~Nourishing Orange Flower Night Cream~
Neal's Yard Remedies offer a wide selection of beauty products created using a range of natural, organic products which have not been tested on animals.
This night cream is aimed at those who have dry skin. It contains a blend of pomegranate, seabuckthorn oil, wild rosehip and orange flower which combined, help to soften, smooth and nourish dry skin. Also included are essential oils such as neroli and mandarin. It is rich in antioxidants, dermatologically and clinically tested and is suitable for those who have sensitive skin.
This night cream is presented in a simple and slightly 'medicinal' looking blue pot with a screw top lid.
~Where To Buy~
A 50g pot is of this night cream is currently available from www.nealsyardremedies.com priced at £23.75. There is a wide selection of complimenting products available.
My sister is a huge fan of the Neal's Yard brand. When we were speaking a few weeks ago, I mentioned (or hinted to be fair) that I had ran out of night cream. Being a super big sis, she raided her stash of tubes and bottles and located two travel sized tubes of this night cream for me. I have used one so far and have moved on to the second tube so thought I should discuss my opinion of this rather pricy night cream.
It is fair to say that my facial skin is dry to very dry. My cheeks, chin and nose area are prone to light dryness but my forehead becomes terribly dry and I need to cleanse, tone and moisturise to make it less awful looking. I like to apply a night cream before bed to work through my skin as I sleep. I have tried various brands and find that often the cheaper brands are just as good as the premium brands. I would say that at over £20 a pot, this is a premium night cream.
~Nourish Me Neal!~
This night cream has a rich and creamy consistency which is exactly what I expect of a night cream. It feels thick as I spread it across my skin but it does start to melt and become easier to spread very quickly. Only a small amount is needed. I apply this after cleansing my face at night and no matter how much I massage it in to my face, a slightly sticky residue remains on the surface of my skin which leaves it looking quite shiny. I don't personally mind a night cream doing this as I don't need to apply make up over the top.
This night cream doesn't have the most appealing scent despite being packed full of essential oils. As I apply it, I notice a sort of chemical scent but this disappears quickly and the cream takes on a more subtle, slightly citrus scent which has a plasticky undertone to it. -Once applied to my skin, I am aware that this night cream is there as it feels quite heavy on my skin. It is gentle and hasn't caused any irritation to my already sensitive skin but doesn't soothe it or make it more 'comfortable' in any way.
The first time I used this night cream, I wasn't impressed with the results. My skin felt sticky and the dry patches on my forehead felt rough and not at all moisturised. This night cream doesn't have cooling or soothing effect either so the instant 'hydrated' feel isn't noticeable. I left it on my skin and let it get to work. By the morning, most of my skin did feel lovely, soft and smooth to the touch and I continued to use it each night. I would say that it provides a good but not amazing amount of nourishment to my dry skin - I still feel the need to apply a day cream the next morning as the effects of this night cream won't tide me over for the whole day ahead.
I know that no cream will ever make my skin perfect but I haven't been completely overjoyed by this night cream. It doesn't provide enough moisturisation to the extra dry areas of my skin which is disappointing. It works fine on the surface of my skin but not deep down.
This isn't my favourite night cream as I feel that it doesn't perform any better than a No7 or even a Johnson's night cream. It may contain more natural and organic ingredients but it I feel that it isn't as impressive enough to be worthy of the high cost. I would expect that a 50g pot would last quite a while even when used daily as my tubes have lasted well. There are definitely better and cheaper night creams on the market so I don't think I will be buying a full sized pot when I have finished using my tubes up.
