Advantages: hydrates and moisturises
Disadvantages: can cause spots
Nivea is really well known brand. It's one of those household names, along with vaseline and sudocreme. It started out with its original basic cold creme, and now has many many different varieties.
This nivea creme is a basic cold creme, it has the benefit of being preservative free and dermalogically approved, but all in all its just a good old cold creme moisturiser.
It comes in a blue pot, with a blue lid, and white writing, and is available in 50mls, 100mls, 200mls etc. I have the 50 ml version as its the perfect size for carrying around in your handbag. It can be used everywhere face, feet hands and legs.
The creme itself is white in colour, but very thick in consistency, and surprise surprise it feels cold to touch. On rubbing into the skin, it soaks in pretty easily, but does tend to leave a greasy residue that sinks in about a minute later. I find as a body moisturiser it works really well, and also as a makeup remover when you've run out of nearly everything else, but as a facial skin moisturiser for me it is too heavy. I much prefer light cream on my face, and i find using nivea cream continuously gives me spots.
I get very dry hands and find that using this day after day keeps them soft and supple. All in all a good moisturiser for keeping in your handbag.
Summary: decent moisturiser for everyday skin care
