This is another face mask I got in a job lot that I bought recently from a discount store. I ended up getting roughly 20 of these Montagne Jeunesse masks for about £4 which seemed like a pretty good deal to me.
I do like to use face masks but don't often buy these individual ones because they are expensive. I tend to buy a tube of face mask and use the same one repeatedly. This offer seemed like a real bargain though and I thought that it would be a nice luxury to be able to try lots of different ones for not much money.
This mask comes in a standard plastic packet that you cut open and squeeze the contents out. This mask is a clear green coloured gel type and it has a slightly minty cucumbery smell to it which is very fresh and summery. You then follow the instructions on the packet in order to apply and after 10-20 minutes when the mask is dry you can gently peel it off your skin.
The mask left my skin feel very soft and hydrated. I tend to wash my face after using masks like this and as such my skin felt very clean and clear after use. I also really liked the relaxing scent of this mask and found it had a lovely cooling effect which was very pleasant and great for hot summers.
These masks retail at around £1 which for one application is fairly steep. I would recommend shopping around and reading reviews to find the best masks available from this range as they are not all of the same high standard. This has to be one of the better ones I have tried so far and I would definitely consider buying it again if I could find it for the bargain price.
Overall, a nice face mask perfect for summer.
=Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel Off Masque=
What I particulary like about the Montagne Jeunesse masks are they are sold in single use packets, so you can try different products, from this which is a peel off mask or the clay mask which hardens.
=Price and Availability=
These are available from many retailers and a general price seems to be around £1 per mask.
On the front of the packet as well as the brand name, and the type of mask, the picture is of a lady wearing the mask, and on the rear of the packet, is the care instructions, the ingredients, as well as contact details for the company.
I massage the packet before opening just to ensure an even distribution of the mask. I snip the corner, less messy, and squeeze out the contents and apply to my face. Avoiding my eyes and keeping a small distance away from my hair line.
This is a cucumber mask, the mask has a herbal smell to it, not just the cucumber smell, but I felt like I was smelling different herbs in there.
The mask was very easy to apply, it is clear in colour, and has a thick consistency, almost reminding me of liquid glue. It applied easily to my face, with no droplets falling off.
I could feel the mask drying on my face, at first it felt a bit weird, as though my face had rubber drying on it, the mask started drying within about a minute of being applied at the parts where I had applied the mask thinly and within about 20 minutes before it was dry, at this time it just felt like a second skin. During thr drying process my skin felt fine, and there was no tingling or burning.
=Try Not to laugh=
It is better if you have no disturbances, as if you smile or laugh it can cause the mask to crack.
I had the mask on for 30 minutes.
It is fun removing the mask, as it is like glue, so your trying to peel and get a piece to pull, if you are like me and like peeling sun burn when it blistered (I know its naughty) but this process is the same sort of basis and I have to admit there is something very satisfying about peeling this mask off.
I pulled off from my jaw line upwards and the mask pretty much comes off in one go, any stray bits can easily be washed off.
I found my skin felt fresh, it looked glowing, and it was soft.
=Would I recommend=
I would highly recommend this mask, there great value, good choice in the range, and it was soft and gentle on my skin.
~*~*~ Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel Off Masque ~*~*~
At least once a month I like to pamper myself, and although I would love to have this pampering at a lovely health spa, unfortunately the funds aren't there. So I make do with a face pack/masque, a hot bubble bath and a large glass of rose wine. I have tried a number of different face masques from Montagne Juenesse before and I have been impressed with the quality. They have always left my skin feeling soft and smooth. And the best bit about a face mask is peeling it off! I decided to try the cucumber masque as I know that cucumber is very soothing for the skin. I quite often put cucumber slices on my eyes, I don't know why I do this? Probably because that's what they do on the TV and it looks good :)!
~*~*~ What is it? ~*~*~
This is a cucumber face masque by Montagne Jeunesse. It is used to 'remove impurities and dead skin, whilst cleaning and reviving the skin'. It is for use on normal, oily and T-Zone skin.
The masque comes in a sachet, and to open you simply pull along the rip line. To use, you simply squeeze out the product and apply to the face and neck, avoiding the eye and lip area. After 10-15 minutes, once the masque is fully dry, it is time to peel off. If there is any product still stuck on the face, then wash it off with warm water.
This product is vegetarian approved.
~*~*~ Price and availability ~*~*~
I purchased this masque from Boots for £1.00, it is also on a 3 for 2 offer. The sachet holds 10ml of product.
~*~*~ My thoughts ~*~*
I love wearing masques. I usually get really good results with my skin and I could not wait to try this masque. Opening the sachet is probably the most trickiest thing about using this product, I usually use a pair of scissor to open. Once opened I squeeze a small amount out on my hand and start applying to my face and neck. The masque is a gel-like substance and is quite thick and easy to apply. It is transparent with a slight tinge of green and it is slightly sticky. The sachet holds 10ml of product which is just about the right amount of liquid to get a good coverage on my face and neck.
You can feel the masque starting to dry within minutes. I love the sensation of my skin getting tighter as the product is setting on my face. At this stage you need to be careful that you don't pull any facial expressions or laugh, as the masque can start to crack. Whilst the masque is on (I am normally in my bath at this point) I lay back, relax and breath in the refreshing aroma of cucumber. The scent is very subtle and it is quite relaxing. Once the face masque is dry (after 10-15 minutes) the fun bit starts, I don't know what it is I just love pulling off the dry masque! The masque comes off relatively easily, there is the odd patch that needs to be removed with warm water, but this is no big deal. Once the masque has been removed my skin immediately feels incredibly soft and smooth. My face also looks refreshed and a lot brighter.
~*~*~ Would I recommend? ~*~*~
I would definitely recommend this face masque, it left my skin feel smooth and soft. It made my bathing experience a lot more enjoyable and luxurious. The cucumber fragrance was very pleasant and relaxing. I would probably say that this is one of my favourite Montagne Jeunesse face masques. I give this product 5 out of 5 Dooyoo stars.
Thanks for taking the time to read my review :)
A while ago I bought a big bundle of the Montagne Jeanesse face masks from eBay and this included a few of the cucumber peel off face masks. I only paid about £3 for the mixed bundle of face masks (about 12) but the retail price for one sachet of this face mask is around £1. There is only enough product for one use in each sachet, so it's not amazingly cheap but it is a lot more affordable than a majority of other brands and it is just as good as the more expensive ones in my opinion!
I used my last sachet of this mask yesterday and I will definitely be buying more - it is one of my favourites! The first thing I like about it is the smell - it smells amazing, so refreshing and clean. I was able to smell the cucumber in it as the scent of it is quite strong but it's a pleasant scent and not overpowering. The face mask does actually contain real cucumber juice which is apparently soothing and calming and it also contains jasmine and ginseng, neither of which I could really smell. The face mask its self has a gel like consistency which I like as it is a lot less messier than the runnier face masks and I found it very easy to apply to my skin.
I applied it all over my face, avoiding my eyes and mouth and it dried very quickly after I'd applied it. Not long after applying it my face felt very tight and stiff which I liked as I knew that meant that it was working! I left the mask on for a little longer than the recommended time so that I could get the most out of it - the recommended time is 15 to 20 minutes and I left mine on for about 25 minutes. When it came to removing the mask it wasn't as easy as I'd anticipated as it doesn't all peel off in one go, it comes off in little bits so I spent a good 5 minutes or so peeling it all off. It doesn't hurt when peeling it off or anything and in a weird kind of way I found like I was peeling away all the impurities off of my skin - it was quite enjoyable peeling it off bit by bit in a slightly strange way!
Once I'd removed the mask my skin felt a little dry, but it looked lovely and bright and very clean and my skin felt clean, smooth and fresh. Montagne Jeunesse say that it removes impurities, which I'd agree with to an extent - my skin did look clearer, but it didn't remove any blackheads as far as I could tell or have any effect on the appearance of the couple of spots that I currently have. The mask was very refreshing though and left my skin feeling revived, just as it claims to so I'd definitely recommend this mask and I am going to give it four out of five stars - I've knocked one star off because I found that it left my skin feeling a bit dry.
While shopping in Asda I came across a small stall at the end of the baby and toddler isle, ( conveniently located for tired mothers) and at £1 for a face mask I decided to pick one up. There is a huge variation of masks available from the Montagne Jeuness range, but I have to say from around 15 variations on show this one stood out the most to me. They are widely available at supermarkets, boots and superdrug so you should have no problem locating the mask. The mask comes in a small sachet style pack and the idea is to rip this along the lines provided at the corner of the mask. I have to admit after first use I now cut this with scissors as I found that when pulled the product seems to dispense from it a little quicker, and I am already messy enough while trying to apply this. The you simply squeeze the contents through this gap and apply to your face.
The mask itself is a gel like substance that is transparent, but still has a twinge of green colour to it. The first thing notable when I opened this was the smell. While cucumber did not stand out it has a real herbal smell to it, with a mixture of plant like scents drifting through. It is immediately refreshing, and I have to say I was actually excited to apply it. Of course you should make sure your face has been washed and prepped before applying the mask for the best results.
You are advised to avoid the eye and mouth areas, and of course to leave enough space from your hair line so the product does not touch your hair. I found a hair band perfect for keeping my long hair out the way once tied back in a ponytail. I found applying it to be very easy. As it has a thick consistency it spread across my face without dripping or any nuisance. With a little guidance I was able to cover my whole face very quickly. There is a stickiness to this mask so I found I needed to wash my hands afterwards, but then I decided to go and watch Eastenders while I waited.
I did find there was more than enough for one application of this mask. The first time I used it I found I added too much trying to make the most of the full product, but on other attempts I have learned that less is more. There is not enough for a second application which I think is a shame as it means a lot of it goes to waste, but I suppose it is better to have too much than not enough. I did find the scent disappeared a little while it was setting on the skin, but there are still drifts of it that move in and out while it is on my face. Almost instantly I could feel thinner parts of the mask begging to dry. I did think this would mean it would be ready for removal after around ten minutes, but actually in all it took a good twenty five minutes for it to fully dry. The mask tightens your skin as it begins to dry, but there is no tingling or burning sensation at all. You can tell when the mask is ready to be removed as your whole face is very tight, and you do need to sit still and silently for it to set properly.
I have to admit there is something very satisfying about peeling this mask off. I remember being at school and glue sticking to my hand, and I would love peeling the pieces away. This was a very similar experience and I found it rather therapeutic in itself. Pulling at the mask from the bottom on my jaw line I found that most came away in one piece. There were a few stray pieces especially around my hair line I could have simply washed these away, but I found it fun to peel every last piece away from my face. . I also find no matter how thinly I apply it areas around my nose and cheeks never set. I have tried leaving it longer, but it seems that the gel seems to settle in some place and refuses to dry. This has no effect on the overall results.
Then with a splash of water over my face to make sure the whole mask was removed I was impressed with the results. My skin felt very clean, soft and visual appearance was fantastic too. My skin looked more radiant and clean and I could definitely notice a huge difference from before applying the mask. Usually with face masks I find my skin can be a little dry but I am pleased to say it was fine after using this mask. A few hours later I did apply some moisturiser but this was out of habit more than anything as it is part of my daily routine. I also found the effects lasted for a good few days after I had used the mask. This is not a one minute wonder, but something that leaves my skin in great condition for up to a week after use.
Out of all of the masks in the range this is one I just find myself returning too. I love the scent and the results it leaves on my skin. I love that it peels off, and although it takes a while to set it is great to have some me time. For £1 I do believe it is a bargain face mask that provide truly fantastic results. I love trying new face products as my skin can be rather problematic at times and I often suffer with breakouts. This is one I have been using for years and I still receive fantastic results. It is so easy to apply and remove and it really is perfect for a little bit of me time. I have combination skin with the areas around my cheeks usually drying, but an oily T zone. I found this to be perfect for my skin, so highly recommended.
I have used a few types of the Montagne Jeunesse face masks, mainly because I they are really cheap, easy to use, there are so many to choose from and there are always plenty in stock at my local Superdrug. I usually buy a few at a time and as they are only £1 each, they are not going to break the bank and they make a nice treat as I only use them about every other week or so. I have a mainly normal type of skin but I do have an oily T-zone and for this reason I decided to try this peel off cucumber facial mask as it's meant to be good for this type of skin. I have used peel off masks previously (I first started to use them back in my teenage years when I had a few spots) and though I prefer the wash off type, I am not averse to using the peel off ones either though I do find this particular one a bit problematic to use as it is quite runny.
This face mask comes in the familiar Montagne Jeunesse pack with a rather fetching picture of a lady on the front with cucumber on her eyelids. I follow the instructions to the letter whenever I use these masks as I want to get the best possible results I can and so far I have loved every single one I have used from this range. This particular one is like a clear type gel with a slight green tinge to it. It is runny and please be ware of this if you've not used this particular one before. I took a little while for me to get used to its consistency and I found it a little hard to apply for this reason.
I always make sure I don't get it around my mouth or my eyes or near to my hair. I then lie back, relax and wait for it to do its work,. I leave this particular mask ion my face whilst I read a book or magazine and wait for it to dry. It usually takes about fifteen to twenty minutes for this mask to dry off completely and I try to leave it for the maximum amount of time, but usually my daughter shouts "mum" as she's after something or other and I find myself peeling it off before it's ready.
The mask smells really nice, rather like a mild mint than a definite cucumber. It feels cold and refreshing as soon as it touches my skin and as it dries it doesn't feel too tight. Removing it is really simple and easy though it does feel a little odd the first time you remove a peel off mask. The trick is to get your fingers under the edge and the slowly roll if backwards. This then helps you take hold and simply roll the mask clean off your skin.
I love the way this makes my skin feel after I have used it. It feels tighter, firmer, refreshed and really clean and smooth. I love that this mask doesn't make my skin feel dry or dehydrated. It just makes it feel most and soften ed and altogether better. It also has the ability to rid my oily T-zone for a few days after I have used this mask, which is always a plus point for me.
I think that for only £1 I can afford to treat myself to this mask a bit more regularly and I now plan to give myself one of these every week instead of ever two weeks. It's a lovely treat to myself and makes my skin feel so much better after using it.
I was delighted to receive a couple of face mask sachets from the well known "Montagne Jeunesse" range from a very good friend of mine a while back, who obviously thought I needed a little pampering and TLC... how right she was! Delighted with my gift, I decided to try out one of the face masks, namely the "Cucumber Peel Off Masque" the very next day, and this review outlines my experiences of using the product.
The packaging is pretty unique, and I believe that the distinctive designs and in particular the 'shape' of the Montagne Jeunesse face packs are trademarks of this particular company. The front of the package shows the image of a lady's face which is covered with the product, complete with cucumber slices covering her eyes. It is fair to say this image, together with the bright colours which include bright cerise pink, used on the package offer a rather eye-catching design that looks unique.
There is quite a large range of assorted face masks (and, I believe, hair mask products) available from the Montagne Jeunesse brand, which you can find in good drugstores such as Superdrug, as well as some supermarkets, chemists and discount shops. Prices vary, but you can expect to pay around £1 - £1.40, depending on where you shop.
There is a little indent at the top of the masque's pouch which is designed to be pulled along the top of the pouch to open it. Unfortunately, due to limited mobility and weakness in my hands, I struggled to do this and had to resort to using scissors to snip off the top of the pouch instead. This is common practice with products like this one in my experience, and for those consumers with mobility issues like myself, it may well be worth noting that a little assistance might be required when opening this product.
The face masque itself is a pale green colour, and it is completely see through, so it looks rather like a thin gel. I thought it looked quite attractive, and I felt that its consistency was thin enough to allow it to be squeezed easily from the opening at the top of the product's pouch. There was a pleasant smell evident, even as the product was squeezed from its pouch and I found this to be completely refreshing. I have to say that I didn't particularly notice a cucumber scent evident at this stage, but something slightly herbal that reminded me of plants or perhaps Aloe Vera. Whatever the ingredient, it gave a lovely refreshing quality to the face mask that I really enjoyed, and it felt quite inviting as I began to smear the gel-like product over my face.
There is a warning on the packaging to take special care to avoid the lips and eyes when applying the product and I found this easy to do as the face masque is not at all runny or overly thin in its consistency. This means that it was rather easy to 'guide' the product around the face and over the skin's surface by smoothing it around. I was surprised at the quantity of the product contained in the pouch as I felt it was rather too much for my own face. I did consider leaving some of the product in the pouch for a future use, but was concerned about it deteriorating before I got a chance to use it up. In the end, I smothered the whole lot over my face in a rather thick layer.
There was a beautiful 'cooling' sensation evident during the application process, probably because the masque itself was so cold! This felt quite refreshing and pleasant, particularly as I had been up half the night previously and was feeling in need of something slightly rejuvenating! The lovely herbal aroma was evident for the whole of the application process too, and I could detect it whilst the masque began to work its magic too. The smell didn't feel over-powering or unpleasant at all, just very refreshing and quite natural, which I really liked as I'm not a huge fan of chemical or 'synthetic' types of aromas.
I did feel that the texture of the masque felt quite sticky whilst it was being applied, but this was not particularly off putting, probably because I was distracted by the gorgeous cooling sensation experienced from the masque itself. The sticky residue left behind on my hands was easy to wash off, with some soap and hot water.
The instructions on the masque's packaging informed me that it should be left on for 10-20 minutes, but I decided to have a long soak in a bubble bath so my masque was allowed to settle on my skin for longer than this time. I did give it a bit of a test at around the 20 minute mark and found that there was several 'patches' on my face where the 'gel' had not yet dried up, but this was presumably down to the sheer amount of masque applied in these areas, in my bid to avoid wasting the product. In any event, I wasn't ready to remove the masque until a good 30 minutes or so had passed, following my relaxing bath.
Removing the product was quite easy for the most part, as it had dried up considerably since its application. I was able to peel a small section of the masque around my chin and this allowed me to grip the masque and gently peel it off. You should never pull on the masque excessively as this may cause irritation to the sensitive facial area, but in all honesty you shouldn't really need to apply too much pressure in order to remove the product from your face. In my case, I found it peeled very easily from the skin's surface and it felt quite satisfying to peel it off in small sections, I must admit!
I did find that there were a few areas on my face where the face masque had not quite 'set' properly, which was presumably down to the sheer amount of the product that I had previously slapped over my skin. Or, perhaps a few minutes longer was required to allow these 'thicker' areas to set properly. Whatever the reason, I did find that some small sections still held the face masque in its 'gel' form, and it hadn't 'set' at all, which was really only a minor inconvenience and rather trivial. After removing the rest of the masque, I simply lathered a small amount of creamy facial cleanser into the palm of my hand and soaped the lather over the small areas where the face masque was lingering stubbornly. It took a mere moment to remove this residue with the cleanser and hot water solution.
Patting my face dry, I was able to instantly detect the softening qualities of the face masque that had left my skin rather soft and surprisingly moisturised. The most recent face mask product that I have been using prior to this one was a Tea Tree offering that felt slightly harsh and with a slight 'drying' quality to it that I didn't particularly relish. This led me to use an intensive moisturiser on my face to alleviate the familiar 'tightness' that overly harsh products will often induce on my poor skin. The Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Masque in comparison, felt extremely gentle and rather kind to my skin, with no unpleasant tingling or tightness being present at all. In addition, I was extremely surprised to note that my dry (and very sensitive) skin had apparently benefited considerably from the use of this product as the troublesome patches of dry skin that will flare easily seemed calm, and subtly moisturised with no dryness being evident at all.
I did find it necessary to apply my night cream moisturiser as usual the same evening after using the Cucumber Masque, but there are very few products that will take the place of this part of my skincare routine, as far as I am concerned, so this decision is no real measure of the Cucumber Masque's ability to soften and soothe the skin.
In summary, I was extremely impressed with both the refreshing and relaxing feel of the masque product during use, together with the softening and moisturisation properties obtained from its use that worked beautifully together, to provide a beneficial treat for my face that felt relaxing and 'pampering' to use, whilst working a little magic on my dry and sensitive skin. For the reasons outlined in this review, I wholeheartedly recommend the "Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel Off Masque" and do feel it is entirely deserving of full marks in the Dooyoo product rating score.
Being someone who suffers from quite oily skin, I often find it difficult when shopping for products. I have settled on a cleanser and toner which work well, but I find it a real struggle to find things such as face masks which match my skin tone. I have tried out Montagne Jeunesse before, and have been really impressed with their face peel off masks. The reviews on this seemed to be great and well recommended for oily skin, so I just had to try this out.
This face mask retails for between around 90p and £1.10 depending on where you purchase it. I think it's a cheap price for a nice little treat for the skin. It is stocked in Boots and I have also seen it in Primark. I personally purchased mine from my local Home Bargains where they are on offer at 3 for £2.00. This works out at around 67p per mask which I think is excellent and a great saving when compared to full price.
The product comes in a small sachet as shown in the image. To be honest, I almost missed this mask as I feel the packaging is a bit dull in comparison to some of their brighter, fruitier shades. The real reason this stood out to me is because I love the peel off masks, and also because I love cucumber scented products, and they always tend to work well for oily skin. You simply need to rip open the packet and use accordingly.
I like to squeeze it out of the packet on to the palm of my hand, and then just use my fingers to rub the product all over my face. The first thing I noticed was the colour of the liquid, which is quite a bright green. It comes out in the form of a sticky gel which is probably not pleasant on your first time, but having used a few of these now I am used to this. You just have to apply directly on to the skin and avoid hair, lips and eyes. I would really recommend paying attention to this particularly when using a peel off mask. It can be a nightmare if you get the product stuck in your hair, and I had to shower to get mine out on a previous mask. Whilst applying to the skin, the gel comes out almost identical to the skins colour. You get a decent amount in the sachet, definitely enough to cover the whole face. Application was easy if a little bit sticky, but this was fine by me.
You then just have to sit back and relax. I like to leave mine on twenty or so minutes to get the full effect. I found that the scent of this was just lovely and great for having a relaxing treat. Because the main ingredients are cucumber, ginseng and jasmine, they combine together to create a lovely fresh scent. This is nice for winding down, and I definitely found it more soothing that using a sickly sweet or fruity scent. Cucumber is well known for it's anti-stress properties and this is stated on the packaging. I did sit back and relax whilst letting the mask dry, and I have to admit it did do the job. I found it lovely to use, and it tightened the skin nicely without the mask cracking.
One of my favourite things about peel off masks is removing them. After twenty minutes the mask was ready to be removed, and I was happy to see that it came off in pretty much one go. I did not have to pick for ages at different parts of my skin, and I enjoyed this as it was an easy process. Personally, I actually quite like the peel off masks simply because I like to peel them. This sounds silly but there is something so calming about it! It does hurt if you tug too hard on the skin so beware of this. I found that some of the mask did get stuck around my hairline and eyebrows, but this was removed in the shower the following morning so no issue for me.
Interestingly, I did use this product with a friend who has normal/dry skin. The effects on my oily skin were far better than my friend. Although noticeable results showed on both of us, my normally oily skin was completely firm and kept my make up in place all the next day. It was soft to touch and really had a healthier look about it. Because of this, I do thoroughly recommend this to those who have a similar skin type to me.
Overall, I was really impressed with this cucumber peel off face mask from Montagne Jeunesse. I now swear by these masks and use them at least once weekly to keep up a good skincare regime. The results are brilliant, the product is cheap and best of all it works wonders! Really happy to recommend this to everyone. Thanks for reading.
I really like treating my skin with a face mask every week or so and have tried several masks in the past including those from Lush and other brands. The Lush ones are my favourites but they are expensive to buy so I was on the lookout for some cheaper alternatives
I've seen the Montagne Jeunesse range of face masks, with their brightly coloured sachets, in several stores before and have read many positive reviews. I ordered a few masks from the Superdrug online store to spend over the free delivery threshold; at the time they had a "buy 3 get another free" offer on.
One of the masks I purchases was the Peel-Off Masque. The mask is designed for normal, oily and T-zone skin, and it is claimed that it is anti-stress. It comes in a pink sachet with a picture of a woman wearing the mask and pieces of cucumber over her eyes.
The mask is supposed to gently peel away dead skin and give your face a deep clean. Montagne Jeunesse say: "Find a fresher face when you peel away our purifying mask: the ideal gentle peel specially formulated for problem and T zone skin. Removes impurities and dead cells whilst cleaning and reviving the skin."
Animal lovers will be pleased to know that the mask has been approved by the Vegetarian Society and bears the BUAV bunny logo to show that it has not been tested on animals.
In order to use the mask, you should gently cleanse your face and apply it thinly to your face and neck, avoiding the eyes, lips and hair. It should be left on for 10-20 minutes to give it a chance to work and to dry on the skin. The mask was fairly thick, but easy to spread onto the skin without spillage, and felt cooling and soothing on my face. It was clear in colour and had a clean fresh scent - rather like cucumber, which it contains. I had a bath while using the mask, and was able to relax while it dried. My face felt a bit tight after a while but I had expected this from this kind of mask.
After the allotted period, it was time to remove the mask. As someone who, as a small child, used to put PVA glue all over her fingers in order to peel it off later, I was irrationally excited about peeling off the mask. I didn't manage to get it all off in one go, but it was very satisfying to pull large pieces of mask from my skin. This meant that removal was a much less messy process than usual - I just put the peeled-off mask in the bin and used cotton wool soaked in toner to remove any last traces. I followed with my usual moisturiser.
My skin felt beautifully fresh and clean after using the mask. I didn't experience any skin irritation at all and my skin looked glowing - it did look and feel as though the mask had pulled away the rubbish from my skin. I could see the effects for a few days after using the mask. My skin tone appeared more even, radiant rather than tired, while my oily T-zone was much less shiny, even my nose, on which the pores appeared much less noticeable.
I was able to get two uses out of this mask, the second a week after the first. I might have tried to keep some for a third week, but I think the mask might have dried out by then after being exposed to the air.
I've tried several masks from Montagne Jeunesse, with varying results. This is probably my favourite so far, as it made a real and positive difference to my skin. This is a mask that I will certainly be repurchasing in the future, and I recommend it particularly for oily and combination skin.
Montagne Jeunesse products are made in the UK and these face masks can be bought from places like Boots, Superdrug, Savers and Amazon (where you can currently buy 6 sachets for a fiver). Normally they are priced at £1 or less which makes them good value for money, particularly when each sachet can normally be used at least twice. You can find out more at www.montagnejeunesse.com.
I have tried the Montagne Jeunesse range before and really enjoy using their face masks as they are a fun treat and the lovely descriptions on the packaging makes them sound very appealing. I like to try out all the different varieties - or "flavours", as I think of them! - and this Cucumber Peel Off Masque is the one I've used most recently. The masques are available to buy in most high street beauty stores and will cost around 99p for a 10ml sachet.
This item is described as an anti-stress masque with cucumber. Montagne Jeunesse say: "Gently peel away dead skin. Find a fresher face when you peel away our purifying mask: the ideal gentle peel specially formulated for problem and t-zone skin. Removes impurities and dead cells whist cleaning and reviving the skin."
Recommended directions for use: Gently cleanse face. Apply thinly and evenly. Enough for face and neck. Avoid eyes, lips and hair. I like to give myself a good pampering when I am using a face mask, and these Montagne Jeunesse face masks always feel like a nice indulgent treat. To begin with, I made sure that all traces of make-up were fully removed and I then went about applying the masque. The packaging opens easily with a small tear-off section in the corner, but this masque is a different formulation than usual, being designed to peel off, and it is very runny and messy. I had to be quick when spreading it over my skin to avoid it dripping. Usually these face masques contain far too much of the product and there is always some leftover which gets wasted if you do not store it and re-use correctly. This masque came in a slightly smaller pouch than usual, containing 10ml rather than the normal 15-20mls. This was the perfect amount to get a full coverage of the product over my face and neck.
The mask itself was not like the plain white colour depicted on the packaging, but was actually a shade of a bright green when I applied it. It had a nice strong fragrance that was not really like cucumber as you would expect with it being the main ingredient, but instead it had a nice zingy citrus scent to it. The masque has a gel-like consistency and was completely smooth which made it easy to spread over my skin. It had a nice cooling effect upon the skin and it started to work quite quickly. The texture changes as it starts to dry out, and as it dried on my skin I began to experience some tightness. It forms a filmy layer which when fully dry can then be lifted at the edges and peeled away. The masque started to dry after only a few minutes and this gave a tightening effect while the masque was still on. This should be left on for 10-20 minutes. In most areas, particularly around my mouth and nose, the masque was dry and ready to be peeled after just 10 minutes. I found that it took a lot longer for the masque to fully dry over my neck so I had to wait around before I could finish the peeling. It comes away easily and is quite a fun process - if you enjoyed peeling spilled PVA glue off your hands as a child, then this is the grown-up beauty regime equivalent! It's sort of a novelty and it does look strange seeing the resulting layer of face masque once its removed.
I decided to use this particular face masque as I was in need of its promise of providing a deep cleanse. It is recommended for normal, oily and t-zone skin, and I would say I have a combination (t-zone) complexion. It felt soothing whilst I was wearing it and it did seem to be effective almost immediately. After using the masque my skin felt really refreshed and was clean and smooth to the touch. It did help to clean up my complexion, but in doing so, drew impurities out from my pores and caused a couple of big blemishes. I think this is a nice face masque that is easy to use and would suit regular use to keep skin clear and in good condition. I would recommend this masque, especially if you enjoy using peel-offs.
Montagne Jeunesse are against animal testing, and have been approved by BUAV and the Vegetarian Society. Keep your beauty cruelty free!
Montagne Jeunesse was quite a few different kind of masks. They offer a wide range of different facial masks and even masks for your legs and foot. There are also a number of masks for scrubbing but you also have masks especially for men. The packaging is recognizable, clear and easy to work with. The masks come in many flavours, so there's something for everyone.
The packages of Montagne Jeunesse masks all have a special form. It is not a right forward package. Every package you see a lady (or man) who seems to enjoy the mask. With this package you can see a lady with cucumber and green leaves on her eyes and a cream. On the back you can read how to use this mask and what kind of mask this is. It also contains the ingredients and you can read that this product contains of course cucumber but also jasmine, cactus and bergamot.
It is a green translucent gel that has a light mint fragrance. This is actually the only scent that I smell. Striking because it is not on the packaging. Applying is something you have to get used to, especially if you have never had a peel-off mask beofre. I already have some experience with this kind of masks and it was pretty easy for me. After ten to twenty minutes, the mask is dry and you can gently pull it off. You do this by just sliding your finger over your skin to roll. Then gently pull.
After using this mask, my skin feels soft and completely relaxed. Even my skin looks cleaner and clearly. I am very pleased with the result! The gel is quite fluid and it spreads easily, but also runs fast off your hands. It's quite difficult to make a thin layer on your skin. Practice makes perfect, so do not be put off immediately after the first time. I find the name misleading as cucumber I have not discovered. Strange that there is a slight smell of mint is, while this is not on the label. Four stars for this product.
Nowadays I don't really have that much time for a relaxing bath but when I do (having got my toddler to sleep and sent hubbie out of the house) I like to use a face mask. It's not something I do all the time, probably about once every two months but I love to do it as the effect is very relaxing and the result is a nice smooth face. One of my favourite masks to use is the Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber peel off masque. These can be purchased from Boots for just 99p so they are definitely a bargain when you want a nice bit of pampering. Boots recommend that you use this mask weekly and fortnightly but I don't think I am missing out on any continuing beauty benefits by not using it this frequently so I like to think that it still does just as good the amount of time I use it.
This cucumber masque is a purifying mask. Boots say in particular that this mask is specially formulated for problem and t-zone skin. I don't necessarily have an issue with this part of my face but the masque will also remove impurities and dead cells whilst cleaning and reviving the skin so I would say I use it more for this as an all over beauty routine and not to target a specific area. The mask is very easy to use. It comes in a little 10g foil sachet which you can just rip the top off. Then you squeeze the liquid out. It's a sort of green gel like consistency which is quite easy to smooth over the face.
You have to be careful to avoid your eye area and lip area so I just make sure I go just under the puffy part of the eye. Apart from that it goes all over my face and down a bit on my neck. Always make sure that you face is clean of make up and dry as well otherwise there really is no point in using this masque. I then sit back in the bath, relax and let the masque do its work. It's actually quite a funny sensation but a nice one at the same time. The masque gets tighter over your face as the minutes go by and it kind of form a little tight barrier over your face. By that time you can't move your face without the masque cracking and you don't want that so you are forced to not move your face which is a really nice thing to do to help you totally relax, no talking or anything which is why I like my little girl to be asleep when I do this! The package recommends that you leave the masque for about 10-20 minutes and I find that 20 usually works nicely. I wouldn't worry about leaving it any longer, I have done that on occasion and its not like the masque will burn your skin or anything bad like that.
The smell is lovely, a cucumber scent is one of my favourite cleansing scents as I think it is so fresh and clean smelling and this masque is no different.
Once the masque is dry and you feel like you've relaxed enough you can peel it off. Now, if you're the type of person who likes to pop bubble wrap or peel off bits of dry skin when you have been sunburnt then this is definitely the thing for you. Pulling the masque off is so satisfying and fun, especially if you do it slowly enough and can get most of the masque to come off in one go. I find if I have blinked around my eyes or moved my mouth some of the masque will have cracked a little and so left little flakes of masque which look like skin but these can be just washed off with a bit of water.
Afterwards my skin feels really soft and a bit tighter and I really like the glow it gives to my face. All in all, a nice relaxing at home beauty treatment that is kind to your face.
I love Montagne Jeunesse I bought this mask as an alternative to the normal clay or wash off types. Montagne Jeunesse masks cost £1 and you can get them in Boots and all supermarkets.
This particular sachet contains 10ml of mask and is described as being for normal or oily skin. The mask has a peeling action to deep clean pores and peel off dead skin. The mask contains extracts of cucumber which is known for it's refreshing and purifying properties.
To use this mask you have to thoroughly cleanse your skin, I used a face wash to make sure I removed any dirt and grime. You then need to spead a thin layer onto the skin. The mask on the sachet looks blue it comes out however a pale green colour. It has the consistency of egg white it is very sticky and can be tricky to apply evenly. If you don't apply it evenly then you will end up with certain parts drying quicker than others. I found that there was too much for one application in the packet but not enough for two applications. The mask has a clean smell, you can notice the cucumber as you apply it. You then have to leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes until it is dry before peeling off.
As the mask dries it starts to peel off from around your mouth and eye area so once your whole face is dry it is easy to remove. It comes off as a green layer which looks like cling film!
After using this mask my skin felt really smooth and clean. It felt like my skin had been exfoliated. My skin didn't feel dry or tight in any way and I noticed a tingling sensation that lasted most of the day.
I would give this mask 4 out of 5 I have deducted a star as it is rather sticky and difficult to wash off your fingers after applying, I would also recommend avoiding this before a night out as I have found with some uses it has drawn out spots not what you want before you go out!
For starters, I adore Montagne Jenuesse. They supply a huge variety of deep conditioning hair masks; nourishing body moisturisers and nourishing face masks in an assortment of unusual, exotic flavours. I'm a massive fan of the range, and I've been using them for a number of years and they never fail to give me a smooth, cleansed result. Their products are fairly priced at about £1, or you can usually buy 3 for £2 at Asda; they are also sold at Boots, Superdrug and various other chemists. You can buy different masks for different skin types - some are moisturising, others are deep cleansing so you can always find something to suit you.
Packaging of this 'Cucumber Peel' is like most masks. Just a squeezable, thin plastic packet containing a gel, liquidated goo inside. In consistency, the mask is quite thick and is clear in colour with a slight aquamarine tang to it. On the front cover, is a woman supposedly wearing the mask however the mask isn't the colour that is displayed on the model. Although this is a cucumber peel, I don't really see where the cucumber comes into the equation, it doesn't smell of it at all, infant it discretes more of a minty scent. Also, there is a subtitle saying 'anti-stress', which was initially why I purchased the mask in the first place. I just wanted to relax because of all the pressure of exams, aswell as getting my skin clensed and supple; and it certainly didn't fail!
Application of the product is simple; mainly because of it's gooey, buildable consistency. It's easy to manoeuvre and massage into pores, it's so easy. Basically, just gently tear the top off the mask by using the slit provided and just squeeze it out onto your palms. Remember to only use HALF of the product though; there is ample amount to provide two applications with just one sachet. For best results, before using, remember to gently cleanse your face with a mild toner formulated for your skin type, also remember to exfoliate with a light facial scrub to remove any dead skin cells and most importantly, splash your face with warm water to open pores. Apply evenly and thinly to your face and neck, remembering to avoid eyes, lips and hair to avoid irritation. Relax, and let the mask do it's magic - leave it about 10-20 minutes for the product to achieve it's maximum potential. When time is up, gently peel off the mask (never pull!) to reveal younger, fresher, clearer skin. Remove any unwanted residue stuck in eyebrows or anywhere else with warm water.
Ingredients: Aqua, purified water, alcohol, lauryl glycol ether, PVP, cucumis satitus, fruit extract, Jasmine, flower extract, black walnut, shell extract, ginseng root, cactus extract, primrose, citrus, fruit oil, tocopheryl, vitamin E, lime.
All of montagne Jenuesse's products are suitable for vegetarians and they do not test on animals; so it's all ethnical, which is an added bonus!
After usage, the mask most certainely lived up to it's promises. It certainly had a calming, soothing effect and lowered stress levels so it's perfect if you are in need of some 'me time!' When you take the mask completely off, remember to splash your face with clean, ice cold water to close pores and obviously follow up with your preferred moisturiser. The results are certainly noticeable, blackheads are significantly reduced aswell as any broken skin and blemishes appear less red. Although the mask isn't initially supposed to moisturise your skin, it certainly did! My skin felt smoother and it significantly reduced the appearance of fine lines. The product itself is primarily used to for a deep cleansing treatment but the mask delivered much more than that. I am so impressed and I shall continue to purchase this cucumber mask in future.
Overall, the perfect face mask. What more could you want? My problemed, blemish prone skin has improved aswell as the condition of my skin. Like I said, it also reduces stress too so it will benefit your health aswell. I just love montagne Jenuesse! This is one of my favourite of their products, along with the thermal clay mask, fruit smoothie moisturising mask and the chocolate mud mask. I couldn't ask for anything more from a facial treatment. Additionally, it's also affordable - 99p! I would highly recommend this mask to any skin type. 5 stars.
I find it extremely difficult to relax and have always been the same where I have to be doing something almost all of the time. I'm fully aware that "me time" is very important for my well being and one thing that really does help me to relax is when I pamper myself, which unfortunately, doesn't occur very often these days!
I have read some extremely positive reviews on the item I am about to review and whilst browsing in Home Bargains a couple of weeks ago I spotted the item on the shelf and it subsequently ended up in my trolley. The product I am reviewing today is Montagne Jeunesse Peel-Off Masque and this review discusses my experience of using it.
Whilst I have seen this product in many supermarkets and chemists for many years I had never heard anything about it so it didn't particularly appeal to me. After purchasing my mask I decided to read up a little on the company and was pleasantly surprised to learn that they are based in Swansea, which is only some 50 miles from my home. Their website is quite quirky and provides details of all of their products together with many useful beauty tips.
I also learned that if you provide Montagne Jeunesse with your contact details you might be lucky enough to be chosen to receive some free samples. However, when I attempted to add my email address I received a response stating I was already registered! I haven't a clue when I did this and unfortunately, I've not yet been successful in receiving any freebies. If you are not familiar with this range, you will be unaware of the unique shaped sachet and it was only when I read the small print that I learned that its' special shape, together with the logo are trademarks of the Herbalists at Montagne Jeunesse.
The mask I purchased contained cucumber and aromatherapy anti-stress oils, which I felt was perfect suited to me, particularly as I've been feeling quite stressed over the last couple of weeks. The packaging is extremely eye-catching where we are provided with an image of a woman with slices of cucumber on both of her eyes, together with a number of leaves that sprout out from underneath the slices. She is wearing a white mask and bright red glossy lipstick! I can't say that I'll be putting my lippie on after applying my anti-stress mask though!
We are informed that the mask is intended for normal, oily and T-zone skin and will peel pores deep clean. Sounds pretty fabulous! In order to refresh my memory I decided to apply the mask for the purpose of this review. As I didn't relish the though of having to pick my hair out of a sticky face mask I tied it back tightly in a pony tail and clipped my fringe securely onto the top of my head. I then opened the 10ml foil sachet by gently tearing along the perforated edge until the upper section was completely removed.
I squeezed the sachet starting from the lower section until the light green gel appeared at the top and then I dispensed it onto my hand and applied to my freshly washed face. The gel was of a good consistency and felt somewhat sticky as I applied it to my skin whilst taking care not to get it anywhere near my eyes, nose or lips. I applied it as quickly as I could, particularly as I was afraid that it would start to set on my hand. The aroma of the gel was simply delightful and whilst I couldn't detect the cucumber I could smell an extremely uplifting mint fragrance. The mask was so cooling on my skin and I instantly felt relaxed as soon as I applied the last drop of the gel.
At this point I had to take a short break from writing my review, particularly as I wished to experience the full benefit of my home facial, so I laid on the bed relaxing in total peace and quiet for half an hour ensuring that I did not move a facial muscle. We are advised that the mask can take between 10 and 20 minutes to dry, but obviously if you apply it thickly it will take longer. This was the case for me, as I found there was a little too much in the sachet for a single application, but not enough for two, so I simply piled it all on!
Within approximately 10 minutes I could feel the skin tightening around both my eye and neck areas as the mask started to set. I was totally relaxed as I lay on the bed, which is something that I don't normally have time to do. The beautiful mint fragrance assisted me greatly in my wonderfully calming and tranquil 30 minutes of peace and quiet.
Fortunately, I was not disturbed by hubby, who can very rarely keep quiet and my experiences of using face masks in the past have been somewhat marred where I would find myself having to respond to his constant calling, which subsequently resulted in me having a saggy mask hanging around both my lip and chin area!
After approximately 35 minutes the mask was totally dry and was clear and shiny in appearance so the fun bit for me was removing it! I grabbed hold of the bottom of the mask and gently pulled upwards. Please remember to remove upwards as opposed to downwards, as otherwise you will drag your delicate skin. I was pleased that the majority of the mask was able to come away in one large piece, but a few of the areas around my eyebrows and hairline broke away. However, these were easily washed away with warm water and then I rinsed my face with cold to close the pores. I was surprised to see that a few of my eyebrows were embedded in the discarded piece of mask, so it seems I always gave myself a brow wax!
My skin felt absolutely soft and gorgeous and although I did not experience any adverse reactions it was a little tight on either side of my mouth and below my eyes. However, that was soon remedied with an application of my favourite face cream. I felt my skin looked radiant and I've been setting aside some "me time" every Wednesday and Sunday for the past two weeks. Whilst I cannot state if the mask actually does rid my face of impurities, particularly as I use other beauty products, it most definitely gave me the feel good factor and I will continue to use this product time and time again.
There is a little precautionary information on the rear of the sachet, which states that the product should be kept out of reach of children and not applied to sensitive or broken skin. Montagne Jeunesse recommend we carry out an irritancy test prior to use, but to be honest I didn't bother with this. The empty sachet can be recycled once empty. We are also advised that natural ingredients may vary in colour and when I studied the long list of ingredients I learned that the mask contains jasmine, black walnut and evening primrose.
There are two images on the rear of the sachet to advise that the product has been approved by the Vegetarian Society and as I did not recognise the other image, namely a rabbit with the wording "BUAV Approved" located below I decided to carry out a little research. I learned that the letters stand for British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, so you have the assurance that no animals were harmed in order for you to use this product.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough and would advise that you can purchase Montagne Jeunesse Peel-Off Masque for 99p per 10ml sachet. However, if you're lucky enough to have a Home Bargains store near you, at the time of writing (18 October 2010) you can buy 3 sachets from them for £2.
As this is a fabulous anti-stressing product and perfect for your much needed "me time" it gets a full 5 stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
