cream out.

      THE CREAM

Hydra Zen is very thick and greasy feeling, it has got a beautiful fragrance that is a mix of cream and roses.  The fragrance lasts for a long time on my skin and it is so strong that sometimes it makes my perfume smell wrong so when I have used the cream I try and use rose perfume so that I can layer it.

I do not like the texture of the cream because of how oily it is and I think that it takes a long time to sink into my skin also.  When I use it the cream makes my face shiny for quite a long time after and I do not like that because I like my facial skin to have a matt finish.

      WHAT I THINK

I think the effects of using this cream are not very good, it does moisturise my skin but not as much as it should for how greasy it is.  When I have used it for a few days I can feel a difference in how soft my skin is but I still would not say that I am happy with it because it is not a pleasing cream to use on the skin.

I have seen also that the cream separates badly in the pot and gets a different texture then with a greasy watery top layer and the cream goes sloppy, to get it back to normal you have to stir it with your finger and that is not very nice because then it will all get under your finger nail and it is very hard to remove. It should not separate after only a few days and that says that it is not a good quality product even though it is made by a brand like Lancome.

I do not think it is effective enough for me to continue to use it and I have removed it from my price list at work because I had 3 complaints from ladies who said that the cream made their skin greasy and one person even said that it had raised blemishes on her skin because of how rich and clogging it is.

      ANYTHING ELSE

A 50ml pot of this cream costs £39 and that is very bad value because it does not feel nice and is not effective on my skin.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A decent enough moisturiser but gave me a few spots and you can get better for much less money

This moisturiser is one which comes in a heavy glass pot with a screw top lid, as pictured. I think it looks nice but my one concern with this packaging is that it may be a bit unhygienic to be constantly opening the pot, exposing the cream to the air, and putting fingers in there. I would prefer a pump dispenser. However, this is not something that is enough to really put me off.

The moisturiser itself is a very pale pink colour which is quite light in consistency but still feels thicker than some other moisturisers I use. Due to the SPF I experience a slight greasy feeling as I rub it into my skin, however it does absorb quickly without leaving any residue or oiliness. It feels pleasant and gentle to apply, not too thick and claggy, and when applying it I don't feel that it blocks my pores. However unfortunately I do find that this moisturiser is slightly too rich for me, probably due to the SPF and it has occasionally caused me to wake up with a couple of spots after using it at night. It also has a somewhat chemically scent, as it is lightly fragranced with a sort of floral scent. This may also be the cause of why it slightly irritated my skin. I could not actually feel any irritation or discomfort, but I am pretty sure the few spots I got after using this were caused by this, as it happened a few times each time I went back to using it.

Despite the SPF making it a bit too rich for me, as I often find any SPF Will slightly react on my skin, the fact it has it is an advantage in the summer time or all year round for those who do want SPF every day. It does moisturise well and leave my skin feeling soft, moisturised and in good condition.

Overall I would say its a decent but not perfect moisturiser. Personally as it is a fairly high price I won't be rushing to buy it again. Costing about £40 for 50 ml, I would really have to love this before I made it a regular purchase and actually I prefer some other much cheaper moisturisers.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Do not buy

      ==Overview==

You may notice from my reviews that I am a fan of Lancome. They often do free gifts with purchases which allows you to try mini versions of their other products which is how I usually end up buying more of them. Anyway, I was looking for a new moisturiser and got the Lancome Hydra Zen moisturiser in one of the free purchases. This has no sort of anti-ageing in it which was exactly what I wanted, just a normal, moisturiser that sank into my skin....how disappointed I was! 50ml of this bad boy would set you back £38 and I am really glad I didn't buy a full version. It is worth noting that both the mini and full version of this are in very heavy pots so not ideal if you are trying to travel light - a minor point but one I'd want to know about.

      == My opinion==

The cream has a white/pink tinge to it and when I put it on my skin I expected it to rub in nicely and even take a minute or two to sink in properly. However, when I ran my hand over my cheek, there was the moisturiser sitting on top of my skin not even making an attempt to sink in. I rubbed a bit harder and just felt like my face needed washing. I really don't like too much moisturiser on the skin so I really only put a tiny dab on each cheek and on my forehead, yet still it wouldn't rub in. The other thing about it was that it seemed to leave some sort of sheen on my skin. I guess this was to "brighten the complexion" or something but it looked as though I'd wiped a water down version of Benefit Moonbeam (highlighter) on my face. Still the moisturiser wouldn't sink in! I suppose the upside of course is that you don't need much in the way of moisturiser to spread over the skin so your £38 would go a long way but for me, it was way too greasy (and I have dry skin!). It is allegedly ok for all skin types but I seriously wouldn't use this if you have an oily complexion! It didn't break me out in spots or anything like that, it just sat on the surface of my skin.

      ==Overall==

I just can't recommend this product at all. Even if it was a night cream it would be slightly more understandable but as it is a day cream, I don't know what the manufacturers were thinking. I really did not like this product and am glad I got to try it before I bought it. I would avoid!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      not for me

Lancome are a brand i have the utmost respect for. They continually produce great products time after time and i think the experiances i had with their make - up removers left me really excited to try the skin care range. Let me say now however that lancome have really dissapointed me with their hydrazen neurocalm range. The creams are aimed to soothe and calm stressed skin, but i haven't seen this happen to mine. If anything it has gotten worse since using this product.

Before splashing my money out on a huge tub of expensive cream, i bought a sample of ebay and for £7 pound plus postage+packaging i got a small 15ml tub of the night cream and the day cream.

Both creams are thick and white, with a subtle floral scent. After cleaning my face and toning i used the day cream. The day cream spread easily and you didn't need much product. It sunk in fantastically and made my normally dry skin very soft and subtle. The night cream was exactly the same and i really liked the effect it had on my skin. I woke up and my skin felt bright and glowy.

However a week after using the product (and note this is the only skin care change i made recently) my dry skin became even dryer, to the point where it was visibily peeling along my cheek bones. I reached for my night cream to soothe my damaged skin, and i found that the product was actually stinging my skin. Thinking it was a one off, i tried to continue to use the night cream but my skin continued to sting and peel away.

I tried to do some research but lancome do not provide an ingrediants list on their website / in store to be able to find out what exactly is in it that is stinging my skin. I feel that lancome have really messed up somewhere when a product that is designed to calm skin aggrevated mine. Obviously skin care is subjective but if you have dry skin that is prone to sensitivity on occasion this is not for you.

I'm very glad it was only a sample size, and i definately will not be buying the full sized product.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Totally worth the price. Helps to hydrate the skin especially in harsh conditions

There are not many things that I splash my cash on however hydrazen Neurocalm soothing anti stress moisturizing cream is one thing that I will not give up. I have been using this moisturizer for about a year and have really seen a difference in the condition of my skin. I will admit that the cream does have a larger price tag than some high street brand creams but I would rather pay a little more for something I really feel works.

The cream itself does have a floral scent but this is not overpowering and once the cream has been applied you are no longer able to smell the cream. The cream is white and is thick in it's texture, however although the cream is quiet thick it is in no way heavy or greasy and does not leave an oily texture.

I apply the cream after using a lancome face wash. You do not need a large amount of face cream which ensures that the pot of cream you have bought will last longer. The cream spreads evenly and absorbs quickly into the skin. After applying the cream your skin feels soft and smooth to touch. There is enough moisture in the cream to feed dry skin but not too much to leave skin greasy.

In regards to the price of the cream as I have already mentioned I understand that it can be out of some peoples price range at £37 for 50mls but there are a wide range of offers on in stores such as Debenhams. At Christmas I bought a gift set which included the hydrazen neurocalm soothing anti stress moisturizing cream. This worked out as a much better deal. Also if you bought two lancome products you received a free gift which included a small hydrazen cream. Due to only needing a small amount of cream each time you use it the 50 ml jar will last you about 2 months.

I am a huge fan of Lancome products and am always keen to try out any of there products. This is because I feel that you get what you pay for and The cream is well worth the money

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not a product I will be buying due to the price but it is really good

Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm Soothing Anti-stress Moisturising Cream (SPF15)

I have had this product for about a month or so now and I won this product in a Debenhams Beauty club competition along with other Lancome products, so I did not buy this. I haven't really tried a lot of Lancome products before as they are fairly expensive. I have only have a few makeup items from Lancome, I have never bought any skin care products as my skin is sensitive due to my eczema.

        - About the product and packaging

The cream comes in tub which is white in colour and it has a really pretty luminescent, metallic pink lid. The tub I have is the 50ml size (which I think is the only size available) and it is fairly large and it is also really quite heavy, which makes it feel really expensive in my opinion. This product states that it is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive so it is great that I received this one as a prize. Overall, I like the packaging as it looks nice and expensive but I don't like that the cream is in a tub. The tub container is not very hygienic in my opinion as you have to put your fingers in it, which means that some little bits can get into the cream - so I have been using a mini spatula. I think it would be better if this cream was in a tube or pump dispenser type of container instead, as it would be a lot more hygienic. This product also comes with an instruction/information leaflet in various languages.

        - Lancome description

"The power of strong protection, ultimate soothing and continuous moisture. Skin feels soft, plumped up with moisture and radiant. All women know that everyday life can be stressful and dehydrating for skin. External aggressions such as the wind and air-conditioning can alter skin quality and cause dehydration." Lancome UK site

        - Consistency, texture, scent and appearance of the product

The product is a cream which is really thick in consistency so I thought that it would be difficult to apply and absorb but it has a velvety smooth texture, so it is easy to apply and it absorbs fairly quickly. I like the texture and consistency of this product and I also like the scent of the product. I don't think everyone would like their skin care products to be scented, especially individuals with sensitive skin, but the rose/floral scent of this product is really nice in my opinion - although I do think it would be better if the product was unscented. The cream is not the normal cream/white colour but it is a light pink colour, which I like as it is a bit unusual.

        - Using the product

Before I use this product I wash my face with my Avene gentle cleanser which is amazing for sensitive skin and it does not irritate my skin at all! After I have cleansed or exfoliated my skin (I am currently using the clinique 7 days facial scrub, which is great) I then pat my face dry and apply this moisturiser. I use a mini spatula (that did not come with this product) to get out a small amount of the cream as I don't really like to out my fingers into products like this as even with clean hands you could still put bits into the cream. I only use about a small pea sized amount of this product, you really do not need a lot, as a little goes a long way. I apply the cream to the back of my hand so I can then take even smaller amounts of the cream and apply specific amounts of cream certain areas - as some areas are drier than others. I then gently massage the cream into my skin, which takes less than one minute and that is it. I really like the application of this product as it applies so smoothly to my skin and it has a really nice velvety texture.

        - Results and the longevity of the effects

I really like the results of this product, as soon as I apply the cream to my face it instantly makes my skin feel incredibly velvety smooth and so soft which I do not have all of the time due to my eczema that flares up every few months or so. So a moisturiser that makes my skin, even when I have eczema, really velvety smooth is just fantastic. As the moisturiser makes my skin really smooth and soft it means that it makes a great base for my foundation and other make up items. The only negative point about this product in terms of the effects on my skin is that it can sometimes irritate my skin slightly when my eczema flares up but most of the time it does not really irritate my skin. The longevity of the smoothing, softening and moisturising effects of the cream is really good, as my skin looks and feels moisturised for most of the day. But by the end of the day, as my skin is extremely dry, the moisturising effect will have worn off.

        - Overall opinion and would I buy this product?

Overall, I am very impressed with this product mainly as it makes my skin so incredibly velvety smooth, soft and moisturised for the majority of the day. It also makes my skin smell like roses, which I like, but others may not like that this product is scented. I find that after using this product I can experience some irritation but this is only when my eczema flares up and the irritation only lasts for a couple of minutes. The positives of this product out weight the negatives but not by much as the effect of the product are fantastic but it can irritate my skin very slightly and it is fairly expensive but you do only need a small amount of cream each time you use this product (which for me is twice a day). I do not think I would buy this product unless it was on sale as it is fairly expensive but it is a great moisturiser in my opinion.

        - Price and availability

I received this product along with five others as I won a Debenhams beauty club competition a couple of months ago, so I did not buy this product. But this moisturiser can be bought from Sebenhams, the Lancome official UK site (link at the end) and Boots for £37, which is fairly expensive in my opinion. You may also be able to find this product or a sample of it from eBay.

        Conclusions

        Positives

*Easy to apply and it absorbs fairly quickly into my skin
*Scent is really nice - it smells like roses! But some people may not like skin care products to be scented
*This cream has a thick consistency and a velvety smooth texture which makes applying the cream really nice and easy too
*This product makes my skin so soft and the smoothest it has been in a while and it contains an SPF of 15
*Really nice packaging although it has some flaws in my opinion
        *Fairly widely available

        Negatives

*It is fairly expensive at £37
*This product did irritate my skin slightly
*The tub container design is not very hygienic and a tube container would be better and more hygienic in my opinion

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Keeps its promise!

I've never really been one to mositurise or use moisturisers as a huge skincare regime, but decided a while ago that i wanted a high quality mosituriser as my skin type has become somewhat dry over the past 6 months or so, and can get flaky around my nose at times which is definetly not attractive! I didn't want to buy a cheap, or unbranded product though, as i have to be careful when buying moisturisers as i don't want a product that will be useless to my skin type.

After reading reviews and watching youtube review videos on this particular moisturising product, i decided i wanted to try it, as my skin has always been very sensetive and dry. After finding out the price though, i couldn't bring myself to spend my hard earned cash on just one cosmetic product, which at £37 certianly is a luxury item.

After weeks of alot of moaning and nagging about how fed up i was with how dry my skin is and how i have no money to ever buy myself nice stuff, my lovely boyfriend bought me a £25 Boots gift card and told me to 'indulge' myself because i deserved it. Result! :-)

I had my mind made up that the Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm Moisturiser was the product i was after, due to the brilliant reviews i'd seen on Youtube, but wasn't entirely sure if Boots sold this particular item, so instead of wondering arounding aimlessly, asked an assistant, who kindly guided me to it.

The 50ml tub has Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm written on the front so it was clear that this was the product i was in search of, so i had a good look, read the brief product description (which states it is an anti-stress, soothing moisturising cream) on the tub and decided to buy it. The cream is £37, and as i had my £25 gift voucher, i only had to pay £12 towards it which was nice.

The cream is honestly lovely. The tub has a posh, elegant feel to it and the cream smells pleasent enough with an extremely slight perfumey undertone which gives the skin a nice subtle smell.

The consistency reminds me of a thick, smooth greek yoghurt and applying it is extremely easy, relaxing and pleasent to do so as it cools, refreshes and soothes the skin. I've found a small scoop with 2 or 3 finger tips will cover the whole of my face so the product doesn't run out ridiciously quick. Although the cream is thick, once applied and spread evenly it's nice and lightweight and sinks into the skin without effort.

My experiences have been great and after 1 month and a half of daily use, my skin feels alot less dry and has a silky smooth feel and i've found my face looks healthy and more radiant. As mentioned before, my skin is very sensetive and i've had no trouble what so ever with this product - no itching or redness which is the best thing about it! I will definetly consider buying another tub once this one's run out (just over half a tub left), as i feel it did everything it claimed to do.

My one criticism is the various forms this concept cream comes in; there's a day cream, night cream, cream fluid, fluid cream, cream gel, gel essence and a tinted moisturiser, and the official website isn't very specific about the differences between.

If it wasn't for the price, i'd give the product 5/5.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A cream that lightens up the dull beauty regime!

I normally try to stay clear off designer cosmetics as the heafty pricetag is often only matched by the amount of perfume (and therefore potential skin irritation) they put in their creams! However, this Lancome classic is worth trying for those who like to pamper their skin.

I usually tailor my day and night creams to my skin type (oily) but this cream is an exception. It blends quite easily and does not leave a residue. So even though it obviously doesn't reduce shinyness (my main concern with day cream) I love using this one! This light texture makes it usable by any skin type, from dry to oily (my mum has a very dry skin but swears by it!).

It also does make my skin souple and soft and really makes it feel more "relaxed". It is no cure for a stressful lifestyle or uneven skintone (the most common consequence of stress on skin) but it makes the beauty routine a real moment of pleasure.

However, because this cream does not matify my skin (indispensable in the morning for me) I use it at night. I know there is the night cream version but I actually prefer using the day cream because it has a lighter texture. There is nothing better after a long day at the office to just clean my face and put on that cream to feel beautiful again!

The only downsize with this cream is the pricetag.... Which is why I only buy it as a treat once in a while, when there is a boots point promotion or something. On the plus side, it does last for a while as you do not need a big amount for each use.

Overall a cream that is all about the pleasure of putting something that feels and smells good on your skin after a stressful day (or to start the day well). A bit of indulgence in a luxury pot!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Good moisturiser which does calm sensitve skin

Unfortunately I am cursed with sensitive skin so like to keep a lookout for suitable moisturiser. Lancome is one of those brands that I keep coming back to. Hydrazen is lovely and light so doesn't feel heavy on my skin and sinks in easily. It doesn't irritate my skin and seems to give it the right level of moisture it requires. I have been using it since April and my skin does feel nice and soft although my stress levels are still high so perhaps my skin hasn't had the full benefit of the "anti-stress" ingredients. To be fair unless they are giving away a massage with the moisturiser it's probably the best I can get at the moment!

One thing I do not like is the packaging. The container is a heavy glass jar which has the usual trick of being far bigger on the outside than the inside. This means that not only are you disappointed with the real size it is also no use for travelling unless you put it into a different container.

            Disadvantages

            Highly recommended

A really pleasant cream for skin that is under stress for whatever reason. It came as a great shock to me when I discovered that my skin was changing whilst I went through a particularly stressful time; drier skin, more spots, less absorbent, more prone to flaking and resistant to moisturisers - most (cheaper) products simply stayed on the surface and sort of formed clumps but Hydra Zen was absorbed with the final effect of keeping my skin in good order throughout this time. Now that my stress is over and my skin is fine I still use this wonderful cream regularly. It has a lovely consistency that feels rather indulgent and a light fragrance which like the cream itself has an anti stress quality, thinks flowers on a summer day. The packaging is the usual Lancome signature although a more conical style which makes it easier to get out the very last bit even with long nails!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

I won't be wasting my money buying this for myself

As someone is almost always stressed out, this moisturiser seemed like a great choice. I did not buy it personally (and probably never would given that it is Lancome and undoubtedly way out of my price range!) as I was given it as a gift.

            ***The Cream***
The cream itself is white and looks like most other moisturisers. When I apply it to my skin, it soaks in quite easily but takes around eight minutes to feel as though it is properly dry so that I can put my usual make-up on over the top. It isn't greasy, so putting make-up on over the top isn't a difficult process.

            ***The Results***
To be honest, my skin does not really look or feel any different after using this for a while. It is true that my skin feels well moisturised, but this is also the case after having used some much cheaper moisturisers so I would more than likely resent the price tag on this one! It looks a little more radiant but I have just started using a new cleanser/toner, so I am not really sure which product has had this effect. The main selling point will probably be the anti-stress qualities that it is supposed to have, but I haven't experienced this personally. I feel no different in terms of my emotional balance so this was disappointing and I would feel rather cheated if I had shelled out for this and not got the desired result.

            ***The Price***
According to the Lancome website, this will set you back £34.50 although this may well vary depending on where you actually buy it from. I doubt that I will be buying this for myself as I don't feel that the overall results are enough to justify the price. If I am going to be spending £35 on a single item, I want it to do an absolutely amazing job on my skin, and this hasn't been the case so far.
