As previously mentioned. I won a goodie bag from a competition over Christmas-time, of which there were various products from the Nelsons Pure & Clear range.
Please do check back on some of my other reviews for further information and products, but in this instance I am telling you about Nelsons Pure & Clear Purifying Daily Facial Wash, anti-blemish care.
This was the first product from the range that I tried and I really must say that I am highly impressed. Obviously I did not pay for this product, but after checking online I have found that you can buy it from around £3.80 upwards, more generally it is around the £7 mark.
The Manufacturers instructions state two ways of using this facial wash - The standard way being that you should use twice a day, morning and evening. Make sure your skin is damp and using your finger tips massage it into the skin, using circular movements and avoiding the eye area.
So I tried it out, when in the bath. Firstly I was surprised at the texture of the facial wash, it is a quite thick, clear gel. The product comes in an upside down tube, with a flip lid, so easy to use when you are in the bath - and wet! I squeezed a blob into the palm of my hand and the first thing I was aware of was the smell of it. The smell of tea tree was very strong, it certainly has a medicated scent to it, rather than a beauty product scent. The smell is not unpleasant, and like the other products in the range, the smell does go away within a minute or two.
I squeezed our an average sized blob onto my hand, possibly about a tea spoons worth and then massaged it into my face. Very quickly I realised that the amount of gel I had used was quite possibly twice as much as I actually needed as it massaged in easily and foamed up quickly - so, mental note to myself made at that point, when I next use it, use half as much.
The facial wash rinsed off easily - and when my face was dry, again - like the other products in the range I was pleasantly surprised as to how squeaky clean my skin felt. It felt clean, it felt soft and I was overall very happy with the outcome.
The other way that the manufacturer suggests you use the product is a tip on their website. They suggest that if you would like a deeper cleanse and exfoliation then you should soak a flannel in warm water and hold it over your face, allowing your pores to open up before you then massage the facial wash into your skin. Then use the warm flannel with circular movements to cleanse the skin, making sure that you thoroughly rinse your skin afterwards and use cool water to close the pores. I haven't tried this as yet, but this sounds like something my skin would benefit from.
The product contains a seaweed base, the scent of lavender (which I couldn't smell personally) essential oils and Arnica, Calendula, Hypericum and Tea Tree oil. Seaweed is a natural antioxidant and exfoliate, which help to remove dead cells and leave the skin feeling refreshed.
I have become a fan - I love the way my skin feels after using this, It feels clean and fresh and I will defiantly be buying this again. I can see this tube however lasting a good couple months as you only need such a small amount each time you use it.
It comes in a 125ml tube, the manufacturers advise that you use it in conjunction with other products in the range - this may have its benefits, but I find it a great facial wash, even as a stand alone product.
This is a review of Nelsons Pure & Clear Purifying Daily Facial Wash, a product I have been using for a few weeks since receiving a full sized sample in a beauty box.
What is it?
A tube of face wash designed as 'anti-blemish care' made from pure and natural plant extracts. It has a natural seaweed base with tea tree, arnica, hypericum and calendula so this anti-blemish and blackhead formula leaves skin the way nature intended - pure and clear.
The 125ml tube has a flip cap top which enables you to squeeze out just the right amount each time. It stands on its head so the product is ready and waiting. Around the tube is a large white label which shows the nelsons branding clearly plus information about the ingredients and expected results of using this face wash.
I use a 50p sized blob and massage it in to my face before rinsing thoroughly. The first thing I notice is the highly medicated smell of the product, which is the tea tree ingredient. It is not unpleasant and quite refreshing on the face. It is not strong enough to cause a tingle, and I didn't find this product foamed up on the face particularly but it did leave my face feeling clean. I really felt like my skin needed moisturising straight after use which is not a problem as I always moisturise after cleansing anyway. I still used my cream cleanser prior to using this face wash to remove make up. I have had no break outs or adverse effects after using this product.
I don't always use a face wash, feeling that cream cleanser is adequate to clean my face but I wasn't adverse to using this when I received it in a beauty box. I don't particularly suffer from spots or blackheads other than the odd one so perhaps I am not the ideal customer this brand targets. I like the natural ingredients and feel comforted that I am not using any harsh ingredients on my skin.
I had to look up the price of this having received mine as a sample although it was full sized. The cheapest price I found was £3.66 on Amazon with free postage which I think is a good price for this item.
I have found this a great skin care product to use and will also be using it to clean my make up brushes when I get round to it as I feel it is gentle enough to do the job with the extra advantage of the cleansing properties which is better than using a chemically based cleaner. I am interested to try other products from the very affordable Nelson's range and will be looking out for them in the future. A recommended face wash.
