Lush Love Lettuce
Advantages: works wonders for your skin
In my bedroom I have a mini fridge. It used to be full of water and other drinks, but recently it has turned into a Lush haven for face masks - but before you call me a weirdo this was NOT intentional, I just simply ended up with too many.
On a recent trip to Lush I noticed this product on the shelf. A friend of mine uses it quite a lot and highly recommends it so I thought that it must be worth a shot - even if its up to no good at least I've tried. Along with a few other products (I have way too much Lush), I brought 2 tubs of Love Lettuce.
Love Lettuce is pretty much as you would expect, a tub of lettuce. I have collected about 6 pots in my mini fridge now and I am using them over time (need to stock up again I think haha). The best part about this mask is that it is for all skin types as it is deep cleansing, everyone can soak up the benefits. It is recommended to use each tub within 4 weeks, but I find that if kept in a fridge that isn't opened on a regular occasion, you can make it last a further 2 weeks. DO NOT freeze your face mask - it won't be any good once defrosted, my friend tried.
The mask is quite thick but not so thick you feel like your skin can't breathe. It is easy to apply to your face but can get pretty messy - bonus that it does not drip anywhere, just be careful not to drop it! I apply a thin layer to my face but enough so the skin is covered (once you look like Shrek you have the desired amount). The mask is then to be left for ten minutes by which time it will be quite tight but not completely dry - so avoid putting your face on a pillow or anything. To remove your mask either hop in the shower or use your hands over the sink. I find it best if you dab water all over your face first to moisten the mask and then using circular motions (getting your hands more wet each time) smooth it off your face. I tend to end up pretty red in the face afterwards from all the scrubbing but I am sure it is down to the pressure I apply when rubbing the mask off. Do not be alarmed, it is kind to sensitive skin and very gentle.
The after-math of Love Lettuce is a gorgeously smooth face, with what I would only describe as a healthy glow that I have been complimented on. I find that I do not need moisturiser afterward until maybe 2 days later. You will feel very refreshed and calm which is brilliant if you have had a stressful day.
I use Love Lettuce (or another face mask) once a week, twice if I am feeling like I need a little boost. It is part of my beauty regime and one I feel no woman should be without as it makes you feel so relaxed and calm.
After using Love Lettuce my skin has a natural, healthy glow to it and it feels a lot smoother thanks to the gentle exfoliation that occurs when you take it off. I have never had any irritation whatsoever from Love Lettuce as it is just so gentle on the skin but yet so effective. I can't complain about this face mask whatsoever. Best thing is that I don't need to use a moisturiser after I've taken it off as my skin feels completely nourished.
Love Lettuce is made up of Kaolin and fullers earth (well known to beauticians familiar with facials). Kaolin is a natural soft clay also known as 'China Clay' that helps to cleanse the skin and absorb any excess moisture. When you take the mask off it tends to be crisp on your face, helping the Kaolin to remove all dead skin cells and dirt. Fullers earth is a clay which has similar traits but tends to dig a bit deeper into your skin and help rid your body of any impurities (I think its perfect for blackheads). Other ingredients include a type of seaweed called Agar Agar gel, honey, crushed ground almond shells and a few natural antibacterials just to aid cleansing further. There is a quite marzipan like fragrance about this product, although you can subtly smell the almonds. Reading the website I also found that there is lanvendar oil included to help calm you while wearing the mask - perfect before bed time!
What I love most about this product is the way it cleanses your face, moisturizes and tends to exfoliate also which is a big bonus if you tend to splash out on your facial beauty routine. The exfoliating is done by the Kaolin and crushed almond shells, making skin feel gorgeous. This can do a few things in one!
Obviously as it is a Lush product, you can only purchase it from the Lush store itself or Lush.co.uk. It is found on eBay too but I would not recommend this as the product may have either already gone off or go off in the post - Which was one of my main concerns hence the reason I buy all my chilled Lush products from the store.
A 75g tub costs £4.95 (approximately) which I feel is well worth it. One tub can last me two masks if I do not slap it on too thickly.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone wishing for a more glowing, moisturised, relaxed feel about them. It works wonders on your skin! Who knew lettuce could do so much....
