After reading a lot of reviews around and about on these face masks it was only natural that I'd go buy one and yesterday browsing around Superdrug I grabbed my chance and grabbed one!
Theres's many different one's, I really didn't know what to choose but I really fancied one that offers me skin warming in this weather so that's the one I chose!
What It Is...
Montage Jennesse Sauna Mask, Red Hot earth, Anti Stress for Normal, Oily and T-Zone skin offering deep pore cleansing.
Montage Jennesse believe products should be made with the minimum of processing using only natural ingredients derived from plant and mineral sources. Many products are dairy free.
The believe in scrutinizing all product materials to assess their environmental impact and where possible, to use packaging that can be recycled.
In producing products that are vegetarian certified, not tested on animals. Many are suitable for vegans. So you know what you are getting - no chemicals and absolutely nothing nasty.
It is a 15g, plastic 'tear' sachet. The front of it is the same as on the photo at the top of this review. It tells me it is new & improved and lets me know what it is and who is by and all in looks very nice. On the back it tells me it is vegetarian and against animal testing! Finally! It then explains what it is and what it does exactly and then how to use it and the ingredients and a woman is in a couple of photos looking right chilled out wearing one of these!
What It Does....
It's a self-heating, red clay Sauna Mask that warms on contact with damp skin to remove deep-rooted impurities, clear excess oils and cleanse pores, leaving skin soft, smooth and radiant. The aromatherapy olis in this are an aid to relaxation.
Thoroughly cleanse face with warm water only, leave wet. Apply masque evenly to face and neck, avoiding eyes & lips, leave on face for 5 minutes to experience the immediate warming effect and let the aromatherapy oils relax and d-stress you. Rinse with water, pat dry. Use twice weekly.
Test sensitivity to natural oils, apply a small amount of product to inside of wetted upper arm, leave for 5 minutes. If reaction occurs do not use. Natural ingredients may vary in colour. Keep out of reach of small children. External use only. Not for use with babies or small children.
Propylene glycol, Zeolite, Kaolin, Glycerin, Propylparaben, Parfum (fragrance), Cereus grandiflorus (cactus flowers), Oenothera biennis (evening primrose), Panax ginseng (ginseng), Jasminum officinale (jasmine), Citrus aurantifolia (lime flowers), Juglans nigra (walnut kernals), Cl 26100 (D&C Red No. 17), Cl 60725 (D&C Violet No. 2).
Well I did as I was told (for once lol ) I applied it to a wet face as I was splayed out in the bathtub. I had little tea light candles, a cup of tea and lots of hot water and Andrea Bocelli singing out in the distance. I really went to town to get this masque to de stress me as I'm the first to admit I'm a bit strung out at the minute lol
So with this product I had highs and lows. I was impressed at how easy it was to get out of the sachet. I know this seems silly but I don't know about anyone else but I really struggle with these things and they won't tear for me and I usually end up having to rip them open with my teeth thus ending up with stuff all over me! However take a tip. Open it, push the product as far up the sachet as possible and then squeeze it out with one hand on to the other. I didn't and I did end up with drips everywhere lol
The product is a good consistancy, not too runny. Its a bright pink smooth liquid and I thought I could smell oranges but that was my nose playing tricks on me as it doesnt contain oranges it must've been the lime I could smell.
On application It went on hot. It was weird cos first I put the liquid on my hands and they never went hot but as soon as it touched my face it felt really warm, but that only lasted about 3 seconds along with the smell that evaporated. The liquid was smooth as silk and glided on my face really evenly. I had enough for my neck as well and what was left on my hands from the mess I'd caused previously I rubbed into both and let it go to work on my them too lol
I left the masque on for about 10 minutes instead of the 5. Don't think it was due to the natural oils I felt relaxed and was de-stressing.I think it was more likely that I was shattered after 2 hours sleep last night and dreaming of Colin Firth and Michael ball. Not together, maybe in my next fantasy mmm lol As I was busy licking my lips in tune to my thoughts I noticed that this masque didnt taste foul. I mean I wouldn't recommend opening it up and eating it with a spoon but it isnt like yuk... help lol It tastes citrusy and sweet and just well natural really.
After bathing I dried my face and looked in the mirror. Yes my skin did look clean as I would expect it too anyway. My skin didnt fell any softer, in fact no change at all I still needed my toner to wipe my face as soon as I came out the bath as my face had my usual problem of feeling tight when I got out the bath.
I'm not that impressed. For me it was a bit of a mess and I had no effects whilst using it and none to see afterwards. I like the promise and I like the way its Vegan and not tested on anilmals and that I certainly had no adverse effects to the product but maybe this masque is just not the one out of the range best suited for me. I shall continue to try the other masques though.
To me 99p an application isn't expensive and I usually pay alot more than that. However if 99p is expensive for one use to you then I dont recommend it and would say buy something with a lot of applications for a couple of quid instead as this isnt that special and its quite run of the mill really. Maybe I expect too much as I get more out of my Soap & Glory Scrub your nose in it face scrub and masque so I'm really used to a high quality.
99p Superdrug. Can be found in lots of decent chemists and some supermarkets.
