Description An exfoliating scrub for the face with "microbeads" to deeply cleanse the pores and remove blackheads. Opinion This scrub does leave your face feeling fresh and cleansed. It gives a lovely cool feeling which I think is generated by one of the ingredients, so whether this is giving the illusion of a deep cleanse or is just another ingredient to wake you up in the morning, it does the trick! The packaging doesn't give any indication of whether to apply moisturiser immediately after using or let your skin absorb the product slowly or how long to scrub for to derive maximum effect. Freshly scented and deep cleansing with a nice cooling sensation which I suspect comes from the "microbeads", this scrub is by specialist dermatologists Neutrogena and provides an invigorating, spa like experience. I would recommend this product to those prone to blocked pores and breakouts to give an extra cleanse daily. The after effect is not at all drying and gives a lovely fresh feeling on the face where this is most needed! I don't mind paying a bit extra for a quality facial product as this is one of the most troublesome areas of the skin and an area of skin which gets a lot of abuse from weather, air conditioning, you name it... Personal experience I use this every couple of days for a good exfoliate when I remember. The scrub suggests using twice daily, and suggests it is gentle enough to be used twice daily. I moisturise afterwards as this can help reduce symptoms of blocked pores (and for this I use Vaseline moisturiser which I have reviewed on here too!) Would I recommend this product? Yes! Does what it says on the tin and gives your skin a deep cleanse. Products used on the skin aren't the only factors, though it is important to remove dead skin cells which clog, it's also important to get plenty of sleep and eat fresh fruit and veggies for maximum return on your efforts for a glowing complexion! Value for money This product can come fairly expensive, but does last a while and does feel great on the skin so I would suggest paying the £3 price tag for a fresh, invigorating cleanse.
Unfortunetly I am prone to Blackheads, so I am always on the look out for products which reduce them, or claim to eliminate them completely. I get mine mainly on my chin and nose. It's nothing a little foundation can't sort out, however I prefer to keep them minimal else it really gets me down - I hate not having clear skin. I got the Neutrogena blackhead eliminating scrub mainly because of the name. Who could resist a product with such a promising claim? Plus, it was on offer in my local Superdrug, so I got it for £1.50 instead of £3.99 - I wouldn't of paid £3.99 as I feel this is quite expensive for a product that isn't great. For my money, I got 150ml of product. Considering you are meant to use this daily, 150ml doesn't last long at all. I'm still on my first tube, i've used just over half a tube in 5ish weeks, however I only use a small amount as I like to be careful with money and therefor don't pile it on - I like to make things last. The 150ml of scrub comes in a squeezy tube. Half of the tube is orange in colour and reads "New visibly clear blackhead elminating" and then in a red band with white writing it says "Daily scrub" with a bizzare picture that I can't quite work out what it is.. it kind of looks like a blackhead (a black dot with a grey sort of arrow going around it), but I might be wrong. The other half is transparent, exposing the off-white liquid which looks very thick, and if you look closely you can see the tiny red exfoliating partciles which are circular. The transparent half also has writing - it reads "Helps eliminate and prevent blackheads for upto 3 weeks", and underneath that is a black rectangle with a strip of silver at the bottom. The rectangle has the branding in it and reads Neautrogena in white writing, and directly underneath in smaller, black writing it states that it has been developed with dermatologists. The tube has a flip lid which when you flip it open exposes a hole in which the product is dipensed from. To dispense it, you simply squeeze the tube gently. On the back of the tube it is white with lots of small, black writing. It has the product description etc in various languages - English, Russian, French, etc. It also lists the ingredients. They don't sound very appealing - most of the names sound like chemicals. At the very top on the back of the tube it reads: Helps eliminate exisiting blackheads: The creamy scrub with exfoliating micro beads unclogs pores to remove trapped oil and dirt that are the source of blackheads. Helps prevent blackheads: The scrub contains a known blackhead fighting ingredient. Used daily, it cleanses deep into the pores to help keep blackheads at bay for up to 3 weeks. Clinically proven to help provide long lasting blackhead reduction. As you can imagine after reading the above I was very hopeful and had it in my head that this stuff was going to be my savouir, so began using it straight away. To use it, I simply wet my face with warm water to open my pores and then gently massage the scrub into my face, especially focussing on the areas that are prone to blackheads such as my nose and chin. It doesn't state on the packaging how long to leave it on for. I leave mine on for 2-3 minutes while I brush my teeth/wash my hands etc and then use a flannel to get it all off. It has definetly become part of my morning routine as it is so quick and easy to use. The scrub is very thick, meaning that you only need a tiny bit - a little goes a long way and a 10p sized blob covers all of my face apart from my forehead as I don't see much point in applying blackhead treatment to my forehead when it's flawless lol. Smell wise, I personally don't like it. It smells slightly perfumed with an unpleasant musky sort of undertone which smells very much like chemicals. It is not a smell that I find pleasant and unfortunetly it does linger on my skin for upto an hour after I have used the scrub, and it also lingers in the bathroom for an hour or so. So, does it work? For me, not really. As mentioned above I have been using this daily for 5 weeks. Yes, my skin is definetly clearer (spot wise), a little softer and slightly 'brighter', but I have not seen any noticeable change in the amount of blackheads that I have, nor has it reduced the appearence of them. This acts as a moisturizer for my skin, which is not why I purchased it. It smells horrible, doesn't do what it claims and is quite expensive, so I wouldn't personally reccomend it although I am aware that different skin tones may get better results, so therefor if you are interested then go ahead and try it - maybe it'll work better for you than it did me.
Recently when buying my daughters 2 monthlyish tube of Neutrogena black head eliminating scrub I noticed that for a mere pound extra I could get a whole other tube. As I like using exfoliators I decided to give it a shot myself. I have always had slightly oily skin and can get the occasional breakout, with some blackheads across the nose and chin, not the vivid pinhead sized coal black ones, but more of an open pore with a darker look to it. I wanted to see if this scrub would be any different from my usual brands, as it makes claims to have a long lasting effect on blackheads and breakouts that the others I use don't. I just hoped it wouldn't prove too harsh for my decrepit skin. Pricing I bought my scrub in Superdrug, which in retrospect even at two for £4.99 was a mistake for someone being so careful about their budget at the moment. The price of this product varies quite widely the outright winner of high street suppliers (or online as far as I can ascertain at the moment) is Asda for only £2, at Boots you will pay over double that, at £4.07 with 16 advantage points, Tesco and Superdrug fall in the middle at £3.53 and £3.83 (or 2 for £4.99) respectively for 150mls of product. What it claims In small letters at the bottom front of the tube it proclaims that this product is developed 'with dermatologists'... I would hope so! What that means precisely they don't say. Neutrogena's claim for this product is that it is safe to use every day. That it unclogs pores to 'free' trapped dirt and sebum, which are the cause of blackheads. Also that it helps the prevent the formation of new blackhead for up to 3 weeks, as it contains "a known blackhead fighting ingredient" what that is it doesn't specify, but it does claim to be clinically proven to help provide lasting blackhead reduction. You are instructed to apply to wet skin using circular motions, paying particular attention to congested areas, and rinse well. This product contains 2% salicylic acid (which is primarily a chemical exfoliator), this is an optimum percentage for treatment of acne (with any use of exfoliators it is recommended you use sunscreen on your nice fresh skin to prevent aging sun damage). I can only presume this is the 'known blackhead fighting ingredient' that they cryptically refer to, I have included a list of ingredients at the end so if you know your stuff you may spot something else that they could mean by that. Salicylic acid has a proven beneficial effect on acne, and spots in general. It works in several ways. Being a Beta Hydroxy acid it is able to work deep into the pores because; unlike Alpha Hydroxy (which is only water soluble) it is oil soluble. This allows it to get right into the pore and clear out the debris and exfoliate inside where it is needed. This I think is what allows this product to say it can clear spots for up to 3 weeks as it takes a while for the oil/sebum/dead skin cells to build up within the pore again. Salicylic acid not only exfoliates, but reduces inflammation, as it is derived from and has similar properties to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid); its mild acid exfoliating action also helps to break down existing spots and blackheads. Now all the above about salicylic acid sounds great. However I have one problem with this. The product is a wash off exfoliating cleanser, therefore is not in contact with the skin for long enough to have much or any effect. The inclusion of this ingredient may be to allow the claim of efficacy without actually quite living up to it. The cleanser does however also contain physical exfoliators to, which allows the other products to get to work in the pore a little faster, so may counteract the brief time on the skin a little. All a bit yes it's good, no it isn't, and yes it is again so far then. My experience of using the product, and was it good or not. For me the smell of this product is a little off putting, it smells slightly medicated, but as it it's 'gone off' a bit. This isn't enough to put me off using it though, as it is a scent that dissipates quite quickly when you wash the product off. If your skin isn't quite wet enough then the physical exfoliators may feel a little harsh for some, not me though, tough as old boot me. When used with enough water, a splash is enough for me, the product is creamy, and a bit lathery as you work it over the skin. I use a firm but not heavy pressure to work the product all over my face, avoiding my eyes, and working it into every little nook and cranny, for a minute or so, it rinses off really easily and leaves my skin feeling smooth clean and not at all tight and dry. However my daughter who has very sensitive dry skin does find it a little tight after using this, but nothing a little moisturiser won't sort out, and more importantly her skin is not irritated or itchy. Physical exfoliators are sometimes considered too harsh for mature skin as the rubbing motion every day can stretch thinning skin a little. If you are not too rough when applying this though I feel it is still beneficial. If I'm not too rushed I have started leaving the product on my skin for several minutes before washing off. As my skin is not terribly sensitive (I have allergies, but as long as the product doesn't contain my triggers I'm fine) I thought it would be worth a try to see if this extended contact with the skin would give the salicylic acid a better chance to work. I use as normal before bed, not too wet so it doesn't run off my face, and get on with brushing my teeth, and changing the litter trays before I rinse it off. Ahh the glamorous life I lead. Results I've been using this every day for about 6 weeks now (and still not even half way through the tube) and I can honestly say that I haven't had a significant spot/blackhead in all that time. In fact within 4 days I noticed that the slight flakiness that I had recently developed over my nose was gone, within 6 I noticed a big difference in bumpiness, and the look of blocked pores. This doesn't remove blackheads in the way extraction does of course, it's a more gradual process of breaking down the plug and washing out the pore. If you suffer from the kind of black plugs that need extraction the wash will remove some but I would recommend still extracting if they haven't shifted after a few days, the wash will help to stop them getting that blocked again. My skin looks fresher generally, and the open pores are less obvious and less dark. I still have open pores, there is nothing that will permanently shrink those babies once they have become a little stretched, and I do occasionally still get the beginnings of a spot, but in general this product has made a significant positive difference to the look and feel of my skin in a way that cosmetic exfoliators haven't. I Started to notice a few more blackheads appearing and decided in need some help so i went to boots so see what i could buy. Looking at the products they seemed a little pricey so to be honest i went with this scrub as it promised the most for the cheapest price. The scrub cost me £3.99 for a 150 ml bottle which once opened has a shelf life of around 12 months. It comes in squeasy orange and white bottle so its easy to apply. On the back of the bottle I'm told it uses exfoliating micro beads to unclog my pores and used daily it will keep blackheads at bay. So time to test it i decided to use it as part of my morning routine as after a shower my pores are already open so will give the scrub more of a fighting chance. I applied the cream with little orange bits in it to my face and concentrated on my nose an lower face where i am most prone to blackheads. Massaged it into my face and then rinsed as instructed. It made my face feel a little fresher but nothing much for the first day. I continued this routine and by the third day could actually tell a huge difference my blackheads seemed to have disappeared i could not believe it. I have continued to use it for the last two months and everything is still going well my face seems a lot fresher and noticeably reduced amount of blackheads.Even when they do appear after using this scrub each morning they are gone so it does do what it promises.I have just had to go and but a new bottle after 2 months so for £3 daily scrub I believe that is brilliant. The one downside for me is the smell it could be a lot better. It has a sort of old spice smell to it and as you may appreciate this is not a good scent for a young woman. My partner assures me he can't smell it on me after i use the scrub and I am hoping my perfume and cosmetics cover it up. I would recommend this daily scrub with its price and effectiveness its a must have for my bathroom!
I was very happy with my face wash up until recently when I noticed I was getting blackheads back again and was not happy with them so I decided I would try a different brand. The one I chose was by Neutrogena and to be perfectly honest the deciding factor for it was that it was on offer! ~~PACKAGING~~ The wash comes in a plastic tub which has a plastic flip cap at the bottom which is good as it means the wash is always easy to get out. The top of the tube is orange and the bottom is white. On the front we have the product and brand names and a banner saying that this is a daily wash. The back of the tune has all the relevant details regarding the face wash. ~~USE AND RESULTS~~ The face wash is for daily use and for me I use it both morning and night. It is very simple to use and just requires you massaging it into your wet face and them washing off with clean warm water. The wash is not to be used on the eyes. When I opened the cream I was not able to smell anything which was a bonus as some of these washes do smell strong, it was only when I squeezed some out I noticed a faint smell of soap. The cream is a white colour and quite thick. You can see small orange bits in the white cream and these help to remove the dirt from the pores. The cream was easy to massage into the face and as it is coloured it is easy to see where you have applied it and where you still need to. I was easily able to wash it off using a flannel and once I had done this could not believe how fresh my face felt. I noticed it felt so much cleaner and fresh. There was no tightness or dryness to my skin which I have had from different washes in the past and I was instantly able to notice the reduction in blackheads around my nose area straight away, even after the first use. After using this for 2 weeks now I can confidently say I am nearly 100% blackhead free and no skin on my face feels and looks so much softer and fresher. Hubby used this on his sensitive skin a few times and he has also had great results and it has not affected his skin in any negative way. ~~INFO~~ The face wash comes in a 150ml sized tube and for me this lasts, using it twice a day for around 3 weeks. The back of the tube has several claims including, eliminating and preventing blackheads and I can agree with these and say they are well proven to be true. The ingredients for the face wash for those allergy sufferers or those just wishing to know are:- Aqua, Catyl Alcohol, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether, Polyethylene, Polysorbate 60,l Salicyic Acid, Steareth-21, Jojoba Esters, Menthyl Lactate, Myristyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Agar, Neopentyl Glycol, Dicaprylate / Dicaprate, PPG-2 Methyl Ether, Alumina, Methylisothiazolinone, Parfum, Mica, CI 73360m C 77491, CI 77492, CI 77891 The shelf life once opened for the wash s 12 months. ~~PRICE AND AVAILABIOLITY~~ I purchased by wash from Tesco and it was on offer with all the products in the Neutrogena range having 1/3 off so it cost me just £2.11 which I felt was a complete bargain. It is widely available in all good stores and supermarkets. ~~RECOMMENDED?~~ This gets the full 5 stars from me and it has worked so well and made my face so much fresher and cleaner. It s a good price when on offer but I am still prepared to pay full price as it is that good. I am not prepared to suffer black heads any longer and neither should you so I recommend you all try this face wash.
I've always had problems with my skin, blackheads being the biggest problem of all, so I'm always on the look out for a facial wash that will combat them. From going on the internet and asking others what works for them one brand kept popping up...Neutrogena, so I nipped down to my local supermarket and found this one which is specially formulated to combat blackheads. Perfect. Or so I thought. I've been using this for about a month now and it doesn't seem to have made the slightest difference at all as I still have zillions of blackheads all over my face. Good points I do love the fact that it is a daily scrub and so can be used twice a day unlike most scrubs. This is great as I get such flaky skin particularly around my nose and so this helps keep it at bay. Aswell as this, it doesn't leave my skin feeling really dry afterwards like other scrubs which is a big bonus as most of the time my skin feels really horrible and tight after washing. Also I now love washing my face because the smell of it is gorgeous, kind of like a medicinal smell not a manufactured one. It lasts for ages. I've had my bottle for about a month now and theres still loads left in it. Bad points Well it doesn't work is the main one here. Also I wear quite heavy foundation and it is useless for getting all of it off. I could lather it into my skin for 5 minutes or more but it won't lift every scrap of make-up up and so I have to use a seperate cleanser to help. Maybe the fact that I wear such heavy foundation is why I'm not seeing any results in the clearance of my blackheads as it is hard for the scrub if I'm constantly clogging my pores up everyday but I doubt that even if I didn't wear much foundation it would help eliminate my blackheads.
Most of the time, my skin is in decent condition. If I dont get enough sleep or party too much.... it's a different story. I tend to get the odd spot here and there but they can be really visible and sometimes my skins feels awful. I've been through a lot of different face washs but none have really kept those odd spots away. This product is a slight scrub, but not too vigorous so it does not dry your skin. It leaves you feeling really fresh and clean, so I perfect for first thing in the morning. I have noticed a big difference in my skin since using it, and I harldy ever get the odd nasty spot now. It doesn't get rid of every single blackhead though. Only a small amount is needed, so it is worth the price because it lasts a long time. My last one lasted me two months. If you have normal skin, and are prone to the odd breakout, then this product is definately woth a try. I will continur to use it for a little while longer yet!
Neutrogena Visibly Clear blackhead eliminating daily scrub, a 150ml plastic squeezy tube with flip cap makes using the product easier than trying to unscrew caps in a shower. Product is easily identifiable as it has the bright orange top half and clear bottom half to the tube with the black Neutrogena logo on it. As the packaging says, it is a daily scrub, developed with dermatologists, and helps eliminate and prevent blackheads for up to 3 weeks, it helps to unclog pores and help remove trapped oil and dirt that are the source of blackheads. The product itself in appearance is a white creamy substance containing little orange beads which are the exfoliating micro beads, and you massage this into wet face targeting areas prone to blackheads. As far as the scent of the product goes, it does smell somewhat clinical, it contains blackhead fighting ingredients, so not what you would call a sweet smelling product, however, it is not an awful smell. The packaging is marked as recycleable. *My verdict* In use i find this works well as a scrub, massages easily into skin, and leaves skin with a softness after use. When used regularly, i have noticed an improvement in my blackhead areas, although I have never managed to get them clear, that may more be a reflection on me not always keeping up the daily routine though. I find this an excellent scrub for the cost, averages between £3 to £4 however, when last purchased it was on offer, 2 items for £5, which is an offer i have seen in more than 1 supermarket, so keep looking out for those offers.
This is the best blackhead eliminating scrub out there that works with in 3 weeks and is gentel on the skin. Im on one of the unfortunat ones that suffers from bad blackheads on my nose and on the brow on my forehead and for years i hated my skin till this product came out and thought umm i may give it a go. Im so glad i did cause it keeps my blackheads at bay, maybe not all of them but most of them (i'm still waiting for that magic daily scrub to come out) but it has work wonders for my skin. + its amazing on sensitive skin aswell as it doesnt make your skin feel itchy, burning like us sensitive skins feel. it leaves it feeling clean and fresh. *where to buy this product from* You can buy this product from boots and superdrug or any phamacy. *price* this product is really cheap and retails around £3.50-£4. but it last a long time as you use a small amount once a day. *how to use* use a small pea size on each area of where your blackheads our once a day and rinse of with warm water and pat dry your face gently this is the best product for blackheads!
I am actually quite surprised that the reviews for this product are so mixed. I think it is excellent. I have suffered from blackheads on my nose since I was a teenager. I have tried numerous other products - including the strips which only had limited effect. I do expect miracles, I think only intense and expensive micro- dermabrasion would completely get rid of them but I am looking for a product that can reduce them significantly. I think this product does just that! It is quite abrasive - I only use it on the effected area. I use it morning and evening and it really makes a difference. I would recommend that you persevere as it does take a couple of weeks to see the difference. My boyfriend also uses this product daily which I think is a testament to its effectiveness as he usually can't even be bothered to use moisturizer. He parents are also converts after trying it when they were staying for a weekend. Surely 4 people can't be wrong?
I have always always had blackheads! No matter what! So unfair! I bought this Neutrogena product for about £3.20 from Tesco. I believe this product price ranges from £3.20 - £3.99, which really is not bad at all! I have always believed in Neutrogena, not sure whether its because Jennifer Garner reinforces the product or because I just like the products. This Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub works for me because I can feel it working. It has tiny microbeads that help fight and eliminate your blackheads. Or so it claims. Im not sure whether it eliminates them, but it sure does make them less visible. I like products that I can feel working and with this product I definitely get that. This product also contains salicylic acid, which alongside the microbeads cleans the pores, whiles exfoliating the skin, removes trapped oil and dirt. This is where the product claims to prevent blackheads. I am unsure of this claim, as blackheads have been here all my life. I even once had a facial in Hong Kong whereby the beautician ´scooped´each one out! But they still came back! I do love this product and will continue buying it as it does work for me. Im just not sure about the part where they say they prevent blackheads from coming back. Nonetheless I have felt a difference that I do tend to have less blackheads and they are also a little less visible! I have saved a little money on make-up too! Bonus! Overall I would give this product a 4/5 for its amazing feeling it gives me, but is let down as I dont feel that it does actually prevent my blackheads from coming back. I think the price is very reasonable and I even like the smell of this product. This is definitely a good point seeing as the product is applied so close to my nose! Definitely worth a try if you have trouble with your blackheads!
One of my must have's! i like using Neutrogena products it gives me the refreshing and refining new feeling after scrubbing!I use this product whilst im showering because i find scrubbing my face more effective in the shower because the hot water from you showering has opened your pores and its wide enough for you to do all your cleansing techniques to it-thats the secret wash your face whilst showering! Anyways back to the point i have been using Neutrogena daily scrubs for almost half a year now, i live in the uk and it is a shame because the variety of Neutrogena selections is soo limited (please recommend me if you know where i can get a wider selection, especially for concentrating on spots) I cant live without the Neutrogena stress spot cleanser i find it really works and at a very cheap price aswel (esp when boots and superdrug does those buy one get one free discounts) Neutrogena, is a effective scrub thats does not feel strong-which is great for everyday use, it has little tiny substances that isnt harsh. They are so soft that it massages your face and removes any tough dirt. I adore this product and would truly recommend it for everyday use, its not necessary to wash your face in the morning in my opinion because if you have done a good daily routine scrub and motorizing in the night it is already enough, as long as you use a face towel and wash your face with water then apply cream. The Neutrogena spot control products has this minty smell to it which almost makes you want to eat it and also when scrubbed on your face it gives you this new fresh feeling-that feels like youve been reveled to a new skin? Its very unique and i havent actually experienced this feeling with any other products out there. so i must say go straight tout to boots and get it now if you havent used it!And of course it works, it has controlled my spots very well- I would recommend Neutrogena too all skins.. Especially Acne skins but if you have no spots i still recommend you to it as its very effective and it prevents you from building a break out one day ... As for this product itself is actually pretty disappointing it says to eliminate blackheads. It is very rare for a scrub that isnt so strong to remove blackheads and i personally find this unuseful- recommend St.Ives scrub for all the though doings and also you can remove your black heads easily without any products all you have to do its...after shower when your pores are the widest slowly wiggy your nose where the blackhead is and the dirts should come out-theres alot of youtube samples in how to do it..check them out for futher instructions but i personally think thats the most effective way to remove blackheads white heads and dirt in your pores-which is essential.never NEVER use nose strips they would damage your pores and give you more blackheads and it would give a worst/horrible result although it gives you the second of cleanness but what after????! Anyways all in all i recommend you checking out Neutrogena products but not this one, or any other products that SAY and claims they remove blackheads, because using a scrub is just the same..
Up until I turned 30, I was incredibly lucky with my skin. I never suffered anything more than a very occasional spot as a teenager and despite only having a basic and minimal skincare routine, I had really good clear and youthful skin. Unfortunately, almost at the stroke of midnight on my thirtieth birthday, all the sins I'd committed finally caught up with me. Years of sloppy skincare, lashings of cheap make up, late nights, falling into bed with my make up still on and fags finally took their toll. At 32 years old I now suffer the bad skin I escaped in my teenage years and blackheads in particular are the bane of my life. I've tried plenty of different facial scrubs over the last couple of years with varying degrees of success. I'm a bit of a fickle shopper though and am not particularly brand loyal; I'm easily swayed by a special offer. It was while on such an offer at my local Morison's I purchased Neutrogena's visibly clear blackhead eliminating daily scrub. At full price this will cost in the region of £4. The product comes in a squeezy tube containing 150 ml of a white creamy substance with very tiny particles (or micro beads), rather like sand. On the tube Neutrogena claim it will help to eliminate and prevent blackheads for up to 3 weeks, and apparently this has been clinically proven. When I first used the scrub I was a little surprised by the scent, although not in a bad way. Most facial scrubs smell of either nothing at all or fresh clean things, such as cucumber and mint. As soon as I opened the flip lid I could smell a strong floral fragrance and it smelled more like body lotion than a facial scrub. It wasn't an unpleasant scent at all, just not what I would have expected and a little off-putting if I'm honest. I've had a look on the back and there is nothing in the extensive list of scientific sounding ingredients that I can identify as having this scent, and I can't quite put my finger on one myself, so a generic floral will have to do! Accepting the strange scent, I went ahead and squeezed some out onto my hand. The scrub itself is a white cream of medium consistency with tiny orange particles you can barely see. The directions for use tell me to apply to a wet face and massage gently, especially in the blackhead prone areas (that will be my nose and chin then), which I did. The cream itself is easy to rub in and feels very soft; however the micro beads were so tiny I could barely feel them at all. I didn't like this, as I do like to feel them working on my skin. Rinsing the facial scrub off, I started to feel the cream was a bit greasy and slippery and even after drying my face it felt a bit waxy. I was disappointed after using the facial scrub, as it didn't really leave my face feeling deep cleaned and fresh. I also didn't notice any immediate improvement to my skin, but decided to carry on regardless and give it a chance. After around three weeks of using this facial scrub daily I could notice an improvement to the feel of my skin, it felt soft and moisturised. However I could have got the same effect from a moisturiser. Where I felt let down by this product was with the cleaning of my face. After using it my face never felt scrubbed or deep cleaned. It certainly wasn't refreshing either, something else I like in a scrub. After using the whole tube (I hate waste) I can't see any improvement overall to my skin, although it isn't any worse. I really wasn't impressed with Neutrogena's visibly clear daily scrub. The smell wasn't one I'd associate with a facial cleanser, the micro beads were completely ineffective, and I wasn't particularly keen on the greasy, waxy feel it left behind. On the plus side it is moisturising and made my skin feel soft. I won't be buying this product again for myself, I'm now using clean & clear, which has more abrasive beads and a nice refreshing scent that leaves my skin tingling. People who have little or no problems with spots and blackheads may like this as a very mild and gentle scrub, however, if like me you need something a bit more heavy duty, I'd give it a wide birth.
One of the Good Woman's favourite recreational hobbies is squeezing the blackheads from my delicate and wrinkled skin. I used to think she would grow out of this crazy past time, but no, she wouldn't stop and sometimes I've had to physically restrain her from entering my own personal space! The marriage guidance councillor..... no only kidding! It wasn't that bad. Anyway I discovered Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub....... or spot cream for short! I've got naturally oily skin and am prone to the dreaded blackheads.... and to be honest, even though she loves to squeeze, Joanne did go to Boots to get me the stuff. It's got tiny little microbeads in which you can feel when applying to the face and these unclog the pores in the skin to prevent the nasty blemishes. You only need to apply a very small amount so the the above tube or whatever it's called will last probably last a pretty long time. Very important to wash the face first with soap and water before applying to the face. I love the feeling of all the little beads on my face. Afterwards my skin has natural glow to it. I'd say positively radiant! After a couple of weeks, all the blackheads were gone and haven't been seen since. Using it about three times a week keeps them at bay. The above tube cost £4.20 The darling wife now has another hobby. Plucking my eyebrows! Plucking hell! Like with the blackheads I always think she's looking adoringly into my eyes but no she's eyeing up a vulnerable spot or eyebrow hair. I'm off to shave it all off! What next?...... Maybe a straight jacket for her!
I have fairly problematic skin, my skin is very sensitive and dries out easily with certain products, but also is very prone to spot outbreaks if skin gets oily. It's horrible. Currently I use soap and water to clean my face, which does clean, but sometimes makes my skin outbreak, so I've been on the look out for a product which cleans and is really caring for my annoying skin. So I'd seen the Neutrogena Visible Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub's (what a mouthful!) advert of TV and in the woman's magazines, and it claims to be "exfoliating" and "unclogs pores to prevent blackheads" within 3 weeks of using the product. Although I don't suffer badly from blackheads, I do sometimes have the odd breakout of blackheads, so I'd thought I'd give it a little try. Firstly, the scrub has tiny microbeads in it, which apparently helps unclog your pores. I'm personally undecided about the little beads in scrubs, I really dislike the feel of the beads on my skin, but in other scrubs I've used the beads have done wonders to my skin, but others, such as Clearasil, the beads have made my skin very dry and painful, so the microbeads can work very differently on different skin types, so be aware. Application was fairly easy, I personally applied some on my hands and massage into my skin, other people apply but putting a dot on the T-Zone, Chin and Cheeks, and then rub in together. Both ways are great ways, and I would only apply around a 10 p piece blob of the Daily Scrub, which is plenty to use on the face, and if you use to much, skin can get all greasy and might not work so well. I also thought it was quite difficult to remove, and took a while to get all the beads of my face. Applying the scrub did make my face feel refreshed and clean, and my pores did start to feel much cleaner. So after 3 weeks of trying Neutrogena Daily Scrub, I did notice my skin did seem cleaner and brighter, but I did feel that my skin had become really dry while using the Neutrogena Daily Scrub, which I did kind of think would happen because of the microbeads in the scrub, I do have to point out that the scrub will work better and worse, depending on your skin type, but on my sensitive skin it made it fairly dry, oily skin this scrub might work heaps better. But the scrub did get rid of my blackheads, which I had at the time, and I haven't had another outbreak during the time I was using the Daily Scrub, so does what it said. Neutrogena Visible Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub is available at pharmacists, such as Boots, Superdrug, but also most supermarket, such as ASDA and Tesco. Prices vary from 2-5 pounds, and each tube lasts around a month.
