“ Brand: Lush / Type: Face Mask / Suitable for: Face / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I used to buy this face mask on a regular basis from my local Lush but I can't seem to find it anywhere now. Where has it gone? The face mask cost around £5 at the time and it was presented in a standard Lush pot. I used to purchase it when it was a 100g pot but Lush later changed the size of the pot to 75ml and knocked a few pence off the purchase price. The face mask was dark green in colour and it smelt quite fresh and invigorating. It smelt a little like seaweed, however it wasn't off putting. I actually liked the scent. Plus when it was on the face it changed to a sort of herbally scent. It was best kept in the fridge and it had a life of three weeks. The mask took around five minutes to fully dry, although I used to leave it on my face for around fifteen minutes to give it time to soak in and get to work on my skin. After use my face felt cleansed and smooth. The mask was easy to remove as it just washed away with warm water. It didn't irritate my skin and it helped to reduce the amount of spots and blemishes that appeared on my skin. I really do miss this face mask. It was simple and effective and 100% natural too. Plus it wasn't tested on animals either. A decent face mask that has since disappeared!
Like most people on the planet it seems, I can't get away from the fact that when I'm looking for a good toiletry that it really is worth taking a look in Lush to see what they can offer. I am not a big fan of going into the Lush shop because I find the smell of the shop pretty overpowering, but the individual products are obviously much less subtle. The Lush Coolie-O Face Mask is one of my preferred products from Lush, although I haven't used it recently because it seems that the Lush shop in Cheltenham has stopped selling this particular product for the time being. I think this is a shame because as a face mask this really works and, for me personally, it's just what I look for when buying a face pack. However, if your local Lush does sell Lush Coolie-O Face Mask then it is going to cost you around £5.15 for 100g.......which isn't a great price and like most of Lush products it is fairly expensive......but I found 100g would give me about 5 face masks, and looked at it this way then it's only around a pound a punt. This comes in an unremarkable Lush type pot with a plastic lid that flips on and off. It really does need to be kept in the fridge, otherwise it dries out very quickly and starts to look like something I wouldn't want to put on my face anyway. It is a very dark green - and it is the type of thing that would frighten your neighbours if you slapped this on your face and then wandered around so everyone can see you......so keep the curtains drawn!! It smells very much like seaweed and lavender.....not an unpleasant smell, but not one that I would get over excited about sniffing either. To use the product, you wash your face and then you generously apply this to your face and neck, taking efforts to avoid your eyes. It's fairly thick and so you really have no choice but to apply it generously, but having said that, it is smooth and without big lumps and so a little does go a fairly long way. Once on, I would say that the overwhelming sensation is of coolness and refreshment. It's certainly a mask which revitalises more than it relaxes - and it becomes very clear early on that there is cucumber in this product because it cools the skin in the way that only cucumber based products tend to. It does dry out on my face once it's been on for about 5 minutes or so and it starts to feel a bit uncomfortable and tight as it dries, but I try to make it to ten minutes before rinsing it off. In order to get the product off of my face, I scrape most of it off with tissues first - and then I rinse well. It comes up quite easily. When I've rinsed it off, my skin does feel nicely refreshed, clean and moisturised. I've found that if I use this every few days before an important event (like a wedding!) then my skin is in it's best condition and it feels and looks about as radiant as it every feels and looks. It's also something that I tend to use when I've finished a run of night shifts because it revitalises and makes me feel a little more human. I recommend this product....if you can find it!
