Advantages: Smells absolutely stunning, easy to use and thoroughly cleanses the skin
Disadvantages: None for me
I have a real passion for beauty products and will enjoy an hour of me time every Sunday afternoon when I will chill out and pamper myself with various lotions and potions; one of which is always a face mask. A brand that I have been using for many years is the South Wales based Montagne Jeunesse, as they host an array of exciting and fun beauty products, which are suitable for a variety of skin types. I recently received a surprise package from a kind and thoughtful friend, which included some face masks that I hadn't tried before. My friend couldn't have sent me a more suited product, particularly as my skin type is T-zone where I suffer with oily patches on my forehead and nose with dry areas on my cheeks. Consequently, I welcomed the opportunity to pamper myself with something new with this review discussing my experience with using T-Zone Peel Off.
For those consumers who are familiar with this fun loving brand you will be aware of the quirky and visually appealing foil type sachets, which always display a smiling female who wears the product on her face. T-Zone Peel Off is a new addition to the brand's face mask range with the concept differing to their other products, as the 10 ml sachet offers two stages. The first consists of the peel of face mask, which is described as "purifying" and it is contained within the lower section of the sachet. The mask is easy to access by carefully tearing along the section containing the small inverted "v" shape. As directed, I thoroughly cleansed my face beforehand and applied the pale green coloured product, which offered a gel consistency. It offered a considerably strong tea tree aroma, which is something I adore in addition to the fact that it offers highly beneficial properties where the natural oil is used as an antiseptic to treat an array of skin conditions.
The mask was easily applied and just as I had anticipated due to the tea tree content, I experienced slight stinging, particularly on my cheeks, which can often become a little dry especially in the colder weather. However, the sensation caused my no discomfort and dispersed after a few minutes; after which my face felt wonderfully cool and as instructed, I proceeded to settle down and relax for the suggested 15 - 20 minutes, whilst the blend of natural ingredients worked their magic with my skin. Due to the 10 ml sachet containing two stages, I found the peel off mask to be sufficient for one application whereas the 10 ml sachets generally offer a little too much product.
I love the slight tingling sensation offered by peel of mask, which was evident on areas of my cheeks and chin after approximately ten minutes of application. The reverse of the packaging states that the mask also contains Canadian Willowherb, which is an ingredient I had never heard of before. Consequently, a little research informed me that its juices are used in many skin products due to its highly effective soothing properties. In combination with the tea tree and witch hazel, Montagne Jeunesse claims that the mask will grab dirt and assist in clearing impurities as well as targeting any problem areas. As with the majority of peel off masks, after ten minutes or so, I was able to feel it drying in certain areas with the entire mask taking around twenty minutes to fully dry.
I find the process of removing face mask extremely therapeutic especially when they come off in one piece although I find this almost impossible with nearly all of those I've tried, as I end up picking out small pieces from my eyebrows. Whilst my skin isn't problematic as far as spots are concerned, I am prone to suffering with black heads, particularly beneath my nose and above my upper lip. Consequently, I favour using face masques in addition to scrubs, as they are effective at drawing out dirt and impurities. I found T-Zone Peel Off to be highly effective for this purpose, as my skin felt clean and fresh after using in addition to offering a healthy and radiant appearance. However, these types of face masques can often leave my skin feeling a little dry and tight and whilst I regularly use moisturising products I was intrigued to try out the second stage of the sachet, which was a moisturiser. The ingredients lists for both stages are clearly displayed on the lower section of the sachet and whilst I do not intend copying them into my review, I would advise that in addition to a host of natural ingredients, the moisturiser contains glycerine and jojoba seed oil.
The fluffy white moisturiser was of a good consistency and its aroma was similar to the face mask although slightly more subtle. There was a little too much for one application, so rather than waste any I applied liberally where it was easily spread over the surface of my skin. I found the cream to be fast absorbing and very comforting, particularly as it offered instant relief to the slight dry and tight sensation offered by the face masque. Despite the cream offering a high level of hydration, it did not leave any sticky or greasy residue on the surface of my skin. My skin felt soft and smooth to the touch as well as being fully moisturised. I thoroughly enjoyed using T-Zone Peel Off, as it was highly effective as well as being the perfect accompaniment for my pampering experience.
Montagne Jeunesse does not test any of their products on animals and they are BUAV approved in addition to being a member of the Vegetarian Standard and the relevant logos are displayed on the reverse of the packaging. T-Zone Peel Off is slightly more expensive than ordinary face masques as it retails at £1.49 as opposed to around the pound mark. However, in stores such as Superdrug, Boots and Amazon, the brand can regularly be found on promotion where three products can generally be purchased for the price of two.
Due to the reasons discussed above, T-Zone Peel Off receives five stars from me together with a high recommendation.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
