THE PRODUCT _____________ Today Im writing about the Neutrogena visibly clear range, that is especially formulated for acné prone skin. Lets look at the toner. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Toner is a unique cleanser which is made especially to help eliminate and prevent blackheads. It works deep down to remove dirt and oil trapped in your pores, removing the impurities that can lead to blackheads. It contains a powerful blackhead-fighting ingredient to help eliminate and prevent blackheads. Skin is left visibly cleaner and clearer. How to Use Apply to a cotton pad and wipe over the neck and face, avoiding the delicate eye area. Do not rinse. For best results use one or two times daily. It can be found in most chemists and supermarkets. I bought mine from Boots, where currently its on sale for 2.49 GBP insted of 3.99 GBP for a 200ml bottle. MY EXPERIENCE _______________ I bought this product after researching online for the best acné skin treatments as I have troublesome skin that gets worse in Winter. I really wanted a whole package of products that is specially formulated for acné and came upon this one on the internet. It sounded really good and wasnt going to break the bank with each product ranging from 3-7GBP. So I bought a daily wash, a toner and a mosturizer. The packaging is very simply for this product and all of this range has the same orange, White and black labels. I found this great so I could easily recognise what products are in the range. The bottle is clear and rectangular with rounded edges. The cap is a click cap that is on a Little hinge and has a small hole which is slightly elevated. This is where the product comes out. On the back of the package there are very clear instructions and tips to use the product (as detailed above). Using the product is very easy. you tip the bottle up and the liquid comes out. The liquid is a water like liquid and is clear. It can come out in small drips if you tip is up but if you squeeze it it does come out much faster. The smell is very strong on this toner, it makes my eyes water every time I use it! It smells like alcohol. Its not unpleasant but I wish it smelt a bit weaker. It does also make open spots sting a little but not for long It is instantly absorbed onto the skin without leaving any residue or colour and afterwards my face goes all tingly in a nice way. THE EFFECT ____________ I have been using this product now, once a day for the last month, along with the other products in the range, the mosturizer and the daily wash and I am seeing a big improvement in my skin. It hasnt cleared it yet and I dont think it will help the scarring any but Im not getting any new blemishes and my skin looks brighter and more matte than before I used the product. MY OPINION ___________ I like this toner a lot, its quick and easy. It is absorbed instantly so I can get dressed or go to bed without losing any time. I like the simpleness of the bottle and the fact it is see through so I can see how much I have left. In a month I have used a quarter of the bottle which means it should last around 4 months. I think that's great value for money, even at the full Price. Its a shame it smells so strong but I guess that because its a strong product, and I wished it did help with scarring but you cant always have everything in one bottle hey!? Im giving it 4 out of 5 because I have seen improvement and it doesn't dry out my skin. I would recommend it to acné sufferers however I would avoid it if you have more sensitive skin as I think the solutions is strong. Thanks for Reading and rating. AmyBoo
I've never had the best skin, so for the past 6 weeks I have been on 'Mission: Nice Skin'. My skin always goes through stages of being spotty and this was one of the first things I purchased for my latest mission. The first part of the mission was online research to see what the best option was to get better skin, amongst many things the one thing that kept popping up most was try and drink the recommended 8 pints of water a day - boring, getting lots of healthy foods such as vegetables. I took it amongst myself to purchase green tea, with the goal in sight I planned a day and stuck it out after purchasing 'Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Toner' from Boots for around £3. It comes in a clear bottle, with the liquid itself also being clear. The 'Neutrogena' label is on the front with their usual orange and grey colours. It claims on the bottle to "have a special blackhead eliminating ingredient to make spots harder to form". When the lid is removed it has a small hole in the bottle cap which the liquid can be poured from easily, without much chance of making a mess. The liquid itself smells rather appealing, a slight bit of floral, cucumber and a citrusy smell. I would describe the smell as fresh. I started using the product twice, daily with a cotton pad. For the first week I poured the pad until it was all wet, and rubbing all around the main affected areas, I did this after showering or washing my face. It does sting a little when you put so much on, but after a week I cut down until I only poured it on the cotton pad until half was filled. On the pad you can see dirt afterwards which does make you think you should use products like this as part of your daily routine regardless. When I started using half the amount after the first week, it didn't sting when applied, you could tell you'd used it but it wasn't uncomfortable or an annoying feeling. My skin did feel a lot smoother straight after it dried (which also doesn't take very long) After using the product for 6 weeks now along with the recommended 8 pints of water a day, eating more vegetables, cutting down of my daily sugar intake and drinking more green tea; I have definitely seen a huge improvement, my spots have all gone, my skin feels and looks healthier. The price is good, and I will definitely continue buying this product.
I am currently trying to 'revamp' my skin, as it is looking really dull and in bad condition. I'm not sure if this is due to the extreme weather or me wearing quite heavy make up most days (probably the latter). I am doing this by making a big effort to drink 8 glasses of water a day (harder than it sounds!), having make up free days, and making sure my skin is cleansed, toned, and moisturised both morning and night. To do this I have purchased products from the Neutrogena Visibly Clear range to give my skin a bit of a kick start. Today is my review of the 'blackhead eliminating toner'. I have combination skin, dry cheeks and forehead, oily nose and chin. I don't get many spots anymore, as a teenager I used to suffer quite badly, but think I have luckily outgrown that stage. I still do get occasional breakouts, and have a few in the oily areas. I never used to tone my skin, but after doing a lot of research into ways to make my skin healthier, I have learnt that toning has a very important part to play. For anyone who doesn't know, it closes the pores after cleansing, which not only results in smaller pores, but will also make it harder for bacteria to get into the pores and cause breakouts. With this in mind I purchased the 'blackhead eliminating toner'. This was £3.50 for 200ml from Asda. This comes in a clear bottle and is clear in colour, with the Neutrogena label on the front in the standard orange and grey colours. This product can also be used as a cleanser on it's own, but doubles up as a toner also. It claims to have a special blackhead eliminating ingredient to make spots harder to form. I use this after cleansing my face with the visibly clear scrub. I dry my face, and using the rough side of a cotton pad, pour some onto the pad until about half of it is saturated, about two short 'pours' will do this. It is worth noting this product just has a hole in the bottle cap to release the product so it can come out quite fast at times. I wipe this across my face, in upward motions, and wait for it to dry (takes a few seconds) before applying my moisturiser. I often find once I have use this after cleansing there is nearly always some 'dirt' on the pad, which means it is really clearing my skin. When using this toner I find it can be quite strong, if you are used to gentle toners this isn't for you. It is not as harsh as the Clinique one is but you can definitely feel it working. Saying that it doesn't feel unpleasant across the skin. It doesn't make my skin feel tight or dry it out, and leaves a nice soft finish to the skin. It has a pleasant smell to it, not dissimilar to the rest of the product range. It is very fresh smelling, sort of cucumber and slightly floral (I am rubbish at describing smells, so won't attempt to much!). Does it work? I have been using this for 3 weeks and have seen a definite improvement to my skin, and have seen the number of spots/blackheads reduce. This could be down to this product, but I think drinking a lot of water, wearing less foundation, and generally looking after my skin has helped with this also. However, for the price I will be definitely repurchasing this. I find it as good as the Clinique toner I used to use, and seems to work well with my skin.
I'm a big fan of Neutrogena skin care I find that their products really work for my skin type. I was in boots a few weeks ago and I decided to pick this up along with my regular neutrogena face wash as there was a 2 for £5 offer on Neutrogena products. The packaging is very simple and has the same white and orange colour scheme that their 'visibly clear' line has. The flip top lid is simple and practical. One thing that I think could be improved is the size of the hole, I think it should be smaller because quite a lot comes out. This toner contains an unusually high amount of Salycillic acid which is known for its acne fighting properties but it can be quite harsh on your skin so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with sensitive or dry skin. Once I applied this to my skin with a cotton wool pad I immediately noticed how strong this product is. It didn't irritate my skin but it did leave it nice and tight. After a few times using this my skin got used to how strong this toner is. Did it work? No, I can't say it did. The blackheads on my nose looked exactly the same. However since using this toner my skin hasn't broken out which is great. I will repurchase not for the blackhead fighting properties but because it helps stop my skin from breaking out and leaves my skin smooth.
I have been suffering from blackheads for many years now; this is due to my skin being oily especially around my nose area. I heard that nose pore strips were bad for your skin and could cause discolouration and scarring. I have tried squeezing them and exfoliating them but no joy. I used expensive products and gadgets but they were still looking at me in the mirror. I came across Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Cleanser 200ml (which is actually a toner) on the television, I mean the advert was appealing and I was still very sceptical and didn't think much further of it. When I was in Boots about two months ago I was stocking up on all my skin care and I came across the product. It was sitting there with its unique logo and in a clear bottle. I picked it up and it was only £3.99. I thought I might as well give it a go. What makes this product unique is the amount of Salicylic Acid. In usual circumstances the Salicylic content would be a lower in other toners but this has a rather high content. Salicylic is an exfoliant for the skin but does not have grains, so it gives you an even exfoliation. With normal exfoliating products you would have to use the product once to three times a week. However Salicylic works gradually so this is why you can use it on a daily basis. So if you have Sensitive Skin then use this product at night only as this can irritate your skin during the day. I got back home after purchasing the product, had a shower and was waiting to try my new product. When I opened the distinctive orange lid, the smell of the product was very strong like spirit that could strip paint. Initially I was quite put off by the smell but then applied a little on a cotton pad and applied it to my face. The feeling was very cool but then I felt a little bit of a stinging/tingling effect, which went away after a couple of seconds. The following day I did get the same cool sensation but without the stinging. I only use this product at night, as in the morning I use a daily face wash that has exfoliants in them and did not want to over do it. Also when you are using this product in the morning or daylight hours make sure you apply SPF after application, so your skin is protected from sun damage. On the first couple of days I found my nose (where most of my blackheads are) went dry, a little embarrassing and had to keep on putting my lip balm on it to stop the skin from looking flaky. After a couple of days the flaking skin had stopped. I have seen a little improvement but not a great amount of reduction of blackheads. May be if I combine the wash and the toner it would have better effects. One positive effect I did see was that my spot breakouts had decreased. I hardly get any spots on my face now, which is fantastic! I then went out shopping again but this time round I bought the Tweezerman Blackhead Remover. I started using the Tweezerman Blackhead Remover after my shower in conjunction with my Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Cleanser. I have seen a dramatic improvement to my blackheads, they have near enough disappeared and my pores look smaller. All in all I now have a clearer complexion. My pores are small and reduced, blackheads near enough gone, spots are not to be seen and my skin looks toned. I am actually really happy with this product, even though it didn't initially do much for the blackheads but it gave me a clearer complexion and my spots were seldom. You can purchase this product in Boots, Superdrugs and selected Chemists for £3.99.
