Advantages: Effective, good value, natural ingredients
Disadvantages: None
Brazened honey is one of my favourite ever Lush face masks ever - I absolutely love it! I usually get a pot of it once every couple of months as a little treat and I bought my most recent pot of it a couple of weekends ago. A 75 gram pot retails at £5.95 which I know seems quite expensive but the pot comes full to the brim with product and I'm usually able to get at least two uses out of it so it works out as quite good value. While there are much cheaper alternatives available, I personally am happy to pay a little extra for this because it is so effective - and it smells incredible!
It's also made from 99 percent natural ingredients (the 1% synthetic ingredient being perfume) and none of the ingredients are tested on animals, which is always an advantage in my opinion. Lush say that this is a deep cleaning detox mask which gets tired and dull skin back to being radiant and glowing. As I juice regularly and eat very healthily, my skin is in reasonably good condition, although it does tend to get quite dry which can make it look dull so this is why I usually choose this mask over the others - it really does leave my skin glowing!!
The ingredients are all fresh and incredibly nourishing and full of goodness. I won't list all of them as there are so many, but the ingredients includes a range of herbs, ginger root, lime juice, honey, almond oil and even some spice! It also has eggs in the ingredients, which I am aware may be a disadvantage for some people, however I'm a Vegan and am still happy to use the mask - plus the eggs are free range, so there's no way that Lush are supporting battery farms. All of the ingredients are combined into a thick, lumpy paste which resembles a yellow pot of porridge.
It has a very rich, thick consistency with a reasonably smooth texture, although there are a lot of tiny bits of almond which are supposed to gently exfoliate the skin. As this is a fresh face mask and free of any preservatives, I always keep mine in the fridge so that it doesn't start going off or smelling funny and it feels amazingly refreshing straight out of the fridge and onto my skin. The face mask should be used within 3 weeks. I always apply this when I'm in the bath after I've washed my hair so that I can lay back and relax. I always make sure that my hair is tied back to avoid any lumps of it getting in my hair and I find the face mask easy to apply to my skin despite how thick the paste is.
I rub it in circular motions as I apply it to get the benefits from the exfoliating almonds and leave it on for at least ten minutes. It feels a little strange at first because of the bits of almond in it and it can feel quite heavy on my face but I soon got used to it. While relaxing in the bath the scent is quite strong, but really nice. It definitely won't be to everyones' taste, but I personally like it - it's a sweet and herbal scent which is suitable for men as well as women. As the mask dries it can crack and flake a little, but not excessively so.
It takes a little effort to remove it as it really dries and sticks to my skin but once it's off the effects are instantly noticeable. My skin always feels really moisturised as well as soft and smooth after using it and it looks much healthier too - glowy with no dry patches. I haven't noticed any reduction in blackheads from using this but I've noticed that it dries any spots up and leaves my skin feeling really clean and fresh. I've not experienced any nasty reactions/irritation from using it, either. Overall, this is an amazing face mask and I highly recommend it. I give it a well deserved five out of five stars.
Summary: 5/5
