Advantages: Leaves complexion smooth and deep clean, Inexpensive, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Best done in private
Here I am now, a week before the event, having a close look at what has happened over the past year. I do know that am lucky in that very little has moved southwards as long as I remember to breath in. That leaves the bit above the neck to concentrate on and try not to get depressed about. After all I don't want to add any frown lines to what is left.
So, if I want to make my entrance to surprised approval, I must start now. Here is where I could not be without my Mudd Original Mask. The large matt white tube with brown and white lettering I am looking at now is a new one. I have only had it since last year's Christmas "do". Inside is a dark grey natural clay which smells of just that but a little fresher. Mudd Original Mask is 100% pure clay (I can't find where it originates from) containing special minerals. I am to
ld that it absorbs excess oil and the dirt and makeup which can remain embedded in the skin. For this reason it will keep spots at bay. It is a pleasant easily spread consistancy which will not clog the pores. An added bonus is that it does not contain lanolin and is not tested on animals, and I care about these things. It is supposed to tone and tighten the skin, and it certainly does for me.
This is quite a mystery product actually. One of those items which may be found just about anywhere for a pretty utility price, yet is not advertised in mud coloured letters on huge billboards or with annoying frequency on our tv screens. It has been around for years now; not much talked about, just sitting waiting in Boots or your local chemist for when it is needed.
Although I shall use it tonight, the real value to me will be next week before I get ready to go out, as it will give a perfect surface for my make up. The foundation I use will slide on easily and smoothly (without sliding off the other side) and will leave a good base on which it will stay without in any way caking during the evening.
It is best to use the mask an hour before applying cosmetics. I have occasionally found that my complexion looks a little high after use if only for a few minutes. This is apparently an increase in circulation. First wet your face with a warm flannel and blot dry. That feels nice for a start. With fingertips, apply the Mask over the entire face, but leave the eye area. We know, don't we girls, that the skin beneath the eyes must not be stretched? Leave on for 10 - 15 minutes, during which time you will feel the Mudd set and tighten. Unlike the face masks of old, not too much damage will be done to the effect if you smile, but I try not to. Ten to fifteen minutes isn't as bad as it sounds if you do a little dooyooing while you wait. It does make a cigarette or a cup of tea taste funny though.
r that it is important that this treatment is completed in private. It does nothing for the self esteem or your glamourous self image, to wander into the kitchen, nicely Mudd Masked, just as BF or hubby is making a cup of tea. Your comment that "It's not that funny!" will only make them crease up even more.
Once time is up (10 minutes does for me) soften with a damp cloth and rinse off. Easier still is to lose it in the shower. The complexion feels marvelous. I know my skin will feel smooth and soft without any dryness or, equally, any oily shine...... a perfect canvas for all the colours and brushes waiting to be applied. All I need to do after that is put on the new little black number. The final annual vanity will be to leave off my specs, so someone will have to read the menu for me.
I am out of date with the price, but sachets are generally less than a pound and my 80ml tube was very easy on the purse.
