      Fantastic, great smelling facial cleanser!

This is one of my favourite Lush cleansers. Mainly for the gorgeous popcorn scent, but also because it is great for most skin types and most skin days! This was originally a Christmas special edition, but the customers loved it so much (who wouldn't?!) that they've kept it around! Full of lovely, natural ingredients like maize flour, corn oil, polenta and cinnamon powder, this cleanser exfoliates and leaves your skin fresh and clean and moisturised. It makes a fantastic leave on treatment and is gentle enough to use daily. The maize flour and polenta help control shine and gently buff, whilst the cinnamon powder does the same and brightens your skin. Other gorgeous ingredients moisturise and leave your skin soft. All whilst smelling beautiful and good enough to eat. The best part is that there is also a lip scrub with the exact same scent that you CAN eat, so your whole face can smell delicious.

      a lovely popcorn cleanser

*~Let The Good Times Roll~* Let The Good Times Roll is face and body cleanser which Lush release as part of their Christmas range. This cleanser is presented in a little black pot with the important product information presented in a simple and no-fuss way. Lush claim that this cleanser will 'gently exfoliate, moisturise and soften your skin'. This cleanser is made from fresh ingredients and is free from preservatives and is vegan friendly. It is best used fresh and my pot had a 3 month best before date on it. This cleanser contains a small selection natural ingredients including glycerine, maize flour, corn oil, polenta, gardenia extract, popcorn, talc, water and cinnamon powder. It also contains perfume. Let The Good Times Roll carries a popcorn fragrance and there is a matching lip scrub available in this flavour. As far as I am aware, this is suitable for all skin types but if you have allergies to the above ingredients then it would be best to avoid using this product. *~Price and Availability~* Let The Good Times Roll is available in store or from www.lush.co.uk at the following prices : *100g - £6.35 *250g - £15.87 If you return five of the black pots, you will receive a free face mask from Lush. *~My Thoughts~* I was quite interested in purchasing this cleanser last year but kept putting it off by reasoning with myself that I would be able to make another pre-Christmas visit to Lush in Glasgow. Well, to cut a long story short, I forgot! Anyway, I was pleased to see that Lush had brought this back for 2013 and bought a 100g pot. I didn't want to risk buying the bigger pot as it may not have suited my skin so I played it safe. Having used this for the past four weeks, I feel in a position to discuss my thoughts on this cleanser. I mainly bought this to use as a face cleanser as I own so many body scrubs/cleansers. I have, however, tried this as both a face and body cleanser so can discuss both aspects of this product. On opening the pot, I am greeted with a thick blob of what, to me, looks like thick, golden porridge. It reminds me a bit of the consistency of the Lush face masks too. The smell of this cleanser as absolutely divine. If you aren't keen on sweet scents then avoid but I personally love the rich, buttery popcorn scent offered by this cleanser. Others may find the scent off putting as it is incredibly sweet and sticky smelling. All down to personal choice at the end of the day. I found this cleanser to be very easy to use. As it is an exfoliating cleanser as opposed to a liquid cleanser, I didn't feel the need to use it on a daily basis. I opted to use it every two - three days in the morning followed up by a moisturiser if I was going out the house. Lush recommend scooping a small amount of the cleanser on to the palm of your hand and massage it in to a paste using a small amount of water. You should then apply the paste to your skin before rinsing off with warm water. My skin is dry and sensitive so I need to be careful what I use on it. This cleanser has proven to be gentle on my skin and hasn't caused any irritation or discomfort for me. Only a small piece of cleanser is needed for my face and the cleanser feels very squidgy and moist when I pull a piece off the blob. I add a little water and with very little effort, the cleanser can be mixed in to a soft, gritty paste. Rubbing the paste across my face, I experience a gentle and slightly tickly exfoliating experience. The gritty particles in this cleanser aren't harsh but I can feel them exfoliating my skin gently. The paste is slightly oily which protects my skin from the scrubby bits. The popcorn scent makes this experience much more pleasant as the aroma is so indulgently sweet. I found the paste also felt very cool and fresh on my skin and moreso if the cleanser has been kept in the fridge before using it. I only spend a minute or so rubbing this cleanser across my face. It rinses off well with warm water but I have to keep reminding myself to clip my hair back as the paste clings to strands of hair and is a nightmare to remove. Once I have patted my skin dry, I am impressed by the results of this cleanser. Not only does my skin feel soft, smooth and free from roughness, it also looks bright and healthy. I normally apply a small layer of face cream as my skin is really dry but if you have normal skin, you may find that this cleanser alone provides enough moistursation to last through the day. The sweet scent of popcorn lingers for a short while and the results are long lasting. My skin is smooth on the surface, feels clean and looks good. Whenever I choose to use this in the evening, I find that it removes any deep down grit and make up from my skin effortlessly. Buying Let The Good Times Roll to use solely as a body cleanser/exfoliation may work out rather expensive. I tend to use this on smaller areas of skin that need exfoliated and cleansed rather than all over. It does remind me a little of Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub due to the sweet scent but it is less scrubby than this. I have used it on my elbows and knees as these areas are really rough. It works a treat at gently buffing away the rough patches and leaving these areas smooth and sweet scented. It is definitely a dual-use product. *~Final Thoughts~* I really like this face and body cleanser as there is a good balance between exfoliating, cleansing and softening properties. It smells amazing too and leaves my skin with a healthy glow. It is gentle for use on my sensitive skin and I am glad that I bought the 100g pot as I still have lots left despite regular use for four weeks. I doubt I could use a 250g pot up over the course of three months unless I was using it all over my body rather than just my face and some smaller areas on my body. It represents good value for money and has proven to be a hit with me so I can highly recommend it. Thanks for reading :)

I do prefer Buche de Noel

If you read my reviews regularly, you won't be surprised to hear that Lush is one of my favourite stores. Among their other interesting products, they make a skincare range, including some limited edition Christmas items. Normally at Christmas I stick with my beloved Buche de Noel. However, I liked the description of the Let the Good Times Roll cleanser, and this along with several positive reviews encouraged me to buy it. LTGTR cost £5.95 and was suitable for vegans. Made with an interesting mix of ingredients, including Maize flour, glycerine, talc, water, corn oil, polenta, cinnamon powder, gardenia extract and popcorn, it was pale brown in colour and smelled gorgeous - like caramel popcorn. LTGTR came in a pot, so it was easy to use. I stuck to using my normal cream cleanser at night, and saved this for the morning when I was in the shower. To use, I took a pea-sized amount and rubbed it into my palm with a little water to make a paste, before rubbing it over my face and rinsing off. I loved the smell of this cleanser, and it was very gentle on my sensitive skin. It had a very light scrubby texture, and I found my skin felt smoother when I was using it, although it wasn't harsh at all. In general, I loved using the cleanser - my pot lasted a few months, as I only needed to use a small amount at any one time, and it seemed good for my skin. However, my skin is slightly oily and I think this cleanser is best suited to drier skin. I preferred using Buche de Noel for this reason, as I don't think LTGTR controlled my shine as well as I would like. This is a lovely cleanser and I do recommend it, but there are others I prefer. It isn't available any more, but it was extremely popular and received glowing reviews so I wouldn't be surprised if it came back for Christmas 2013.

A lovely gentle cleanser from Lush full of natural ingredients

This was brought out specifically for Christmas last year 2012 and it was so popular that Lush agreed to let it stay and become a regular. It is similar to my favourite Lush facial cleansers 'Angels on Bare skin' but instead of having the exfoliating ingredient of ground almonds this has ground corn or maize. I will never stop buying 'Angels' but this one now alternates with 'Angels' as part of my cleansing routine for my face as i try and save it from aging too fast. Since I have been using either one or other of Lush's lovely natural cleansers and exfoliators regularly I have found that my skin on my face is far more balanced than before. I usually choose Lush products for older, dry and lined skin as I am of that age and so when I was in Lush asking advice on which cleanser to buy but I was tempted by this one when I saw it . I asked for a sample but after trying it I bought a pot then when they had the half price sale after Christmas I bought another because I had given away quite a bit of mine to various family member in small sample pots so my original pot was getting low. WHAT LUSH SAY Fresh Cleanser "A Maize In, gentle facial wash We popped corn oil, polenta, maize flour and cinnamon in here. The perfect recipe to gently exfoliate, moisturise and soften your skin for those times when you want to get ready for close-ups. Let The Good Times Roll is a gentle treat for the skin, leaving you soft to the touch with a lingering buttery caramel popcorn fragrance - when you look and feel this good you can give your Body Double the day off.." MY EXPERIENCE This fresh cleanser is a rich buttery colour and smells absolutely lovely, a bit like a custard cream biscuit only stronger. It looks like a thick deep custard coloured mix, a bit like polenta uncooked. It feels slightly sandy in texture but very fine and there are the odd bits of pop corn visible in the mix so presumably some of the maize is b ground un popped and some popped. The feel is slightly sandy as I said but damp, a bit like the polenta mix un cooked and it is easy to take a pea sized piece, squash it in your hand with your finger and make a paste with some water then use this to gently massage into your face before rinsing off with warm water. This usually costs £5.95 for a pot and the usual thing applies if you buy this in the black pot, if you wash it and return five of them you can choose a free fresh mask or hair mask which I think is a great incentive to encourage people not to just throw these pots away. As I said this fresh cleanser is designed for those with normal or dry skin but can really be used by anyone as it is suitable for all skin types. This cleanser like the other fresh facial cleansers is preservative free and Vegan friendly and is full of quality natural ingredients. I love the smell of this as the maize and other ingredients combine to smell gloriously vanilla caramel custard- like. HOW DOES IT HELP MY SKIN? This face cleanser exfoliator is created from ground maize flour, polenta, corn oil,and lovely cinnamon which is great for stimulating the skin. The ingredients exfoliate, stimulate and nourish the skin perfectly, naturally and gently. As my skin tends to be a bit sensitive I try not to treat it too harshly and this is just perfect. It exfoliates with gentle ground maize and polenta which do not dry the skin and the corn oil nourishes the skin. The cinnamon is great for cleaning and stimulating the face skin which also helps the skin balance the oil or sebum production. The kaolin will help absorb excess grease. Exfolaiting helps to clear away dead, dry skin and leaves my face feeling and looking fresher and brighter. Glycerine helps to soften the skin to make it ready to absorb the gentle oils . These ingredients all help the facial skin balance so that if you have a combination skin this is perfect. It will enable the dry areas to absorb the beneficial oils and reduce the oil on the greasier areas. Although this looks a a bit like a yellow paste and not that least exciting it is a product that I will be buying again regularly as it is so good. It is not a harsh scrub at all it is actually quite a gentle exfoliant but even so do not rub your face while using this, just gently massage this over the oily parts of your face. HOW TO USE THIS The idea is that you take a small amount, just a bit bigger than a pea and put this in one hand. Add a little water and with a finger rub this into the palm of your hand until you have a softish paste . This wet soft paste is what you use to cleanse your face. I very gently, using just a little water rub this into my face in a circular and upward motion. You don't need to rub hard just really gently massage your face with this and then rinse it off with warm, not hot water. Once you have cleaned all the 'Good Times Roll' off your face you then pat your face dry. Once dry you need to finish the cleaning process off by applying a gentle toner so that you close the pores and stop any dirt getting in. You can then apply whatever moisturiser you think your face needs; finishing off with makeup if you want to apply some. I find this does an excellent job of gently cleansing and exfoliating my entire face leaving it feeling soft and really lovely. I have been using this instead of 'Angels' at least three times a week since I bought it in November and I have never had any problems at all with any sensitive skin. Would I buy this again? Well yes and I have twice. I am so pleased that Lush have kept it as a regular after Christmas .This does such a wonderful job of gently exfoliating and cleansing my face without leaving it dry at all. A pot of this has lasted me about three months as I use it at least three times a week and I do also use it on my neck too. I think I will always buy 'Angels on Bare Skin' as it smells lovely and I find it suits my skin perfectly. This however is also going to be a regular purchase for me and I will alternate the two cleansers. I think if you have not tried any of Lush's fresh face cleansers then I urge you to go and try them as they are all great. If you suffer from very greasy skin or from large open pores then I might try the 'Dark Angels' or 'Herbalism' instead. I suggest if you are intrigued by this then pop down to Lush as they have very knowledgeable staff who can advise on good skin care. Sometimes people with greasy and spot prone skin try so hard to almost dry out their skin with chemically based products and this often does more harm than good. Your skin needs some oil and what you need to do is help it balance its sebum/oil production. This one however works for all skin types and is especially good for those with dry skin or sensitive skin as it really does help balance my skin and I have not had any mini spot breakouts since using this and I did occasionally get them before. Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username. ©Catsholiday

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Cleanses and exfoliates without irritating

Lush has to be my all-time favourite shop and I love to pop in during my lunch break a couple of times a week and treat myself to something from their range of products. My favourites are their lip balms but I have tried out nearly everything they sell at some point or another. Their cleaners are generally pretty good with Let the Good Times Roll being no exception. It costs £5.95 which might sound on the steep side but not when you consider all the lovely fresh ingredients that are contained in it. This has things like corn oil, polenta, cinnamon and maize flour which sounds more like a baking ingredients list but it works. The cleanser comes in the usual black tub and you get 100g of cleaners inside. Keep the black tub as when you have five you can take them back and swap them for something else. The cleanser smells gorgeous and just like rich popcorn and it goes really well with the popcorn lip scrub which is one of my favourites. The look of the cleanser is a little bit strange at first as it is a really thick yellow gloop and looks sort of like dough. You only need the tiniest amount of the cleaner at a time so even though it is a little bit expensive and you don't get all that much it should last for ages. It doesn't really lather up and instead it becomes more of a paste which you then need to just apply to your face and gently massage in. I find that this leaves my skin feeling pretty clean and fresh. It is ultra gentle and in no way harsh on my skin and even though I have really sensitive skin and Rosacea this doesn't irritate it or leave it looking red afterwards. Because it is so gentle I wouldn't recommend that you use this for removing make-up as although it will get rid of foundation it is not really any good for long lasting eyeshadows etc. This was really good at leaving my skin feeling fresh and it actually hydrated it too. The exfoliating particles in it did a good job of making my skin feel smooth and it actually helped with dry patches and with regulating my skin making it more 'normal' instead of being greasy or dry. I found that it left my skin in nice condition for applying make-up and my moisturiser sank in to my skin better when using it. I would recommend this cleanser. There are better ones available in Lush but if you have sensitive skin then this is definitely worth a try as it is gentle enough and with a lot of sensitive skin sometimes it is hard to find something which exfoliates without irritating and this does that.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Lovely facial cleanser

I bought this 'Let The Good Times Roll', a lovely popcorn scented facial cleanser from Lush for £5.95 for an 100g tub. This is quite a lot for this amount; however this is from Lush, quite an expensive company, and you only need a tiny little bit, a pinch as it states, to get the job done nicely. This facial cleanser is packaged in a simple black tub, made of 100% recycled plastic, with simple labels stuck on to the lid of the pot and the sides, with simple details and instructions in black and white. It has a simple black lid that can be screwed on and off easily to access the facial cleanser inside (though at first I kept trying to prise the lid off). It is rather a small pot and it can be slipped easily into an overnight or travel bag for when you are travelling. The instructions for the facial cleanser states as follows: "Take a pinch of the cleanser and mix with warm water in the palm of your hand creating a milky paste. Massage into the face to gently moisturise and exfoliate, then rinse to leave you HD ready." This is relatively easy to follow. Like it says, you only need a pinch of the cleanser to mix with some water to make the milky paste. It is easy to take from the tub and it has a buttery and firm texture, with gritty parts in it for exfoliation. It blends quite easily in the water in your palm and then you can rub it gently across your face. When doing this, it is best to have your hair tied back if needs be, as though it is lovely for your face you do not want to have to be rewashing your hair as well as your face. It can then be washed off your face, though you may want to rinse it a few times to make sure that it is all off. This is very effective as a facial cleanser- first of all, my face genuinely felt softer and cleaner, not to mention how lovely smelling it makes it. It makes your face look smoother as well, though I don't know whether or not this really has an effect when you are taking HD photographs. However, it does leave your face feeling fabulous and exfoliated. This facial cleanser is said to contain corn oil, polenta, maize flour and cinnamon, which is probably why it smells so nice. Its scent is quite sweet and creamy, especially when it is not mixed with water and it is in its raw form inside the pot. When it has been rinsed off, the smell is still lingering but not overpowering and the smell stays there for quite a few hours, which is pleasant. The cinnamon adds a pleasant touch to the scent. It does really smell good enough to eat (but don't). This product is really nice but it does cost quite a lot for the small pot that you receive. However, on the label on the lid, it says that you can 'Bring back 5 clean full-size Lush pots or tubes and get one fresh mask free', so you can probably economise a little bit by using that of you are planning to buy many similar products from Lush. Also, this price is not unexpected from a company such as Lush and, as mentioned you only need a little bit per wash, and I am still on my first pot so I think that this is reasonably good value for money. It is a lovely product, and I would recommend it to you with 5 out of 5 stars.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A cleanser which doesn't remove make up properly but which does exfoliate and hydrate the skin

I have skin that is both oily and spot prone. I am able to keep it under control however it only takes one night of sleeping in my make up and it's a different story. This means that I need to ensure that I cleanse my skin and also that my cleanser is up to the job. I do love the Lush products because I know they are natural and good for my skin and so I purchased the Let The Good Times Roll cleanser. What does the product do? The product is described as being a gentle cleanser which leaves the skin on the face feeling fresh and clean. It has the added benefit of being an exfoliator which means it removes the dead and dull skin cells to reveal the lovely healthy skin underneath leaving the skin feel soft and smooth. It also claims that it will help to moisturise the skin, which is the best way to keep it looking young. Another benefit, if you see it that way, is that it leaves your skin smelling delicious like caramel popcorn. It contains some very strange ingredients such as flour, popcorn and Cinnamon but I was interested to see what it would do with my skin. How do you use the product? The product is used in the same way as a few of the other cleansers by Lush. You are to remove a small amount of the product from the pot (about the same size as a pea) and then mix it with a bit of water in the palm of your hand to form a paste. You then need to massage the paste in damp skin on the face, carefully avoiding the eye area. You then need to rinse off the formula thoroughly and then follow it up with a good moisturiser. Packaging and Price The product comes in the packaging that is typical of Lush which is a black top with a pull off lid. It has no decoration other than the usual white writing which tells you a little bit more about the product. It can be bought from your local Lush store or from its online websites and it will cost you around £5 for 100 grams. Aroma and Consistency The product smells just as delicious as promised. It smells like a caramel cookie, deliciously sweet and almost edible. It's not an aroma that you will usually find in a product for your face and I really love it but those who don't have a sweet tooth may not like it. It smells so good that it actually makes you feel a bit hungry. When you first remove the product from the pot, it has a crumbly consistency but not as much as the other cleansers and it is a little bit like play dough. It is caramel in colour and you can feel the mixture of the smooth and hard textures. When water is added, it becomes like a paste but you can still feel the exfoliating particles. Application and Performance I didn't get into quite so much of a mess when using this cleanser as I have with some of the others. You can smell the product strongly when you remove the lid. The paste is quite easy to make and it is easy to massage a bit of the paste into the skin using the other hand. I do drop some of the product but maybe that's because I'm clumsy. From the look of the product, you don't think it's going to do a good job of exfoliating the skin but it does have some really fine grains within the mixture. It feels comfortable on the skin and didn't irritate my sometimes sensitive skin. You can control the strength of the exfoliation by how hand you massage the product into the skin and it feels like it's doing quite a good job. It feels like it's hydrating the skin too. When it's time to remove the product, I use a warm flannel because this gets the majority off and then I rinse the rest off with warm water. After use, my skin doesn't feel tight and it does feel really soft and smooth. It feels quite moisturised and with continued use, I'm happy to report that it doesn't cause any spots. As with the other cleansers, this is completely rubbish at removing make up so it's better used in the morning when your skin is already fairly clean. Conclusion All in all, this is a bit of a novelty product which is fun to use, smells good enough to eat but that will leave your skin exfoliated, soft and smooth. It does make my skin look healthy and feel in a good condition but it doesn't remove make up properly which is the main reason that I would use a cleanser. For this reason, I'm given the product only three stars.

A nice cleanser to clear up spots and leave skin soft and lovely looking!

I love Lush all year round but I definitely look forward to the festive season as most of my favourite Lush products are Christmas products. Whilst I usually wait until boxing day so I can these items half price this year I just couldn't wait and ended up buying myself a pot of this Let The Good Times Roll Cleanser at full price, 100g for £5.95. The cleanser comes in the usual black plastic pot which can be saved and used as one of the five empty pots needed to claim a free fresh face mask from the store! The product name is written in white on the lid along with a description that claims this is 'A Maize In, gentle facial wash.' On the pot is a sticker of the person who made my particular pot of product, when it was made and when it should be used by and this product has a life of three months. The cleanser contains a typical Lush ingredients list in that it sounds as though you should eat the product rather than apply it to your skin! This one has popped corn oil, polenta, maize flour and cinnamon. The scent of the cleanser reflects the ingredients contained too as it has a beautiful sweet caramel and popcorn scent to it. This is a rather unusual scent for a face care product I know but I find it extremely appealing all the same. You may be a little surprised by what is inside too! The cleanser has a cookie dough consistency and is just one big lump of pale brown putty. To use the cleanser I pinch off a pea sized ball and mix with a couple of drops of water in the palm of my hand. This creates a creamy white paste and smells divine! Then I just need to rub it on my face and rinse off again, I usually apply this in the bath as I just find it easier to do this way. The cleanser is a gentle one and hasn't caused any sort of reaction to my very sensitive skin. This is the only face wash which exfoliates that I have ever been able to successfully use as the all the others I have tried just make my face burn so it's nice that I have found something which allows me to exfoliate my face without causing a reaction (I've been looking for something to do just that for ages now). Although this rinses off really easily I do find it leaves quite greasy traces on my face afterwards and I do normally apply a little Simple face wash afterwards just to get rid of this feeling. Whilst this doesn't do my dry sensitive skin any harm I could imagine this wouldn't go down very well with people with oily skin and I'd probably recommend those people stay away from this one. Once washed off I suddenly get little bursts of that popcorn scent throughout the day so the scent does last a while! My skin is left feeling so soft I often don't feel the need to moisturise either! This stuff works absolute miracles for spots too. In fact I'm really surprised Lush are not using that as their main selling point for this one because it just clears them up so well! I went through my teenage years getting the odd one or two every other month or so but now I've hit twenty and come out of my adolescence I just seem to be covered in spots all the time. The first time I applied this I woke up the next morning to find all spots had reduced in size by at least 50% and not a single one had any redness left to it at all. With continuous use it just clears them all right up - it's brilliant for spot prone skin. I do find it is a little too heavy to use every day and I tend to apply this once a week instead although at least this does make it last longer. Despite the heaviness it does a really good job at exfoliating, leaves skin really soft, is safe for sensitive skin and helps loads at clearing spots up. I do really like this one and I don't think you can moan at the price of it at all considering the results it gives!
