Advantages: Luxurious, gorgeous scent, Lasts a long time. A little goes a long way. Ideal for mature dry skin.
Disadvantages: Might not suit all skin types, it is an oil after all....
Initially a gift from a friend I soon realised Neals Yard Rose Facial Oil would be a permanent presence on my toiletry shelf. The scent is subtle but deliciously of real rose - a bit of luxury for every day.
It feels and smells wonderful and makes my skin feel soft and smooth. It is especially aimed at aging skin (like mine - sadly) or areas that need special care.
We all love to feel pampered and indulge in a little luxury once in a while. This Rose Oil IS a luxury- but its effect so crucial to my skin care that its for everyday too. The deep blue glass bottle is stylish too - very clever packaging; adding to the sense of quality. One bottle I bought via mail order leaked in transit to me, despite the seal around the lid being in place - the bottle top can't have been secured properly when packaged at the manufacturer.
As well as rose oil it contains patchouli (but not that very strong scent I remember from my youth in the 1970's that could knock someone down at 50 paces!) and hazelnut, which is full of vitamin E.
Each bottle has the essence of over 150 roses.
This is a lovely combination of soothing feel and pleasant fragrance with a delicate touch. My skin has definitely improved since I have used it each day for several years.
It moisturises and soothes and is particulalrly effective if used on warm damp skin after a bath or shower. I've been using it each morning for a few years. I stroke it on after washing my face and before applying tinted moisturiser and cannot now imagine not using it daily.
Recently I discovered that if you dab it on delicate skin after exfoliating or shaving even, it is very soothing and calming and stops the irritation. But only use a very little...
Oil-based products aren't perfect for everyone, but if your skin type isn't too oily this one might suit you.
I have previously bought these 50ml glass bottles direct from Neals Yard - their mail order service is very efficient. However, the postage charges are quite high (£4.00 for orders under £100) so I now buy from from the good selection of Neals Yard product at www.purplesunrise.com - whose postage costs are MUCH less (£1.50) and card payment options more comprehensive. The list price is currently £11.50 - £11.99 for a 50ml glass bottle depending where you buy it.
Neals Yard products are also avaiable from some shops. Check out your local high street.
A 50ml bottle lasts for months and doesn't lose its scent - you just need to dab a fingertip on the bottle opening and thats enough for each application.
A very worthwhile investment into a daily beauty regime particularly if your skin is not as young as it used to be and drying a little.
It always feels good to have some of Neals Yard products. Its a bit like Christmas or a birthday. I know they're quite expensive but some of their products are too good to only have as a treat. This is one of those.
One note of caution - even though the lid is screwed down and sealed under cellophone when you buy it - it CAN leak. Keep it upright!
Summary: Feels gorgeous, smells lovely and good effect on my skin.
