“ Brand: Lush / Type: Cleanser / What it does: Cleanses, „
I have never used massage oils for two reasons. First of all I usually find them really thick and slimey and end up feeling like I've bathed in an oil slick. Secondly they usually carry warnings not to get them in your eyes / ears / mouth, and this stops me being able to relax for fear I should get some on my face.
Then I spotted the Mange Too massage bar in Lush. I immediately liked the chocolatey honey, slightly minty, smell which made my mouth water, and when I discovered it is actually edible I was over the moon as this meant I could relax and not worry if it should get near my face. So, I decided to purchase and try it.
The bar melted easily in warm hands and was oily enough for a massage without being too thick or slimey at first, although as the bar ran out it did get quite sticky, but I guess this is because the honey bit is at the centre? I tasted it too - tasted a bit minty, but not exactly yummy.
We got about 4 or 5 full body massages out of one bar. I think the £6 I paid for it is good value, especially since a lot of other natural massage oils are £8 - £10 for an equal amount of massages.
Mange Too was the first massage bar I bought myself from Lush - of course, I bought two to get my free tin ;-) but it's taken me ages to use this one up! I did get a limited edition Sexy Boy bar in my Christmas goodie bag, but while I liked the premise, I loathed the smell of that one.
Mange Too is described as Lush's honey and chocolate massage bar, hexagon-shaped and with a honeycomb pattern on the front. The ingredients include shea butter, white chocolate, honey, peppermint oil and vanilla absolute. I bought the bar on the strength of its delicious smell, which was strongly of honey and white chocolate.
I decided to use the bar after having a bath. I rubbed it between my hands to warm it and let it melt, then applied it on my skin. The bar itself is quite large and the shape wasn't the easiest to handle, and quite slippery! I noticed that after applying it, the massage oils smelled different - the peppermint was very noticeable. In all honesty, I found the strong scent a bit sickly. This is highly unusual for me, as I love all things chocolatey!
This bar is described as one of Lush's 'edible' massage bars, so I just couldn't help myself. I had a lick. It was disgusting. Just because you can eat it, doesn't mean you should!
I was impressed with how well this bar lasted. I must have used it around eight to ten times over two months or so. Although the massage bar is one of the most expensive, I feel it is very good value for money, as it is so large. Sadly it doesn't fit in the massage bar tin, so I had to leave it in the paper bag, which got a bit greasy after a while!
After using the bar my skin felt quite greasy, in fact I sat there for an hour while the oils soaked in and even then I had to use a towel to rub off some of the excess. My skin did feel very moisturised, and still felt soft the next morning. I even noticed that a bit of eczema that I had developed on my back was soothed and lessened, which is a nice bonus.
Would I buy this massage bar again? I probably wouldn't - I found it a bit too greasy and I'm not sure I liked the feel of it on my skin. Although I loved the scent at first, I found it quite sickly once it was on. However, these are quite personal things and the bar does have a lot of good points: it is value for money and very moisturising, plus it helped my eczema. So it wasn't right for me, so it may well be for you. I still like the massage bar idea though, and I do intend to try some more of the range.
Mange Too is one of Lush' massage bars.
It's shaped like a 50p piece and is a creamy white colour.
It fits easily into the palm of your hand.
Massage bars are basically body lotions in solid form - they melt on contact with skin (unless your skin is really cold - I have really cold hands so usually to get one to melt I need to warm them up first or blast it with a hair-dryer for a second)
To use it you just rub it between your hands or directly onto the skin you're rubbing it into.
It smells of white chocolate (it's meant to have some honey in there but I can't smell it.) and a subtle hint of mint.
It's a very nice massage bar to use day to day, very softly scented and nice - I wouldn't say it's fantastic for use with another person as there are much more sensual scents to choose from if that's what you want your massage bar for.
This does, however, leave the skin soft and moisturised and lasts for a very long time (it's quite big, especially compared to say... Soft Coeur.)
It's fantastic to use after shaving.
This is a pretty good massage bar, by no means Lush's best (seek out Wiccy Magic Muscles or Soft Couer to find that!) but it has a lovely fresh, honey-pepperminty smell. My husband has tried most of the massage bars courtesy of my back-rubs and we both like this one although as another reviewer said it is rather big and would take a long time to use up, if it does get used up, which seems a little wasteful - you probably don't really end up getting your money's worth unless you're using it every week or so!
Lush Mange Too body butter bar is a fantastic chunky massage bar which smells of toffee, white chocolate and vanilla (and melts at body temperature!)! If you are a fan of their 'honey trap lipbalm' you will love this as it has the same fragrance.
This is definately one of my favourite Lush products.
It lasts a couple of weeks if you use it every day. I find it value for money because it smells heavenly and makes my skin baby soft and feeling fantastic! It can be used as a massage bar, and a top tip - it also can be used on wet skin after a shower on the thighs and buttocks to help reduce cellulite! It contains cocoa butter and shea butter which are intensively moisturising and it's preservative free.
When giving a massage with this bar, it would be advisable to put a towel onto the bed to protect your sheets as this is very greasy and can stain.
If you like sweet things, this is for you! It is also a great gift if you are feeling generous.
This is one of Lush's massage bars, my partner bought it because I like vanilla. However it isn't our favourite, the smell has something unpleasant about it. As far as massage bars go it does what it says on the tin but doesn't leave you feeling too relaxed mainly because you just want to get the smell off you.
It is also one of the more expensive massage bars in the range and you get quite a lot. Which is basically more to waste. Of course you may like the honeycomb effect hexagon but I reccomend not buying it without having a demonstration on your hands so you can decide if you like the smell.
It is quite fresh with the citrus and peppermint flavours that it has but the vanilla doesn't really work, its not a neutral fragrance and the Lush developers haven't hit a winner with this flavour combination.
