Advantages: Smells gorgeous and left my skin feeling beautifully cleansed as well as soft and smooth

Disadvantages: A little too much in the sachet for a single use

As my job can be both stressful and demanding I frequently find it very difficult to relax and chill out when I'm at home, as my mind constantly seems to be working overtime. However, for the past few years I have set aside a quiet hour, which I will generally enjoy on a Sunday when I will shut myself away and pamper myself with a variety of beauty products. My sessions will always consist of a face mask with my favourite brand being the South Wales based Montagne Jeunesse. I have tried dozens of their facial products over the years; the majority of which I have enjoyed using. As my husband is fully aware of my passion for chilling out with pampering sessions, for my birthday a couple of months ago he presented me with a small selection of various face masques with this review discussing Virgin Olive.

If you are familiar with Montagne Jeunesse you will be aware that they offer a huge range of face masques that are presented in curvy shaped foil sachets, which are generally 15g in weight. As far as I am concerned, there are no contenders within the face masque market as Montagne Jeunesse are always in the forefront with their various products dominating the shelves of some of the major supermarkets. Their marketing strategy is spot on with their colourful and quirky packaging, which displays a happy female who wears bright lipstick with her face plastered in the product and her eyes laden with a selection of the ingredients.

As the name would suggest, Virgin Oil has been created with olive oil and I was initially a little apprehensive about using, particularly as I suffer with T-zone skin where my forehead and nose are prone to oiliness. Virgin Oil is a fairly new addition to Montagne Jeunesse's face masque range and whilst the majority of their older products specify the skin types for which they are suited, unfortunately, there is no information contained on the Virgin Oil sachet. Tempted by the various images of the packaging together with the claim of ultra deep cleansing, I decided to go ahead and use the masque. As directed by the few images and minimal text on the reverse of the sachet I thoroughly cleansed my skin and easily opened the sachet by way of the perforations on the upper section.

The consistency was very similar to that of a clay mask and it was easily spread and applied to my skin with its vivid green colour transforming my face into a Kermit the Frog lookalike. The most prominent aroma was that of the cocoa butter, which was evident as soon as I opened the packet where it offered a slight creamy sweetness to the face mask, which I found very favourable. Unfortunately, Montagne Jeunesse pack too much product into the sachets and I would prefer them to offer a little less weight with the price tag adjusted accordingly, particularly as there was too much for one single use, but not enough for a further use.

Within just a few minutes of application I could feel a slight tightening sensation around my chin, which is a feeling that I love, as I find it so relaxing and I continued to chill out and relax whilst the face mask continued to work its magic, which according to Montagne Jeunesse, is in approximately 15 - 20 minutes when the product is dry. The gorgeous aroma remained evident throughout my entire pampering experience whereas a few other products I have tried begin to fade away rather quickly. As the time proceeded the mask continued to cause tightness as it dried on my skin and after twenty minutes I began to wash it away and as I anticipated it took a little effort especially as it had grained into areas such as my hair line and eyebrows. Once fully removed I splashed my skin with cold water to tighten the pores and applied a little skin toner.

I enjoy using face masks, as after rinsing they offer a radiant appearance to my skin and I feel that the majority are effective at lifting any grease and grime that has worked its way into the pores. Virgin Oil did not disappoint, as in addition to providing effective cleansing properties the surface of my skin offered a wonderfully silky soft and smooth texture due to the shea and cocoa butter content and the delicate aroma of cocoa gently lingered on the surface of my skin for a good while after using. I favoured the fact that my skin also felt moisturised, which is not always the case with face masks as they can often be a little drying.

A point I favour with Montagne Jeunesse products is that they are packed full of natural ingredients and whilst I do not intend copying the lengthy list of ingredients into my review, those that caught my eye are natural clay, shea butter, olive oil, cocoa butter and dead sea mud. It is very rare that I suffer any adverse reactions when using any of Montagne's face masques and I cannot report of suffering any issues with using Virgin Oil. The company are animal friendly with the BUAV Approved and Vegetarian Standard logos clearly displayed on the reverse of the sachet.

I can highly recommend Virgin Oil, as it served its purpose well and whilst it didn't transform me into a super model, my skin felt wonderfully soft and smooth as well as moisturised. The Montagne Jeunesse face mask range can be found in stores such as Boots, Superdrug, Asda and Home Bargains or directly from the company's website. A single sachet generally retails at around 99p, but I purchase my products when they are on offer where I can obtain three for the price of two. Due to the reasons discussed above, I feel a five star rating is appropriate.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
