“ Brand: Neutrogena / Type: Face Mask / Subcategory: Cleanser / Cleanser / What it does: Cleanses / Product line: Neutrogena Deep Clean „
I have always suffered from spots and oily skin. I have tried most products on the market to try and find a way to cure this but with my job being in a dirty dusty environment for long periods of time and my skin tone being generally oily I am fighting a never ending battle.
This product costs around £4.20 for 150ml from Boots but I have found is occaionally on offer in Tescos. I saw it on the shelf and like the blue colour and the writing saying "invigorating scrub" which "cleanses deep into pores". On the back it says it is a gel which will lather into a bubbly foam giving a cooling feeling while effortlessly dissolving dirt, oil and make up. Maybe this will work. So I bought one.
It comes in a long tube which you stand on the lid so the liquid will drain down to the bottom after each use. The tube is very easy to squeeze. The liquid looks light blue with dark dots or specks throughout it. The tube is seethrough about halfway down so you can see how much is left in the tube at any time.
I open the lid which is like most shower lids, it just flips up to reveal a small circle which keeps the liquid in until you squeeze the tube. It has a very fresh smell to it. Very light and almost overpowering like it would make your eyes water if you inhaled it too deeply. I have no reason why but it reminds me of the ocean. I think this is more to do with the colour than the smell but it makes me feel relaxed either way.
It says to wet face and apply scrub by massaging gently avoiding the eye area and then rinse thoroughly. It also has a lot of what appears to be technical information about energising microbeads but I have no idea what that means.
I wet my face with warm water and put the gel onto my hands then directly onto my face. Not the best way for me. I found it felt gooey and sticky on my face. After the first few tries I have found I far prefer to wet my face with warm water then when I squeeze the gel onto my hands to add water and lather in my hands before applying to my face. This changes the feel dramatically and feels very similar to washing with soap.
My face starts to tingle but not in an unpleasant way as soon as I apply it. I can feel the little dark blue beads I could see in the light blue liquid as I massage it into my face but its doesn't feel abrasive or rough and I don't notice these after the first few seconds.
I have found you only need a relatively small amount for it to lather up. I would say about the size of a 50p coin on the palm of your hand. As directed keep well away from your eyes. I got it close to my eyes and it did make my eyes water and although it didn't sting I am very sure that direct contact with my eyes would be painful and irritating. It says dermatologically tested on the tube. I have very sensitive skin and have had allergies to some skin products in the past. This one has had no adverse effects apart from the wtering eyes if used to close to them.
I take a fair amount of time washing my face with this as it does feel like it is clearing away the dirt from my day at work. I take my time gently massaging the lather into my face as directed before washing it off with warm water.
During the wash and after it had been washed off my skin feels tingly and fresh. I definitely feel more revived and much more importantly clean after a long dirty day at work.
As for the spots and oily skin? I use this daily and for the first week my spots became worse. This didn't last much longer than a week and my skin improved dramatically after that. My skin is not as oily as it was and the clean feeling is fantastic. One tube lasts about one and a half to two months which I feel gives good value for money as I use it daily.
I love this product but the only drawback is if I wear makeup I use a different product to remove it which is suitable for use around the eyes. It doesn't appear to have any drawbacks if used before applying make up if anything I can go out without wearing much makeup as I rarely get spots anymore and my face has a healthy glow after using this product.
Persevere with this and the results are clearer healthy looking skin. I still have no idea what the microbeads are though.
As many young females I am extreamly concious about my skin care and cleansing on a regular basis. I first bought this product on holiday because i left my usual cleanser at home, the first thing that attracted me to the product was the competitive pricing, i wouldnt say it was the cheapest, but it was deffinately less expensive than what i would usually spend on a facial product.
The name 'Deep clean' draws in the typical customer who are expected to buy these sorts of products, and let me tell you it's name exaggerates exactly what the product does! By saying 'deep clean' is an understatement, it feels as though the tiny microbeads penetrate deep into the pores invigorating and energising anything in its way!
Neutrogena deep clean has a 'freeze' like feeling when rubbed onto the face which gives you a minty fresh face, you can actually feel it cleansing deep!! However when used twice a day for a few days it starts to tighten and dry out the skin, but all you need is a few pea sized blobs of moisturiser rubbed onto the skin after using the face wash and it gives your skin a beautiful cleansed soft feeling.
I would recommend this product for anyone who wants a refreshing facial wash to wake up to.
I have been using Neutrogena skin care products for quite some time now, working my way through their selection with varying degrees of success. At the time this particular item was at a reduced price and if you've read any of my other reviews you might of picked up that I am a sucker for a bargain/deal. I'll admit that the fact that the face wash could also turn into a mask was also another aspect which interested, having seen these types of gimmicks before but never having tried them.
It comes it a plastic squeezy tube with a flip top cap. It contains 150 ml of and enables you to stand it upright. Don't be fooled that this means all of the face wash will drop to the bottom because it won't. The texture is too thick so some of it will be wasted as a lot of sticks to the sides and around the base. Unless you are willing to cut the packaging in half when you think it's all gone to scoop it out a fair amount of it will be wasted. Simple instructions are given on how to use it as well but oddly enough for once not what to do if you get it in your eye. Something which I managed to do for the very first time, naturally it was pretty obvious as to how to wash it out so it wasn't a problem!
Pastel blue in colour as I have already mentioned it is quite thick, plus side being it's easy to control when getting it out of the tube. You aren't going to need too much and it isn't going to run all over the place when you have it in the palm of your hand. Aside from the possibility of wastage the only minor negative I have is that when it comes to using it isn't an easy application of getting it onto your face. The instructions say to lather it, which is something I have never managed aside from maybe a few bubbles at the most, and then to massage into your skin. A blue mess stays on your palms and so when it comes to rinsing I found myself simply putting more on my face rather than taking it off.
This product claims to wash away dirt, oil makeup and cleanse pores. Something which I can completely agree with however I cannot quite understand what the point of the mask is. Leaving it on for a further 5 minutes I didn't notice any difference from when I was just using the face wash as it was. It just made it more difficult to remove and I had to extra vigilant to make sure I didn't leave the bathroom with some of it still on my face.
The fragrance has quite a clean soapy smell and is actually quite refreshing from all of the other products which have a very overpowering perfume scent. Even your hands smell nice! On saying all of this I don't think I'd be buying this again. On the offer I managed to get 2 for £4 from Boots but now it's gone back to it's usual cost of £3.97 I don't believe it to be worth it. Yes it gives a reasonable good wash but there are other cheaper products which do just as good a job.
Nice, but not enough to buy on the full price.
I bought this product some time ago when it was on offer in Boots and have only just got round to using it - I rediscovered in in the bathroom cabinet when looking to see what I had in an effort to reduce shopping bills!
This face wash by Neutrogena can be used as a regular cleanser and as a face mask. To do the former you 'lather' it up on the face with water and for the mask you just wipe it on to your face and leave for a few minutes.
This product claims to wash away dirt, oil makeup and cleanse pores. When using it on my face I can say that it successfully removed dirt and oil leaving my skin shine free and smooth to the touch. However I immediately followed up the use of this wash with a toner which managed to remove more dirt from my face - this would seem to suggest that neutrogena's deep clean doesn't manage to get rid of all the days impurities.
When using this product on my face it makes my eyes feel a little sensitive (bearing in mind I'm not putting this on my eyes) which may be due to the acid it contains (just speculating here), so it may not be all that suitable for anyone with particularly sensitive skin or eyes.
The packaging is a squeezy tube with a flip lid. The lid sits at the base which makes it easier to squeeze out the product for use as the effects of gravity means that the product is near the lid rather than stubbornly stuck down the other end. The reverse of the packaging gives brief directions for use and a list of ingredients which could be useful if you're allergic to anything.
The cleanser itself is a pastel blue colour and has the consistency of a face mask (very thick), which I personally find makes it hard to work up into a lather. It also has a faint, but pleasant soapy smell. You only need to use a small amount of it each time so the tube, which is 150ml, should last quite some time.
Overall I probably wouldn't buy this again as it doesn't appear to be capable of removing all dirt (see comment above) and leaves me using an additional product to completely cleanse my face. However it is by no means a bad face wash/mask (there are plenty of worse ones on the market) and I would say it is more effective when used in it's capacity as a mask.
This is and has been the best daily cleanser I have ever used.
I'm 16 and have a fair amount of acne, after trying many over the counter products and also trying ProActive I thought that I would never find something to help clear my skin that was until I found this product. For only $10 at the local Wal-Mart I was amazed at how this product worked. It can be used as a daily face wash or a 3 minute mask. I have VERY sensitive skin so I am used to my skin burning and/or turning red when I use ANY face products, but this product has not even came close to the burning. It leaves my face with a tingly fresh and cool feeling. Not only dose it deep clean your face but it helps prevent and treat acne all in one simple step! This product would be a 10\10 in my books and I highly recommended it seems like one of the best products by far and it out beats the highly selling ProActive and Clearciel! <3
