Lush's Brazened Honey Face Mask
Can I just start this review by saying...Yum, yum, yummy. Lush's brazened honey face mask has got to be one of my all time favourite Lush scents. It's divine and that's only the smell.
In the past I have been a huge fan of Lush's hair care products, which started me onto the path of trying a bit of everything Lush have to offer. Lush's Brazened Honey is the first Lush face mask I have tried and I can't believe it's taken me this long to try them.
What Lush say: "It's hard to stick to all the rules. Eight hours sleep a night, two litres of water a day, plenty of exercise, five fruit and veg etc. This mask is for when you have overdone things and let the rules slide. A detox to get tired and dull skin back to being radiant and glowing"
I've already mentioned the fragrance but let me go into more detail other than...yum. The face mask is packed with fresh ingredients that really work well together, it's a mix of ginger, lime, rosemary, sage, juniper berry, fennel, ground almond, coriander, honey and ground cardamom. I'm sure there are some other ingredients involved in the making of the face mask but I just wanted to highlight the range of products used to create one of the best fragrances lush have to offer. The face mask has a really fresh strong fragrance that really has to be sniffed to appreciate.
If I'm totally honest the Brazened Honey face mask is not the easiest product to apply, it's chunky, it's thick and it just doesn't want to smooth out nicely. But with a little persistence it is easy to get a good coverage. When you first apply the face mask it really is the scent that stands out but I also like the cold texture (thanks to it begin stored in the fridge - as recommended by Lush). When it has just been applied the face mask is rather soft but give it some time and it will begin to dry out and harden, but it never gets too tight or dry. Personally I usually find that I leave the mask on from anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes. The last time I used it I had the face mask on for about 15 minutes before I washed it off and even at the 15 minute mark I could still smell it nearly as clearly as when I first applied it. Also this is a great face mask to use while in the bath!
As well as applying it can also be a bit tricky to wash the Brazened Honey face wash off because it is such a thick face mask. However, having said that as you apply water to the face mask it becomes lovely and soft allowing you to give your face a good wash and slight exfoliate before all the product has been removed. Personally, I do find that it's far easier and less messy to wash the face mask off in the shower than stood over the sink.
After the face mask has been washed off, my skin is left feeling smoother, freshers and softer, as well as looking clearer and all around in a better condition. I am really fond of the brazened honey face mask, it smells great and leaves my skin feeling cleansed but not at all dried out. I do have a normal skin type, and I personally think that this face mask would probably suit most skin types, but if you are unsure you could always ask for a small sample to try at home or ask one of the lovely Lush store assistants.
The Brazened Honey face mask is available at most Lush stores or online for around £5.95 for a 75 gram little black pot. But you have to make sure you use it all up within three weeks to get the most from the active ingredients. However, I have never found this to be a problem. It is an expensive face mask but I do find that for my money I get about five or six applications, which is about two a week for the recommended time to use the face mask. Personally, I think that the Brazened Honey face mask is a lovely treat for your senses and your skin.
Overall, Lush's Brazened honey face mask definitely gets a full five out of five stars from me.
Summary: Five out of five stars
