Neutrogena Multi Defence Daily Moisturiser

Advantages: Variations for different skin types. SPF 15. Lasts a long time. Non greasy. Lightweight.

Disadvantages: Price, not moisturising enough.

Basically I needed a new moisturiser that would help to get rid of the sudden onset of dry skin I was having. I was shopping in home bargains for some cotton wool pads when I came across this moisturiser. I mainly bought it for the fact that it said to be for dry and sensitive skin and had spf 15 in it. The description of it being a multi-defence moisturiser to protect skin against damage from sun, wind, pollution, cold and heat did sound good, especially in this cold and windy climate! However I wasn't holding out much hope for that. This moisturiser comes in pretty basic looking packaging, with a white tube pump, with clear plastic lid and plain blue and black writing on the side. There's 50mls of product in each tube and for the little price of £3 that I paid for it, it was worth a buy. It was only when I got it home that I realised it was a Neutrogena product... Shock.

I did see this in Boots a few weeks later retailer at about £8, so I definitely got a good deal! This product provides me with adequate moisturisation throughout the day, doesn't feel greasy or heavy on the skin, hadn't broken me out so far, and lasts a long time! One of my favourite things about this product is the fact that there is a little platform at the bottom of the tube, so that as you pump out the product, the base inside the tube moves closer towards the lid, so you can be sure your're getting every last bit of moisturiser out of the tube. It also has a lightweight feel and serves as a good base for makeup too. I think it's nice that it contains spf and UVB as I can imagine sunscreen isn't the first thing people think to apply during winter! In terms of the whole multi defence aspect, I don't think there's really any way of knowing if this really is protecting your skin from those 5 daily aggressors. Other than trusting that it is...

All in all, I do like this product a basic daily moisturiser with the added bonus of spf and UVB filters for those cold but still very sunny days. However I can't say I'd pay the usual retail price for it, as it just didn't do anything special to make me want to pay that price. But for just a couple of pounds, it's perfect for what I need it to do. Also as I can't be sure it really is acting as a multi-defence product other than simply trusting what it claims to do. Unfortunately for me, I need to be able to see that a product is actually working for me if I'm going to spend more than £2/3 on it. All I know is I haven't seen any improvement or difference in my skin since using it. Plus it didn't quite moisturise enough for me, it was only when I started using Boots Simply Sensitive Night Moisturiser that I have felt any real moisturisation going on. I have since swapped to Simple's Radiance Brightening Day Moisturiser, in the hope of brightening up my skin. This seems to be working so far, and at £3 cheaper for the same amount of product as this Neutrogena one.

Summary: Does an adequate job, but nothing special.
