I use the cleanser version of this and that is certainly amazing, and so I thought that this, being in the same range should have the same effect and compliment my cleansing routine.
I was a little disappointed when I first used this, the effects were not as dramatic as I expected, to be fair, my skin did look brighter, but only by a little and that's if I desperately look for 'that difference'. My skin does perhaps look a little brighter but I'm a little concerned whether it was the amount of alcohol in it had just stripped some of my skin, just like the other alcoholic toners that I've used from other premium brands.
There is a fresh feeling on the skin after using it, but my skin did start to go red on the areas I had applied it! So, I would say, this is definitely not good for sensitive skins. The redness did go down after a few minutes, so in comparison, you could say that this toner is slightly gentler and less harsh than it seems despite it containing alcohol.
It doesn't come cheap, so it you have a better choice, it may be better to give this one a miss. Lancôme actually do another toner which doesn't have alcohol in and I find it so much better and I get better results from it. It may just be a case of skin type issues, so it might be good for you if you have non-sensitive skin and need something to brighten up dull skin. But having said that, the cleanser version of this does the same thing with better results, so I would recommend to use that instead.
I had never myself used Lancome products until I got a beautiful large gift set for Christmas last year from my mother in law. I had always seen it as a classy, top quality brand, but just didn't feel like I had reached the age to use it yet. That all changed as soon as I tried some of the products and fell in love with them! Oh how my purse hates me for it now!
One of the products I was lucky enough to try in the gift set was this, Lancome Tonique Eclat. Roughly translated as Toner!
The product itself comes in a rounded, slightly oval bottle. It is made of clear plastic, from which you can see the blue product inside.
The lid is a flip on and off lip, and once flipped off gives way to a small hole, out of which you can squeeze the product. Seeing as the bottle is quite thick plastic, it is quite hard to squeeze the right amount ouit, and at these prices you don't really want to waste any product, so it takes a little practise. You don't really need to use very much though. A tiny bit seems to cover my face and do a good job.
The toner doesn't sting or hurt my skin like some toners do. It is cold and very soothing. It makes my skin feel cleaner and smoother after use. It also gives it a bit of a glossy glow, which I do not get if I do not use this product.
Price wise, if you buy this from a department store, beauty counter, you can expect to pay just below £20. I don't really have that sort of money so I shop around and often end up buying unwanted gifts on ebay. This can bring the price down by as much as half. I have to do a lot of looking around and there is quite a bit of patience involved, but for me to be able to afford premium products it is definitely worth it.
I love lancome products, especially their skincare ranges but this product I found a bit disappointing.
It's quite expensive, it costs £20.00 for 200ml or £32.50 for 400ml. I have the 400ml bottle and it's huge, it would easily last 6 months to a year of everyday use.
This toner claims to be for all skin types, and I have fairly normal skin but I definitely would not recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin.
The toner itself is blue in colour and smells quite nice it's a strong smell, but still quite pleasant.
The main issue I have with this toner is that as soon as I put it on my skin, it stings, not just a small tingle a real sting. It's really quite painful, it only lasts a couple of seconds but I really don't like it. It doesn't make my skin red, like you expect after the stinging sensation, and I don't know if toners are supposed to sting like that, but I find it really unpleasant.
It does leave your skin feeling a bit softer and cleaner but I'm sure I have had other toners which have a better effect and don't cause that much pain.
For rather an expensive product I would rather it wasn't an unpleasant experience when I used it.
