So I spotted a 45ml sample of this Vitamin C cleanser attached to the front of this month's Marie Claire magazine, the sucker that I am for beauty products I had to put in my trolley.
I had never heard of the brand Murad before. After Googling, I found out that Murad is a big beauty and cosmetic brand; according to their website, when Dr. Murad began to develop formulas to help patients with specific concerns, he looked to basic tenants of The Science of Cellular Water and discovered three common issues that had to be addressed in order to optimize skin health, regardless of a patient's skin concern: hydration, inflammation and oxidation. Through a "recipe" of ingredients that addresses these issues, Murad products improve and preserve the strength of the cell membrane which is the foundation upon which healthy beautiful skin is built. Murad Vitamin C cleanser aims to cleanse without stripping skin of vital moisture, whilst soothing environmentally stressed skin and gently removes impurities.
This cleanser is available direct from Murad, online or from Murad salons which are dotted around the country. It is priced at £34 for a 200ml or £10 for the 45ml which I received free with Marie Claire!
The packaging is simple and transparent so the cleanser can be seen through the tube. The cleanser is colourless with small orange beads of orange peel oil contained within. The cleanser has a fairly runny consistency -it is in-between a gel and water, so it can be easy to over -dispense this product! The cleanser has a lovely mild smell of orange which is not synthetic or overpowering.
When the cleanser is applied to wet skin it feels fresh and soothing on the skin, along with the fragrance it really does give you an uplifting feeling. The cleanser is light and is easily massaged over the skin, due to the consistency it glides over the skin, without lathering. At first I thought that the orange balls would exfoliate my skin in someway, when in actual fact they instantly dissolve on the skin when massaged. My make-up is visibly being lifted from my skin as I massage this over my face and I can take this over my eyes, without any irritation, to lift off non-waterproof mascara.
This cleanser is easily washed off my face and my skin looks clean and fresh. My make-up has been removed effectively without stripping my skin of moisture; my face doesn't feel tight or irritated. I think my skin does look brighter after using this too, which can't be a bad thing!
Overall, this product achieves all of its aims and it leaves my skin looking clean and bright without feeling dry. I really like it, but I'm not sure I could justify spending the £34 price tag, especially I as I bought the sample for such a low cost. I would recommend people to try use this, but via Marie Claire! I think I will be stocking up on a few samples before the issue is withdrawn ;) Due to the price I will award this 4 stars.
